WR Romeo Doubs, GB (1 Viewer)

Ended up checking Doubs socials last night and he sure removed all GB stuff so does seem the report has legs.

The impact for me is I only own Doubs in one spot, have had him on a roster him since he came into the league and can't remember the last time I started him, might have been years. My team has Kupp, Puka and Ridley out. Jordan Love at QB. This was his time, thought it was going to be fun to have new guy to pull for this week but guess not.

But I'm heavy as could be on Wicks and way I think this went down is Doubs got the gameplan on Wednesday and flipped out and that makes me really excited what it means to Wicks.

I don't think I've said this because I'm tending to not spend quite so much time on the boards this year, but I've acquired Wicks in my two dynasty leagues and have him in my redraft league also this year. I held because I believe in the talent.

As far as Doubs goes, this is awfully interesting behavior. Maybe a healthy dose of Jayden Reed to go along with Wicks flipped his switch. It's all speculation, but it just seems like a really inopportune moment and way to express his dissatisfaction. Unless you feel like you aren't being given a fair chance to win the job you probably shouldn't act in this particular way if your goal is setting yourself up in the NFL with another team (if that's the direction you think they're going).

Then again, maybe hastening his exit is wise in some way. Guys that get to this level and work as hard as he presumably did don't take to hearing "no, you can't be that guy" very well. If anything, I'd hope to read a positive into all of this, although I'm sure people would call me wildly stupid or naive.

Two thoughts:

1. Was hoping,as a massive Wicks owner, this would end Doubs in GB but word they are putting out is things are moving positively. Still have to think a trade is possible. Wicks as a foundation piece when Watson returns would be nice.

2. How on earth does only one beat writer for the Packers have this story? Always felt like the Packer beat writers and players/franchise had a real cozy relationship, dynamics of the small town and such but this is to cozy. Following the Bill Huber guy now, kind of like when my news is not suppressed.

Reporters like access more than the truth. If they start posting stories the teams don't necessarily want out there, they get cut out.

Maybe we need to find the “rest of the story” for it to make sense…

Might be still reeling from the Brewers’ collapse.

Thursday's missed practice was prior to this.

Packers went through a similar thing with Jaire Alexander last year. Their relationship is better than ever. Doubs isn't going anywhere anytime soon. He'll be back next week.

Maybe, but they need Alexander more than Doubs. Doubs may be back next week but also may have fallen in the pecking order when he does return.

Yeah, that's two totally different players.

Doubs being traded should surprise no one, and he'd make all kinds of sense for the Chiefs.

So glad I dropped Wicks in 3 leagues while he was scoring 0 pts in 2 out of the first 3 weeks :wall:

Umm he was suspended for a game by the team. What did he do?

Oh I see. Missed 2 practices.

It’s a procedural move so Doubs doesn’t get paid. They are sending a message. So either Doubs continues this childish act. Forfeit his salary. Or he does the apology thing. Most likely he crawls back like a kid. Cause he got bills to pay.

I can’t believe I bought the idea that Doubs is the WR 1 on this team. I actually kept reading it here from Packer fans. My eyes and heart told me it was Reed, Wicks, and Watson that were the better players. Congratulations to all the Reed and Wicks owners. They should have a great year ahead. Particularly with Watson not being able to stay healthy.

I'd be surprised if he gets traded. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think any GB player has "forced" an in-season trade since Mike McKenzie. (Incidentally, yesterday was the 20th anniversary of that trade!)

Not that I think it will go that far but 2024 wouldn't even count as an accrued season for Doubs if he were to remain on the reserve/suspended list.

Is Doubs good enough to be a disgruntled DIVA?
No. He's their 4th best WR. Maybe even 5th behind Melton.
Indeed - talk about a guy with no leverage making a stink.
Yeah, who does he think he is, Elijah Moore?

I remember hearing on this board how much the Jets were going to regret the whole Elijah Moore thing. I didn't buy that for a second. And part of why I didn't buy it is because drafting him in the second round was a mistake to begin with. It's not like the Jets weren't at fault in the situation. I wasn't moved to think the Jets wouldn't miss him because of bias in favor of the Jets' brass. No, they were fully responsible for drafting a 5'8", too-slim receiver in the second round. They just weren't at fault for getting rid of him.

Good riddance, goodbye, bye bye bye bye

If he gets traded it wont be because they forced him.

it will be because hes just not that good. buddy if you want more playing time, play better. dont skip practice. skipping practice only does one thing.... it guarantees you less playing time.

I can't imagine this isn't smoothed over by tomorrow, but I don't have any local insight. I only have one share of Reed (and I could definitely use him due to Waddle).

For the contrast in generations talk, it seems like folks are forgetting that there were plenty of Gen X diva WR's. In fact, it could be argued that the diva WR peaked with Gen X, and it's been relatively tame since.

I don't remember any other 4th best WR's pulling this before, but it's also been a long time since we've had news crews filming a WR doing sit-ups in their driveway.

I'm probably his biggest (and perhaps only) supporter on here but even I am baffled. He *has* been heavily involved. Reeds and Wicks are both showing signs of being special and deserve reps, period. Watson is out so IDK what Doubs is bitching about. Keep playing hard and the ball will *continue* to come your way.

Which is why I think the whole thing is kind of weird and makes me wonder what else is going on there.

All we know is that he missed two practices and is suspended this week. As far as I’m aware, Doubs hasn’t spoken and the team has said very little. Everything else is pure speculation with a good dose of nonsense mixed in.

only the elite can be divas. He’s not even close to being elite. Shut up and play
That's the thing. in the old days if you were not elite and you pulled that crap, you'd get cut or traded and other teams likely wouldnt want you all that bad.

most of the cases like that the player would play out their contract and wouldnt be resigned. (usually by anyone)

teams just dont wanna put up with that crap unless the player is an incredibly good player.
