The scheme is definately going to be a positive, as the Bills want to play an up-tempo type of offense and Watkins is used to taking those short dump passes and turning them into big gains.

I like Werdnoynek's analysis that Watkins can eventually play like a bigger Harvin with more production than what Harvin had in 2011; however, I do think that we won't see that until 2015 or 2016.

Definitely a huge price. Honestly though, they were desperate for a play maker and he's the best in this class. I think you could argue he'd be the best next year too plus he's only 20 (21 in June). Carolina just spent a first on Benjamin who's 23 and will never be the player Sammy is now IMO.

He asked to quantify his ceiling, not his athletic ability. I'm not comparing them as athletes, I'm comparing the type of numbers Sammy can put up. They play the position very similarly.

Agreed. And to look at next year's class - the playmaking receivers are lacking IMO. This is the guy they wanted and IMO needed if that's what they're looking for.

Khalil Mack knows firsthand the chill that Watkins will encounter playing for his new team.

Watkins was asked about the snowy conditions in Buffalo, and indicated he was undaunted by the inevitably frigid conditions he'll have to play through in late-season action.

"At Clemson, I saw a lot of snow this year. I can play in the cold. I've been playing in the cold for three years," Watkins said.

Mack, by contrast, will be trading his snow boots for sunglasses in moving from the University of Buffalo to play for the Oakland Raiders. The two were chosen with back-to-back picks at Nos. 4 and 5 overall. And Mack, a South Florida native, didn't sound sorry to be letting Watkins take his place in Buffalo.

"He'd better get ready," Mack said. "It's about to get real."

As long as Watkins can thaw out a Buffalo passing offense that ranked just 28th in the NFL last season, the snow might not be such a bother, anyway.

One thing you can say is that Watkins is the only WR in this class who offers both size and deep speed without serious skill question marks. They could've grabbed a Moncrief or Bryant in rounds 2-3, but those guys are a shell of the player Watkins is. The Bills have already seen what happens when you try to plug holes with third rate talents (TJ Graham and Marquise Goodwin). Moncrief and Bryant are better than those clowns, but they're not Watkins.

So if they felt this was exactly what they needed and this is the only guy in the next draft or two who can give them that, then I guess they made a good pick. More often than not though, I think moving down and getting extra value is better in the overall picture than getting blinders for one player and one player only. The Browns are fixing to reap a huge bounty now and they've gotta be thrilled to be have gotten another a potential top 10-15 pick just to move down five measly spots.

I think that's a very reasonable expectation as far as the wait goes. For WRs that's about how much I would typically expect to wait in dynasty anyway. I think he certainly could have landed better but almost any of the top 5 slots was going to come with question marks and only the Lions trading up (among the rumored teams) would have provided a really attractive situation. I can buy Manuel as a barrier. Weather doesn't worry me. Buffalo has had high powered offenses before, as have other cold weather teams. At the end of the day this is dynasty and if you bought Watkins as a top prospect before I don't see any reason to panic. I agree with Grove and Faust here that the scheme is actually a positive. If you thought he was a more situation-dependent then it'd be reasonable to downgrade him. I see him as an elite prospect and think he'd be recognized as such if the top dynasty WRs weren't all such crazy athletes. There's no point in doing comps because all it invites is contrasts from guys in the top 5 who are taller and bigger. It's clear to me that he's a fantastic football player.

Too early to say this. At least 4 other WRs I could move ahead of Cooks if they are in an equally great situation: Robinson, Latimer, Matthews, Adams.

Bills fan here, so take this for what it's worth. I think this is a commitment to EJ. I wanted the Bills to just stay put and not be cute and draft a freakin stud OT. But they didn't. In my opinion (and the rest of the draft will either lend to or detract from this theory), the Bills are surrounding Manuel with good receiving options - Watkins, Robert Woods and maybe even Mike Williams if his head is on straight. The have Marquise Goodwin as a deep threat with bigtime wheels and CJ Spiller and Freddy Jackson as dual threat RBs. Now he's got the weapons. It's EJ or bust. Now they have to ride this train to glory or into the ground. In my opinion, the Bills have to give EJ at least 2 more seasons to prove if he's the man or not. And if he's not - and this whole stupid EJ experiment was a waste... well add him to Todd Collins, Drew Bledsoe, Doug Flutie, Rob Johnson, Alex Van Pelt, Ryan Fitzpatrick, JP Losman, Trent Edwards, Brian Brohm, Thad Lewis, Kelly freakin Holcomb and the great Jeff Tuell on the list of players who couldn't hold a candle to JK. Burn it and start over.
