WR Stefon Diggs, NE (2 Viewers)

Stefon Diggs on a 4-year, $104 million extension that includes $70 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN. Deal ties Diggs to Buffalo for six more years, at $124.1M, with the intent from both sides to have him retire in Buffalo.

So they signed him through his age 35 season.  Seems silly, but whatever.  

At least a couple of these giant contracts for near 30 WRs are going to end up tremendously bad for their teams.

Depends. The Dolphins can cut Tyreek after his 2025 season, just before he turns 32, with only about a $5 million dead cap hit. 

In 2024 and 2025 the dead cap hits are 15 and 10 million.

It depends on how the contract is structured.  These top-line numbers ("four years for $104M") often don't mean a lot. 

That said, I imagine the Bills are probably serious about wanting Diggs to retire there, so those back-end years are more likely to be real than the ones in Von Miller's contract, for example.

  • This could be a problem for fantasy managers, especially in clear Bills victories if the Bills rest him some early in the game and do not need him late.

I'd like to believe this. I was hoping to target Diggs after he had a slow start against Ramsey and then AJ Terrell next week. I do not think that plan is going to work out. No one is dropping Diggs value after this game.
 
Diggs received 9 targets, 3 more than anyone else. I'm not worried about the snaps, as the game got later they pulled him more often because they already had it in the bag. That could be a risk, but it was in the bag when he caught the 50 yard TD. It's like saying you were fading Davante Adams previously because the Packers were blowing people out, nobody did that.

Yeeeeeaaaaa, I'm gonna go ahead and ignore that blurb.
I was concerned, and maybe still am, that Gabriel would take over as WR1. But the targets suggest that Diggs is still #1, and Gabriel will be big play dependent.

I don't get points for run blocking, so Kumerow will stay on the wire.
 
Davis is not the #1. People really think that? It's called resting your star in a blowout. As already mentioned, he lead the team in targets. He would have had more snaps, more targets and more completions and yards had the game been closer.

This Davis love is getting ridiculous.
 
When you look at the receiving stats from Stefon Diggs, his eight receptions, 122 yards and a touchdown on nine targets immediately springs to mind as an elite day. But when you dig a bit deeper into how the Bills used Diggs and just how dominant he was, it turns into a jaw-dropping effort. Throughout the 2021 season, Diggs was on the field for 86 percent of the Bills’ offensive snaps, but at least for this week, the Bills actively dialed back the receiver’s role. Against the Rams, Diggs was on the field for only 41 snaps by my unofficial count — a snap share of 67 percent and almost a 20 percent drop from his season totals last year. But in doing so, his efficiency skyrocketed.

Diggs dominated the Rams’ secondary, as he was seemingly fresher with additional time to catch his breath on the sidelines. Of those 41 snaps, 12 resulted in rushes and three were penalties. The other 26 were either passing attempts or Allen getting sacked, and the Bills targeted Diggs on an unbelievable 34.6 percent of those plays. That is the mark of an unguardable player and true difference maker. And on those 26 plays, the Bills averaged 9.2 yards per play.

That route on Ramsey where Ramsey bit the dirt was just *chef's kiss*. Diggs is probably my favorite wr to watch in the league.

Who has said Davis was the #1 - even his biggest supporters in here would only go as far to say that it's possible he outscores Diggs.

I didn't say anyone claimed he was #1. I was referring to the post directly above mine where raider said he was (and maybe still is) concerned Davis would take over as WR1.

It's clear to me Diggs is the #1 on this offense.
 
Production was fantastic obviously, but it is a tad concerning that he was coming out so often (it wasn't just when the game was out of hand either). Hopefully he isn't dealing with a minor injury and he just needs to build up his lungs a bit.
 
It looked like he got up funny after a reception from the slot in the 2nd quarter. Someone tweeted snap% in 1st half (or maybe it was through first 4 drives) and diggs had 26/26 snaps at that point. Maybe he got a stinger and had some plays off after that play in the 2nd.

I don't care how much rest he gets as long as he ends up with double digit targets. In fact, I like it. Keeps him fresh.

Diggs and the Bills moved the chains throughout this one, but it was his nose for the end zone that stood out above all else. Diggs' first score of the day came on a four-yard pass from Josh Allen, but his biggest play came on a 46-yard score in which he burnt the Titans' secondary for the long score. His final score, which came from 14-yards out, came on an RPO in which he beat safety Chris Jackson for the score. Diggs and Allen are off to a hot start after the two connected for 8/122/1 in Week 1 against the Rams. That should continue in Week 3 against the 2-0 Dolphins.

Stefon Diggs caught 7-of-11 targets for 74 yards in the Bills' Week 3 loss to the Dolphins.​


Diggs also drew a red zone personal foul on Xavien Howard. Mired in grueling Miami heat and humidity, Diggs spent much of the second half shuttling in and out of the game with cramps. He still managed to tie for the team lead in targets, though looks were plentiful on an afternoon where the Bills ran 90 plays and Josh Allen attempted a career-high 63 passes. Despite today's quieter affair, Diggs has now reached at least seven receptions in all three of his 2022 appearances. He is cooking with PPR gas. Another potential shootout for Week 4 awaits in the Ravens.

Diggs was tied for the team lead with just half a dozen targets in what was a spread-out passing attack against Baltimore. He was invisible for much of the game, and nearly came up with a long sideline reception that would have made his final stat line look a lot prettier. On a day where Josh Allen threw for a meager 213 yards and was utilized as a rusher (11 carries for 70 yards), especially in the red zone, Diggs didn't see his usual volume. He remains the team's unquestioned top wideout, however, and should be a locked-in WR1 play in Week 5 against the Steelers.

Stefon Diggs caught 10-of-13 targets for 148 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' Week 6 win against the Chiefs.​


Diggs was unguardable for a KC secondary that gave up 329 yards to Josh Allen in the Chiefs' critical home field loss. Diggs got open for a second half touchdown in the corner of the end zone, continuing a hot streak that has seen him post four 100-yard performances in the season's first six weeks. Diggs came into Week 6 with a 27 percent target per route run share, the ninth highest in the league among receivers. Only three wideouts have a higher yards per route run than Diggs this season. He'll be a top-end fantasy play when the Bills return from their Week 7 bye.

Stefon Diggs caught 5-of-10 targets for 93 yards in the Bills’ Week 9 loss against the Jets.

Diggs was pretty much the Lone Ranger today as far as pass catchers goes for the Bills. Josh Allen connected with him on a 42-yard completion on the Bills’ first drive, but nothing much greater came afterward. In a game where the Jets constantly got pressure, Allen looked for Diggs to the tune of 10 targets. It was a solid day for Diggs, but not enough for the win. He looks to have a better day in Week 10 against the Vikings.

Stefon Diggs caught 12-of-16 targets for 128 yards in Buffalo's Week 10 loss to Minnesota.​

Diggs had an absolutely phenomenal one-handed stab of a ball well over the average NFL wideouts target radius to convert a third-and-15 for 25 yards. A catch that would rule clip shows around the league if it wasn't in a losing effort in a game that Justin Jefferson. Diggs somehow drew only one red zone target, but had a couple of other targets inside the MIN 30 that were either short catches. Overshadowed as it was, another phenomenal effort from Diggs will keep him on pace to finish as the overall WR1 and he remains an easy WR1 against the Browns in Week 11.

Stefon Diggs caught 8-of-15 targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' Week 12 win over the Lions.​

Mired in mediocrity along with the rest of the Bills' offense in the first half, Diggs was sitting on just 2/15 before coming alive in the third quarter. His touchdown was a five-yarder where he broke free at the goal line with just 2:40 remaining. Diggs has been held below 100 yards in back-to-back games for only the second time all season but has still scored each week in the process. He does have a tough Week 13 date with the Patriots' elite pass defense.
