WR Stefon Diggs, NE (1 Viewer)

@SavageSports_
Patriots reporter @PhilAPerry on Stefon Diggs.

Per: @NBCSBoston

“There are little signs that he’s just becoming a bit of a pain in the posterior.”

"It all sort of adds up to, there's a lot going on with this guy for a guy who doesn't look like a No. 1 receiver anymore," 😳

Very curious what his ceiling is if he’s healthy. Still seems like he’s a 12-13 ypr guy but am unsure maye will be a high volume passer in this offense. That said there’s really no one to challenge Diggs as a number one target in the offense?
He has legit FF top 12 upside IMO. Floor should be reasonably safe.

Of course, he has to stay healthy, and he has to stay out of the tabloids.

I’m considering selling on the alluring upside he offers to get a little younger & maybe get a handcuff, but I can’t bring myself to sending the offer - that tantalizing upside.

Early season schedule looks pretty friendly to entice potential buyers.

a good amount of negativity about diggs on the web and youtube in the last 48 hours.

however, on reddit, a user comment about Phil Perry the chief critic and more generally the Boston media....

"as a pats fan, don’t listen to a single thing boston media says about the team. it’s like they purposely hate just for attention; phil perry especially. dudes a moron"

Pats homer here - Phil Perry got absolutely schooled yesterday by Vrabel in a presser. Haven’t heard any semblance of negativity around Diggs other than Perry’s weird comment. Diggs has been fine. Nothing to see here, at least yet.

Is Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs a bad teammate? | WEEI Afternoons

edited to add: Phil Henry and Tom Curran in the first clip. dont know who the 3 guys are in the second clip. it seems there are general concerns about the NE passing game...and in particular pass protection....that SOME are projecting onto Diggs unfairly (?).

2025 New England Patriots training camp: Latest intel, updates

Excerpt:

Thursday, Aug. 14

One of the themes struck by veteran receiver Stefon Diggs since signing with the Patriots in March is to extinguish the hype surrounding his arrival. He has made no bold predictions about his availability coming off an ACL injury and has spoken sparingly with reporters who cover the team daily.

Diggs stayed on script the at Patriots-Vikings practices the last two days. He agreed only to a 1-on-1 interview with Dianna Russini of The Athletic, and as part of that discussion, he playfully wouldn't even go as far as to say he's a lock to play Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

This despite Diggs, whose recovery has been ahead of schedule, having passed his initial physical on July 19 and not having missed a practice of training camp.

It is with that background that coach Mike Vrabel seemed surprised to field a question on whether Diggs would be in the lineup Sept. 7 for the season opener.

"He's been out here almost every day. I'm excited where he's at," Vrabel said before Thursday's practice with the Vikings. "He works hard and he cares, which are two important things."

Vrabel also acknowledged that making predictions for the future with any player isn't something he likes to do. He did hold Diggs out of the preseason opener, which came two days after he had a limited workload in a practice with the Commanders.

But Vrabel noted Diggs' work in a recent practice, saying: "The other day in the red zone, I thought that Stefon factored and looked good and keeps getting better."

I was speaking more so in terms of Diggs being a “pain” as Perry said. The offense has struggled at times, but they’ve also looked really good at times. I’m saying you have to take everything the Boston media has said with a grain of salt.

Yeah that’s odd considering I’ve read more than one article about how influential Diggs has been in his mentoring of guys like Chism & the rapport he building with Maye.

And the stuff about having an attitude without the ability? Yeah, I’ve seen the videos of Diggs at practice - and read the comments of other observers. From what I’ve seen and the comments, he looks fantastic out there.

Just the polar opposite of these articles bashing him for being a PITA.

One of the guys I am having difficulty ranking this year, but I feel like he's a value and a guy like Maye will look for often.

Legit shot at a WR12-16 finish IMO.

Gotta stay healthy - Maye needs to take that next step in his development. But I could see north of 120 targets.

Also a legit shot at finishing as a WR36-50

Who can know. He has a very high football IQ and looks like his old self cutting in routes from what I’ve seen, though that’s a small sample size.

Yeah basically if I can buy him around where other guys I wanna take a stab at WR4-5 ADP pricing, the ROI seems highest with him I think I'm in on him this year

Question: Are you expecting to be on a pitch count?

Stefon Diggs: “Hell no! I don’t know. I don’t make the rules. We’ll see how it goes, but I really hope not.”

Drake Maye says he has noticed WR Stefon Diggs elevating with a game approaching Sunday against the Raiders.

“I’m looking forward to getting him the rock and letting him do his thing,” he says.

Stefon Diggs with a statement for the media:

"I had some interviews throughout camp and some of my words were misconstrued. Me talking to another individual... was taken out of context."

"I was referred to as a pain in the ***... I don't want to come across as that."

Stefon Diggs addressed the local media and was rubbed the wrong way this summer. Diggs comes across as a pro.

Has a long way to go to catch Tyreek...

Travis Henry is the GOAT:

Travis Henry has fathered at least nine children with different women, a fact that came to light during child support disputes. While some reports indicate he has fathered 11 children by 10 women, older reporting from around 2009 states he had nine children by nine women.

Wasn’t there a poll done a few years ago, where they asked players “Who is the one NFL player you wouldn’t want dating your sister?” and the answer, pretty much unanimously was Stefon Diggs? I thought I remembered hearing that.

I have a share of him in my main money, so play on, playa!

Well this explains why he got caught trafficking kilos of cocaine … his monthly expenses were pretty steep

I believe that was a bit from when he was on the Vikings. The Vikings’ players’ responds were overwhelmingly Diggs to the question. Like unabashedly where it was evident that they all knew stuff and he was the clear choice.

I am holding.
Prototypical slot receivers like Diggs have historically been successful under Josh McDaniels. Such receivers have had success even beyond age 30+ under him.
Wes Welker, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Jakobi Meyers are the typical slot receivers come to mind.

I think week4 is the ramp up. And at home vs Car. Oh did everyone forget the Panthers secondary defense?
I like situations with a good QB and undefined WR1 on the team.
Maye has looked real good. I think he's ready to identify a WR1 starting week4.
Did everyone also forget Diggs is on a THREE year contract worth $69 mill?

The other thing is maybe Diggs is not fully there yet. Has it been a year since he tore his ACL? I think as the season goes on Diggs will be better and you brought up some good points that fuels that.

Stefon Diggs caught 6-of-7 targets for 101 yards in the Patriots’ Week 4 win over the Panthers.

The 100-yard effort was Diggs’ first as a Patriot, though he still failed to find the end zone for the fourth time in as many games. His seven targets were five more than any other Pat on an afternoon where Drake Maye attempted only 17 passes in a 42-13 blowout victory. Diggs still looks a little stiff side to side, but he is clearly this offense’s No. 1 receiver ahead of a Week 5 #RevengeGame against the Bills. Buffalo is more vulnerable on the ground than through the air, but Diggs will have WR3 appeal in a potential shootout.

I got AJ Brown and Egbuka. Looks like Diggs is gonna be my starter going forward. He’s the clear #1 on New England.

And AJ is gonna be catching up on his sideline reading this season, apparently.

Hope those on the fence a few weeks ago took my advice.

The WR1 for Maye moving forward.
His veteran ball skills teaching the WR room.

So glad I have him with bye weeks here. And he might replace AJB as my starter.

might?

I had to drop him this AM because Bowers.

LOL - random picked up the Jet's TE. And I have Ebuka, ODunze, CeeDee Tet, and just in case R Rice.

But that 10/150 - I saw it coming. He's the perfect fit.

Traded him for two thirds. Don't care if he goes back to being his younger self, I doubled up what I paid at the end of the last season.
