WR T. Owens Practices Friday, Still Questionable

AP via ESPN.com - [Full Article]

Dallas Cowboys WR Terrell Owens participated in practice again on Friday morning and remains questionable for Sunday's game as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Tennessee Titans. HC Bill Parcells addressed the media on Friday and said he would probably make a "game-time decision" on Owens.

After listening to his pc, I'd be surprised if he plays let alone starts. It is being reported that Elderado is looking good though.

Because TO even his the field the same day he was released from the hospital tells me that he is doing everything he can to get out there and be ready for the game.

Parcells like this kind of work ethic, so...why not?

This entire situation stinks of something.

To me, he has to be rushing himself back onto the field to make people forget about what happened. That's bad, bad news.

Here is the PC for those interested.

Keep 1 thing in mind. For away games he does not let players travel with the team if they are listed OUT. To me by Parcells stating he will travel to Tennesse = he plays.

Parcells:

Your White Sox aren't doing well Mickey. That's the first thing I do every morning. Check the stats.

Nothing new this morning. Everyone practiced. No new injuries and we will make some game-time decisions.

Not sure what we will do on punt returns. It just depends on which WR we take.

(Owens) looks like he can do everything he needs to do.

We will have a little coaches meeting after this and discuss personnel

He (Owens) wouldn't go if I thought he was making mental errors or not ready. I am not going to make any more comments on that so you can speculate til Saturday and check with your sources that don't know anything. I haven't told anyone anything.

Look, I just have limited info given to me (on Owens). I will just evaluate him by what I see at practice.

I don't know if he has opened things up for other players (Owens). You would have to ask other DC's that. He may have some impact on their gameplan. How much I can't tell.

We will see if Watkins has corrected his problem. He needs to tackle better for his own safety. I don't care if it was because of an injury, he was putting himself in danger.

I told you yesterday. I am in charge of coaching the team. I have a turtle shell to all of this (Owens stuff)

You are asking me an ambiguous question here. If a player is extremely problamatic is it worth it. Sometimes it is, and I'm not talking about any specific player. I'm not talkng about Terrell Owens or anyone else. The same thing happens with coaches. Some of them aren't worth it either. What I try to do is to take a player that has a reputation that was perceived to be a certain way and I found it to be the contrary. That has turned out really well for me. We're a little early in the season to be passing judgements on what's going to happen. We need to see if things are going to slow down to a normal place and see what we have here.

You know, some of the very best players I ever have, like Keith Byers, Bryan Cox, I wish I had those players my whole career. They were just good football players that knew how to play the game. As long as you were straight with them they were fine.

We had a lot to do during the bye week. I felt like we could utilize this time here. In fact, I'm not giving my coaches this afternoon off, but they don't know that yet. We have stuff to do before they leave.

I didn't alter practice in any way today outside of moving it up 15 minutes.

As I said yesterday, I have to go by the people I am hearing talk and it's , look I have to assume that things occurred the way they are being reported now. I don't have any reason not to. I wouldn't give my public opinion on anything because I am not qualified. I just hope things go on from here.

Will you at least tell us if you are taking him (Owens) to Tennessee? I am taking him to Tennessee... that's all...

Hello otis, since Tuesday night I've read ever report, seen every news report, listen to what everyone had to say. I've seen Owens pratice and he looks very good. Up til I heard Bill's pc, I thought without a doubt he's playing, he looked good and was running very well. The reason why T.O. took the extra meds is this, during the practice (Tuesday morning) T.O. was catching passes without any soreness in his hands. To make sure everything was o.k. (with his hands) he asked the QBs to throw the ball harder and that's when the pain started in his hands. This concerns me greatly.

Besides, Bill won't say if T.O. is starting or not, Hurd is running the the first team. T.O. may be nothing but a decoy. I'll wait and see what will be said on Saturday. I have T.O. and right now he's on the bench until I know for a fact that he's starting AND contributing to the team.

thanks, good stuff esp. re: his hand hurting after the QBs threw the ball harder. He's on my bench also, guess we've both got a decision to make.

I've got other options but the matchup is just so juicy...

There are only a few guys that I'll listen to locally. I'll pay very close attention Saturday night and Sunday morning and post here if I find something of interest. JWalk is on bye this week and I really would like to see T.O. get out there. The next three games are perfect for him.Ten #21 against the pass

Phily #26 against the pass

Houston last (dead last) against the pass

He has the potential to put up some great numbers.

I just don't think BP takes anyone along with the team on the road with the intention of being a decoy. Add this quote from his PC...

only reaffrims my belief.I'll be surprise if T.O doesn't play.

May be wishful thinking but an injection in the hand before the game and one at half time can take care of the large bulk of that pain. All he needs to do is be able to hold on to the ball.

It's tough to read Parcells, BUT:Wouldn't it be a bigger distraction if he took TO to Tennessee and then didn't play him? With everything considered, the best thing to do is play TO, so the media can stop this BS speculation circus. If he plays, the story is that he played and we start talking about football again. If he sits, the media can speculate that maybe he wasn't injured, but there is something else going on...

Bottom line-Parcells wants to win this game. TO has practiced and supposedly looked good.

He plays this week. And plays well.

Keep in mind, too, that that was 5 days before the game. T.O. said the swelling's gone down, and the hand will have had 5 more days to heal. Some extra pain after extra hard throws on Tuesday doesn't bother me. I'm starting T.O. unless he's ruled out.

:goodposting: I think the only reason why Parcells has not announced TO as the starter is just in case some new negative part of the story came out, and than Parcells would have to back track on his statements. There are too many questions yet to tell if this story is over, but the best way for the Cowboys and TO to move on is him going out and playing against the Titans.

Parcells is not a guy to take a team lightly so the fact that they are playing the inferior Titans will not effect his decision. I'm 100% sure that TO will play tomorrow.

This weeks story will slowly be quieted, only to move onto the next chapter of the TO soap opera of him playing in Philadelphia next week.

If he does not play it will not be due to the injury IMO. He was not limited in practice and I believe he made all his catches.

But if he was really attempting suicide???? Maybe a doctor will recommend a time out.

I've got him in my starting lineup for right now.

Dallas needs a win. Only one time per year does your team get to come out of a bye. The Cowboys are 12-5 after a bye since it was instituted in 1990.

Cowboys :: WR

WR T. Owens Expected To Play?

Clarence E. Hill, Fort Worth Star-Telegram - [Full Article]

WR Terrell Owens will play today against the Titans, a source said Saturday night. The source said HC Bill Parcells wouldn't have allowed Owens to travel if he wasn't going to play. He practiced for the first time in a week Thursday and practiced again Friday. After being released from the hospital Wednesday, Owens said it was his intention to play against the Titans. LINK

RW

Any word whether he plays the whole game? I see the potential for this to be a 20-30 play limit for TO like we've seen with other players returning from injury. With the possibility for a big Cowboys lead, there is a chance Bill may sit him down once the game is in hand (no TO-injury pun intended).

On the Elderado show Friday, he said he was ready to go and the hand was fine. The Dallas Morning News is reporting his playing. But he's list as Questionable.

This is from CBS Sportsline (although they're not always accurate and they're relying on ESPN)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Terrell Owens, WR DAL

News: According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Cowboys WR Terrell Owens will not only play Sunday at Tennessee, but will be in the starting lineup as well.

Analysis: So far only one source has reported the information that Owens will be playing on Sunday. The word from everyone else remains that he will be a gametime decision. Take what you want from the latest ongoings surrounding T.O., but Fantasy owners are advised to track this situation all the way to an hour before kickoff, when inactives are announced.

Thanks for this posting, the local sports show will be coming on soon, hopefully they'll have something we can go on. I do find it interesting that the local paper still have him listed as Questionable.Edittoadd: The Cowboys Pre-Game will be starting at 9:00am central.

I don't know why he wouldn't play the whole game. Those 'other' players you mention are generally coming off of ankle/knee/hamstring injuries where their bodies take a pounding on every play. In this case, it's different because he's coming off of a hand injury which wouldn't put any real strain on his 'injury'...unless Bledsoe hits him with a rocket and re-injures it. ...but I assume that's not a real concern or the team physicians wouldn't be allowing him to come back so soon. JMO.

Pretty sure the hand has been reinforced with pins. He shouldn't be at any risk to reinjure it.

Should just be a matter of how he handles the pain and whether he can close his hand to catch the ball.

I heard this is the same guy who came back from a broken bone once in a superbowl and played pretty well. ;)

Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Terrell Owens (questionable, hand) will play Sunday against the Titans.

Owner Jerry Jones, Hill, and Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News all believe T.O. will play. Cowboys coach Bill Parcells in his pressers warned against anyone saying they had "insider" info, but all signs point to Owens suiting up after he practiced Thursday and Friday.

FWIW, pre-game is saying that Elderado is in fact playing. Ex-Cowboy Larry Brown said that he's talk to him (Elderado) and he feels as though he has something to prove and has shown Bill in practice this week that he's ready and fired up to play.

I know there's been some speculation, this is just for those that need some comfirmation.

If anything change I certainly post.

Let's GO! Elderado! :football:

Man the titans are going to be hitting the heck out of that hand every time he comes off the line of scrimmage. He is going to be in some pain, but I dont think you ever want to mess with a wounded lion. Especially when your just the Titans.

I really hope "Eldorado" catches on with this board. Obviously it's pretty important to you that it does...Edited to spell Eldorado correctly... ;)

I got this off of the CBSSportsline news

News: According to Ed Werder of ESPN, Cowboys WR Terrell Owens will not only play Sunday at Tennessee, but will be in the starting lineup as well.

It looks as if OWens is going to start. I am not trying to make thei an ACF thread, but is he worth a start for my team over the likes of Wayne and Colston?

That's his name, but I don't see why it catching on would be important to me. Maybe you know something I don't, but that's not important, only updates.

Hello a_rackowski, during the "T.O. Show" this was addressed, and he said that they can hit his hand all that like, but his hand is fine. Take it for what you will, but I heard him say this myself.Good luck

What's the source of the "Elderado" name? I've heard it, but don't know the background. Thanks.

Ed Werder says TO will 100% start. Will wear a padded glove and Hurd will cut into some of his plays.

From the Pre-Game Show just said that expect T.O. to make an impact. Expectaion is if the Cowboys have 60 offensive plays expect him to be in 45 of those plays.

TO may go OFF today. Pacman Jones is just the type of guy to run smack at him and motivate him. Also, TO knows all eyes are on him today. Anything less than 100 yards and a TD would be a disappointment.
