While McLaurin is a great guy and is always a team player, the WR to own on this roster is going to be J. Dotson. or can we call him datsun 280z or datsun b-210?
he was incredible in preseason week 1. yep it's fake games and so on, but Bienemy knows how to spread the wealth. these WRs are going to catch a ton of passes this season.

Hah! I never thought about that. The Commanders now have a "McLaren" and a "Datsun" for their starting receivers.

Not good. That’s one of the injuries that worries me. Really sucks, Terry is one of my favorite players in the league but this is worrisome to me. Plus that’s my team and we’re trying to get something going post Snyder. Dammit.

Oh god no. I finally drafted TMC for the 1st time…in a high stakes league.
Turf toe ruined a season for Davonte Adams…the only year I ever had him.
Hurts Howell’s upside, too.
Dotson on the rise, and also Dyami Brown, who’s been having a nice camp.

Brown is worth a pick up but I think this is 1- Dotson way up (was already very high) and 2- Curtis Samuels is worth a stash. He should have been drafted anyway but it would be and ADP bump for me.

I like Samuel, but he’s kind of a gadget guy for them.
IMO Brown is the sleeper here. But I could be wrong.
Worth noting, he’s reconnecting with his college QB Howell.

ETA: not to whistle past the graveyard here. I’m certainly hoping TMc can bounce back from this quickly. As I mentioned, I do have a share.

Ron Rivera loves Curtis Samuel. He followed him over from Carolina. He loves that dude.
If more targets were to become available I definitely feel a large portion would funnel his way.

Oh I know - I rostered him for years.
If TMc misses time, I wouldn’t doubt that all 3 of Dotson, Samuel & Brown would get a bump.’maybe Gibson would be in line for more receptions as well.
It only really sucks for TMc owners. I wish I had shares of Dotson anywhere.
Pretty sure Samuel is rostered in most formats. Brown is likely available. I have him in a 16-team dynasty.

Doesn’t matter what Ron thinks, but Bienemy sees some diversity in him. I haven’t seen or heard anything to indicate Dyami Brown is anything more than he has been, which is a poor route runner that is kind of fast and will fall down running go routes and can make a play here and there . He would need to be significantly better than he has been to matter for fantasy. A flier, yes. No more though.

Might wanna look closer because he’s been kinda buzzy all off-season.
Again, no guarantees, but in deeper leagues he could be worth a flier. He & Howell have a connection.

Turf toe is like you pulled/stretched out the toe too far and little pain but it's not that bad. Then ya step and every step hurts in an annoying way. Ya stay off it and it feels good, all set, then one funky step and suddenly it's back. That's the worst part. How much it almost makes liar out of you, to your own self.
The big toe is attached to the ball of your foot. This is the reminder every time it hurts. One day it's fine running forward but when ya cut ya feel it. Next day it hurts when you run straight but not when you cut.
They used to inject some junk in the gaps between the bones. It did not help. It hurt worse and only good in theory. Pain killers help but you still feel it and it's still annoying.
I know of some guys that iced it all the time, as much as they could, for a few weeks and it healed up. I know of some that did this and it didn't.

He beat the Titans and I watched him often for FF after that. It was like the Titans stink and that's only why he did well. He never did much the other weeks.
I expect McLaurin plays at a slower speed and they may sub some sure, but BNME probably has plans for Gibson to be the big play guy. It was a common offseason topic that was overblown but I think that conversation is some confirmation that he's already got some plays ready for him

I agree it could be turf toe and if so they should put him on the shelf for at least a month. I think it's best to just wait and see though the x-rays were negative according to reports. Till there is a diagnosis we won't know for sure. The good news for the moment is that it is not a fracture. The fact he threw his shoe indicates he thought it was something serious. If he has had turf toe before he might already know.
It's the most worrisome injury that is typically of the non-season ending variety that a WR can have IMO due to it's propensity to linger.
From a fantasy angle for Terry I'm pretty much off him as I don't foresee his dip likely being enough to assuage my concerns over this injury. If it was as simple as "he's going to miss 3-5 weeks and be good to go" I'd feel better about it but I've just experienced this injury mess with players all year.

Again, anyone who rostered Davonte Adams in 2019 remembers how on fire he was prior to that, and how it derailed his season.
He tried to play through it but ended up missing 4 games.
Hopefully TMc’s isn’t as bad. I just googled it and there are degrees of turf toe. Hopefully his is on the mild side.

Yeah I hate turf toe the most for the same reasons. Dotson has been one of my highest rostered players in all formats before this happened though. Even if McLaurin were healthy and stayed that way I still would say Dotson is at least a couple rounds too cheap.

Just heard on the radio Rappaport reported MRI was good news and optimism for week 1. More day to day than week to week.
I’m still worried but sounds like this was the best case result.

But does EB like him? He's designing and calling the plays. I get no sense he does and might not only prefer Dotson, but also Brown/Gibson/C. Turner. Hard to tell since the whole offense is likely not on display in preseason.

If it's turf toe we can't know the grade:
Grade 1 - 3 weeks healing time
Grade 2 - 6 weeks (back on the field in 3 or 4 but not 100% and it lingers)

A coach saying a player is day to day when they dont actually have to say anything regarding injuries though could mean anything though and turf toe injuries (if McCauren has one) are very troubling this time of the season. This type of injury can linger and hamper a player the whole season.
Twitter doctors and coach statements cannot be used as credible sources, IMO. But two concrete pieces of information have been released that provide context. 1. X-rays taken during the game came back negative. 2. An MRI taken the day after the came showed "no significant damage." From this information, it seems likely that the injury will not keep McClarin out for a long time (like 1/2 the season). But, with that said, there is a lot of variability in how players respond to these types of injuries. WIth some guys it lingers, with others they bounce back.I dont know either. While this is a totally unscientific take, my sense is that McClaurin has shown himself to be a very sturdy athlete. Over his five year career, he has only missed 4 games and none the last two years. If you forced me to bet, I'd say that he would play week 1 and actually be productive. Maybe I am being overly optimistic. But my thoughts are based on two things: 1.) clearly not SUPER serious 2.) McClarin's history of health and also rising to occasion when he's needed to.
From a FFL perspective, this doesn't mean I wouldn't be cautious. Maybe bump him down a round or 2 in my draft or sit him week 1 til I see what he can do. But if everyone else in my league is buying twitter hype, I don't hesitate to draft him a round after he was originally projected to go...

The bottom line for me is that we just won't know. I'm not sure anyone knows. We all just have to wait and see how his toe responds. If they give a grade to the sprain (turf toe) maybe we will have a better idea. I'm hoping they give it some time even if it means he misses a couple of weeks of the regular season. I would rather have that than Terry come back too soon and have a setback.

That is the other concern with this injury is that it is something players can try to play through, but they might not be at their best doing so, and they can reaggrivate the injury doing so, or injure something else due to overcompensating to avoid reaggrivsting it.
Its an injury that just needs time and rest to heal, but there is no time once the season starts to do that, as the coaches and players want to practice and play as soon as possible.

As far as the coaches saying day to day that could mean what it sounds like and the player is fully recovered in a couple weeks or it could be the coaches are saying its day to day 2 to 3 months from now as has happened plenty of times before. Its coach speak and you never can really know what that actually means.

There's really no way to know right now. We haven't seen how their offense will play with Howell and with Bienemy calling the plays. Dotson's very good in my opinion. He just gets open, and when the ball's nearby he usually gets it. McLaurin has been good, there's no knocking him, but turf toe is one of those things which can linger, and can also reoccur as the season progresses. Right now I think McLaurin's the better WR of the 2, but it's close, and next year Dotson may be better (without any dropoff from McLaurin).
Agreed, I just thought maybe people were over adjusting. A few weeks ago, Terry was going Round 4 and Jahan round 11. Now it seems like they're both going about Round 7, and am seeing Dotson picked before McLaurin regularly now. I loved Dotson this year but seems the hype train is out there and everyone is reaching for him.

Dotson and TMc went back-to-back in that order early Round 8 of my 12 team PPR. I passed on both in that round for Gibson. I am a huge fan of McLaurin, and was looking for Flex players there, but have a hard and fast rule against ****ing with the dreaded turf toe. Seen way too many fantasy season's destroyed by that particular injury.
