WR - Waiver Wire Work (1 Viewer)

My league's free agent list has been thoroughly reaped. The highest scoring pass catcher available is Heath Miller and we don't start a TE. I'm watching guys like Peerless and BMW but probably wouldn't rush out to pick them up even if they had a big game.

Anyone have any guys they're monitoring that they think may come on as the season progresses?

My apologies if this is better suited for the ACF, but I'm not really asking for add/drop advice here.

Greg Lewis is looking like a nice bye week fill in...

I just picked up Brandon Jones.

He's starting with Givens out, and givens the way David has been playing, I wouldn't be surprised if he takes a larger role in the offense as they try to evaluate players for next year.

Greg Lewis is a decent one. I also like Bryant Johnson, he's been practicing with Lineart goes to a comfort level with a WR he could see some decent numbers.

How about Vikings WR Marcus Robinson?Last week's numbers5 catches, 78 yards, 1 TD.

but really-how much is brandon jones going to do with a rookie vince young at the helm?

i picked up wilford for the week. might only be a one week thing, but the jets pass D isn't too good and wilford can make big plays (though he hasn't this season yet).

Agreed, although I'm in a keeper league, so I'm looking longer-term. I think for redraft purposes, the TEs on Tennessee are the receivers to have (if that).

Brandon Jones

Scouting report suggests he may be more of a possession receiver than a down field threat - which is fine.

But, as in my case, I don't know if he'll be too valuable in a redraft this year.

I noticed flashes of big-play ability when watching him last year. His upside is more than just a possesion Wr.

Love BJones too, just don't see him having much value in redraft unless he locks down a starting spot and VY lasers in on him.

I'd say BMW is worth a flier if you have the room. Maybe Chad Jackson if he is floating around.

Also, what about WRs that have already been abandoned by impatient owners? Michael Clayton might be out there. It remains to be seen what the passing distrib will be with Gradkowski, could benefit MC.

Sami Parker has been cut in my league.

Koren Robinson is worth a flier, esp. if you award pts for return yards.

Brandon Lloyd is prob. sitting out there.

Matt Jones is getting ditched in a lot of leagues, as is Cedric Benson. I'm stuck now due to roster limits, but looking at ways to do a 2 for 1 trade, open up a roster spot and stick Benson on my team.

:goodposting: Picked him up off waivers for that very reason.

Marcus and Koren Robinson have been snatched up, as well as Greg Lewis and Chad Jackson.

Samie Parker's out there, Eric Parker and McCardell too.

Man, it's slim. I'm not looking to pick anything up right now persay, just wondering about guys that may be under some of your radars. Sleepers, if you will.

I picked up Brandon Jones too...but in a dynasty league...so I'm not expecting much, ifanything, out of him this year.

He's been on the outskirts of my radar for a while now. I think he's pretty talented.

For this year...you never know. Vince is going to have to throw to someone, right?

Talent + opportunity is all you can ask for when it comes to young players sitting on a waiver wire.

He's on a lot of dynasty rosters, but Vincent Jackson is another one to consider. McCardell doesn't seem to be the guy anymore, and Parker doesn't strike me as a go-to guy.

At some point, Rivers will have to chuck the ball and may not lock into Gates like Brees did. Someone beyond Gates has to step forward. Might as well be Jackson.

:goodposting: I'm keeping my eye on VJ as well. I'll probably join the list of impatient owners who drop Michael Clayton to get him. I have no faith in the TB offense going forward. Kenyatta Jones going down only makes matters worse than they already were.

rod smith is on my waiver wire. is he officially cooked or will he picked him up?

has walker passed smith in the pecking order or do they make a decent 1-2 punch?

i suspect smith might be on other peoples WW too since he was hurt and then the broncos had a bye week.

I think Jones is worth holidng onto if you aren't counting on him to contribute right now. His schedule after the bye week is gravy (assuming he can get healthy).

 Wow, MJones shouldn't be on anyone's WW IMHO. The guy is just loaded with talent, and when he's playing, Lefty looks to him often. If he could stay healthy he'd easily crack the top 20 WRs I think. I just think he's THAT good.Oh, and that's not a knock on your leage BTW, I have no idea what your scoring system is, so perhaps there is a reason. Or perhaps roster limits dicatated it. Just stating that if Jones is available in a typical league he should be picked up and stashed until healthy. Those that don't jump on that wagon will be sorry.

R. Smith is on my roster also, I had the same thought for this weeks waiver wire to drop him or not. Decided against it. After getting his head rocked the other week I think he should get single man coverage with Walker making a impact. Just waiting for the right matchup to see if Plummer can get him the ball. Will be monitoring his targets to verify his usefullness over the next 2 weeks.

I suspect Rod can still turn it around. Plummer and the Broncos passing game has been terrible. At Rod's age you do not know because WR tend to lose it quickly when age catches up but this could also just be due to how poor the Broncos passing game has been.

I think in Tenn. Bobby Wade is a guy worth watching. He has been practicing with Vince Young on the second team and they have a little chemistry right now. He may be the guy Vince feels the most comfortable with. He should be available on most waiver wires.

I'll defend it with this angle because I just dropp M. Jones in my league. He's definitely out for week 5 and has a bye in week 6. With his hammy being the issue, it was worth the gamble to drop him and pick up a healthy replacement. It's a good possibility with the health and bye issues that he'll stay on waivers and I can scoop him back up after week 6. The emergence of Williams also helps to keep other owners off of him for a couple of weeks.
