WR Zay Flowers, BAL (1 Viewer)

Why has there been no report on his injury? Shouldn't we have gotten something––anything––by now?

Because the Ravens are notorious liars, especially about injuries. You'll hear something later in the week, though. Flowers was running around out there after the injury, so I'm guessing he'll be ok unless there's been some kind of setback.

He wasn't ok though. He was clearly a decoy just toughing it out to help the team. I would imagine his ankle swelled up after the game and he'd be limited at best all week. Probably another decoy game coming up as well.

You're only going to use a guy as a decoy who is on the up and up, getting back into game shape, etc.

If a guy still has to coddle the injury, i.e. rest, get the swelling back down, you're not going to use him and risk reaggravation...not this early in the season at least.

If he's on the field this week, it's likely because he feels good enough to be able to play without hampering his offense.

My :2cents:

Back at practice today. Anyone see any internet doctors outlook on his injury?
Low or High Ankle?
Bent awkwardly, was writhing around in agony, but went back out there, probably not moving 100%.

Didn't hesitate placing him in my lineups once he was good to go, and almost a huge day had Lamar not missed him being wide open for an easy 31 yard score on their second drive.

Finally I’ve started him in the correct week. From losing me my match by failing to score 3.6 points 2 weeks ago to today. He really seems to be getting more consistent now if you look at him from week 5

I started Flowers this time. My apologies for anyone hoping he'd put up double-digit numbers like he did the past two games.

Same. I like to sit him during his big weeks, and try to battle back from his no-shows.
I had the option to keep Zay as an 8th round pick this year and decided against it. The Flowers roller coaster last year was too nauseating. I'm sure at the end of the year his stats will look good, but if you have him on a roster you know he's not reliable for fantasy. It's not his fault, it's the way game scripts go in BAL.

Got me again. Sat him last week and played him last night to see every WR plus the water boy score…
LOL. Same thing here. When I start him, he sucks and when I don't, he blows up. Unbelievable. Lamar has 4 TDs passes and everyone but Zay got one :wall:

I think he's a sell. I love packaging players like this with pick(s) or other players s to upgrade at WR or at another position.

1st half/2nd half splits for Zay…

Catches/targets/yards
1st half: 49/75/687
2nd half: 25/41/382

I think it has less to do with the offense holding him back and more about game script and the way in which the Ravens have been winning games. Clearly the offense is featuring him early.

That is a good thought. The tough part is I think Baltimore’s defense is a bit stronger this year. Without a Derrick Henry injury, I think we see similar results from Flowers.

Agree. I don't know that the splits will be as harsh, but I think the totals have a good chance to get there.

I love this kid, but Baltimores game script in the 2nd half greatly reduces his value imo. Barring the wheels falling off Henry this year; it’s more frustrating box scores ahead of him. Monster 1st half’s with countless 2/14 scoring in the back end. But if this helps bump his TD production he could exceed his ADP.

If they actually make a point to get him the ball, he's absolutely got top-10 upside. He wins deep, he wins with RAC, its just been volume and bad TD luck. He only had 4 of the 41 TD catches last year, as Andrews/Bateman combined for 20 of them. If that evens out, and he can maintain or increase the 25% target share he had last year, it doesn't need to be the 47% it was against Buffalo, he could really take off and be your classic 3rd year breakout guy.
