Shutting down the rock star draft was wrongly done moderation. I pay for the bandwidth here, and that was just a bad decision. No longer.  @Joe Bryant, those people in the draft were more than respectful, and trying to make the best out of a bad and mortal situation. I don't care if I get banned, this was poor judgment.

You pay for the bandwidth here? How much is your subscription?

Speaking as someone who wasn't participating in that awful, amoral draft, I know that I feel safer knowing its closed.

You people should be ashamed of yourselves

Why would some doodle head shut down the music draft?  The moderators here are nuts.
Joe shut it down. It's been a rough day for everybody -- perhaps a nerve was touched by last night's events. It's a shame, really; I felt like we were honoring those that had passed rather than joking about it.

I thought it was because of my posting of a reference to a Monty Python scene related to a post about one of yours. I have sent Joe a note apologizing. I would have appreciated warnings, but if it was me I’ll take one for the team.

Seriously?! Wtf man.

With the bs and nastiness that so frequently happens in here, THAT warranted removal? A bunch of the more mild mannered folk enjoying themselves over a music draft? Because the musicians chosen were people who have died, died?

Mods, Joe Bryant... I'd honestly like an explanation as nothing I saw in there was remotely offensive. Is death offensive?

Ok... Just saw the locked thread.

@Joe 8ryant.... I've been here a long time.  I don't think I've ever genuinely objected to the moderation in regards to locked thread or suspensions. But...Imo, this decision is completely Draconian and off base. Because of the monty python reference? A couple posts that are self aware and questioning out loud as possibly being in bad taste? No maliciousness, nothing mean. You don't like it, ok... Edit or chop those posts. The whole thread? A bunch of well-meaning people being awesome with eachother (other than my ribbing of otb)

Please explain this further as it makes absolutely no sense to me.

I don't get the locking of the thread at all. We were paying tribute and discussing our heroes and inspirations that passed. Totally baffling.

Tom Petty not dead yet jokes are not going to fly. Find another board for it.

@Joe Bryant - Please check your messages, I sent you an apology last nite. My reference wasn't meant to be about Tom Petty or the events yesterday in Las Vegas; it was just about the line in the post.

Understood (I guess).

So chop the offending post, not the entire thread where 15 people have been awesomely respectful to eachother and the artists they're drafting.

We've never done the deadpool stuff or anything where a person dying is a plus. We're not going to have any thread where Tom Petty being the "steal" of the draft or a "value" pick as he died during the draft. I didn't delete it so you guys can copy over the stuff you want to another website or platform. But it's not going to be here. Sorry.

I very much doubt that you are sorry, @Joe 8ryant.  That is just ridiculous.  The music drafts have always been friendly and respectful.  You seem to have a problem with that.

I'll go back and re-read. I recall people even questioning their own posts around Petty as they made them.

Doesn't discount 15 music loving people have spent weeks participating in a very friendly and mutually respectful manner about artists- yes, dead artists- in a very respectful way.

If dead people are now out of discussion, history is in trouble. Please rethink this.

Just to be clear here, people talking about how to best benefit after a player gets severely injured in the shark pool is okay, but people who enjoy music talking about the greats that have gone before isn't?

Jokes about Petty aside that draft had been going pretty well (even if I owed a few picks).

I just don't get it.

I don't have much skin in this game as I wasn't even following along but it seems like the distasteful posts could be deleted, a warning giving and then move on.  No?

Our thread got blown up?  Wow, I am running out of reasons to come here.  Awful decision.  I started at the other board,  maybe ill finish there.

Yeah, this place is nuts sometimes.

Or speculating that the guy who killed 50+ people was innocent and was planted in the room as a cover up.

We are all music nerds and loved Petty. It was a brutal day yesterday and losing Tom was piling on at that point. Just numbing day- weekend really. People often use humor when they are upset to cope. The draft never ever was about rooting for death, hoping for death or benefiting from death. It was just a bunch of music nerds reminiscing about legends lost.

Yea, I'm guessing you didn't bother to read the rest of the thread. Each poster contributing to that thread was respectful and educational and each pick was a tribute to the artists.

We were, but Joe lacked this understanding, which is why he lacked any empathy for the folks contributing to the thread.
