WTH is actually wrong with Dez Bryant? (1 Viewer)

His injury history is a broken bone while returning a kick and this recent leg problem...call it whatever. I'm not sure of the long history of injuries that have kept Dez out like Cobalt is saying. In his rookie year rookie year I'm pretty sure he was playing with a strained hammy and putting up good numbers. In fact, he might have been 1 of only a few Cowboys who played hard after the Romo injury and the SS Cowboys were sinking. "I dont want to further interupt the I own Dez and he is costing me fantasy points so he is soft thread".
Missed almost all of training camp his rookie season with a high ankle sprain.

Seriously, you take such effort to be the official Cowboys apologist, i think it's caused you to become amnestic to facts that don't fit with your rah-rah Bias. Back, hip, ankle, ribs, and hamstring problems caused Dez to miss a ton of practice time and put him in Questionable/GTD status for much of the year. This is all before the ankle fracture that required surgery.Unlike Irvin, Dez has not shown the warrior like competitiveness that Irvin had. Irvin did everything hard--he partied hard, he played hard. Hebwas reckless, but he cared. Dez can't be bothered so much as to pick up his pants or turn his cap on straight. His demeanor and off-the-field transgressions speak to a sense of entitlement he thinks he has that I certainly suspect causes him to be late for meetings, skimp on his training/conditioning, puts him at risk for further injury, and limits his practice time between games resting these nicks and bruises.Let's please not confuse Dez Bryant with Hall of Famer, Michael Irvin.

Blame the cowboys and blame dez. Wasn't bryant lost for the season last year due to punt returning? If he does not practice tmrw, he will be a bum this week. Discount that fluke (yes, it was a fluke) 3rd down play, and dez had a terrible game--yeah yeah, take away someone's X play, but having a hobbled qb, a hobbled wr, and a fluke play DOES qualify as a fluke game.

I see Dez playing b/c Dallas knows they are going to lose with their other wrs, but as a fantasy concern.....hes benchable if he does not practice tmrw.

This damn Dez Bryant. Tired of this stuff.

I see world's of potential and him blowing up to a top 5 Fantasy WR, but the dude just can't stay on the field and it is maddening.

Being the official "Cowboys apologist" I took a walk into a Cowboys MB and asked a simple question with no background story to bias the voting. I simply asked is Dez soft? After 20 replies, I dont have a single yes.

I can see what Cobalt is saying about the injuries and off the field immaturity but I can't agree with saying Dez doesn't have heart. Last season when everyone else was playing like duds and giving up he was the only one with a spark. I watched them live a couple of times and the guy does have passion. I also think he will grow up some he is just 22 or 23. Who knows about the injuries though.

I dont disagree with any of the off the field observations. However, saying he is soft on the field is just not accurate.Sorry for arguing this point but it bugs me, especially coming from another Cowboy fan.

hes not soft. no one in the nfl is.

Is it just me or is today's fantasy nfl obsessed with the injury report. I gotta think back in the day, when every fantasy nutcase wasn't plugged into rotoworld, people were getting injured plenty and taking a practice or two off to rest their pulled muscles.

I never said he was soft on the field. I think I even said he's a "beast.". But, even with your incomplete memory of last year, it's hard to deny he's had a difficult time staying on the field.

At this point, I dont know where you stand anymore and at this point dont even care to argue anymore. Here's some ammo:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IRVING -- On a day when former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman was at practice with a television crew from Fox, Cowboys second-year wide receiver Dez Bryant was the last player onto the practice field. He showed up late and hit the field holding his cleats in his hand and wearing shorts and a tank top, not the customary attire for a Cowboys player who isn't practicing. Bryant took time to put his shoes on and then began to get ready to work with one of the athletic trainers on the side -- he still isn't practicing with his deep thigh bruise this week and his status for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions is in doubt -- when coach Jason Garrett quickly called Bryant over for a conversation on the sideline. After a quick talk, Bryant sprinted into the locker room and re-emerged a few minutes later wearing a long-sleeved white, practice shirt and no sign of just a tank top anymore. Garrett couldn't have been happy with Bryant's appearance and the fact that he was late getting onto the practice field to do his rehab work. That was apparent by the sideline conversation and Bryant immediately going into the locker room to change shirts. This has been an ongoing issue with Bryant, who even in college at Oklahoma State showed up late to meetings and missed rehab work with athletic trainers.

What a mess this head case is. Soft as charmin and dumber then dirt. Talent without a brain or heart doesn't last in the NFL.

 Right, because I've been so ambiguous. To quote: "He's an elite talent, with a nickle head and a penny of maturity."That mother effer. Team needs him so bad now, and he's (allegedly) jerking around with his rehab.

Couldn't this apply to Kenny Britt before the season? Dez wasn't staring at a commissioner levied suspension this off-season. He's hurt and yet still came down with the game-winning play against Washington. Yes, I'm frustrated but anybody who was praising Britt through 3 weeks forgot all the questions surrounding his character and his health pretty fast because he produced. When Dez is healthy he'll produce at an elite level. If the microscope wasn't on him because of the injury the story you quoted would be a non-issue. Yes he needs to grow up, but I don't see him doing anything worse than Marshall in the offseason.

Sigh.

(KFFL) Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (thigh) was able to participate in the walk-through practice Saturday, Oct. 1, but he remains a game-time decision for Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. "We'll see," Bryant said about his availability.

If I can make it to them with him riding my bench--before the fantasy playoffs would be nice...

Well he didn't quite save my team after loosing Andre early, but it was close.

What happened to him in the second half? He didn't seem to do much late in the game when they needed him.

Romo started passing to the defense instead.
:lmao:Looking at the play-by-play the first pick six was intended for Dez and then he had a 34 yard reception overturned midway through the third, but it seemed like Romo didn't even target him the rest of the way.
