For newbies, VBD is a style of drafting.  It stands for Voraciously based drafting.  You want a team that is voracious. Main Entry: vo·ra·cious Pronunciation: vo-'rA-sh&s, v&-Function: adjectiveEtymology: Latin vorac-, vorax, from vorare to devour; akin to Old English Acweorran to guzzle, Latin gurges whirlpool, Greek bibrOskein to devourDate: 16351 : having a huge appetite : RAVENOUS2 : excessively eager : INSATIABLE <a voracious reader>- vo·ra·cious·ly adverb- vo·ra·cious·ness nounIf you draft a team of hungry and excessively eager players there is no doubt you will rule all of Yahoo.Good Luck.
and the night at the improv begins. :wall:
Easy SandBagger. Another reason I come to this board is a good laugh. Many of the posters have a very good sense of humor and I get a kick out of reading their input. Yes, it may have nothing to do with fantasy football, but I would venture that fun is part of the overall experience... so relax a little. Oh Crap that is two posts this afternoon. I have to go do something more constructive.

 MBC (message board credibility, i.e. someone who articulates their thought, idea or info without trying to prove that they have a bigger johnson than the next guy) actually means something to me and i respect opinions from those guys over the pissing contests that occur frequently (see any o smith thread)...having said that though, i do enjoy reading threads in the shark pool about WDIS, or should i start so-in-so eventhough he's on a bye...it's kinda, like, watching a train wreck that's about to happen...
lmao @ MBC.was that Zaphod who did that post a few months back?
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: LOFLYeah, that was me...although I didn't factor in the 'bigger johnson' criteria in rev 1.0
btw, sweet vonnegut sig (i'm assuming that's where you got it).

On a more serious note...Half of the guys who used to spend their time scratching out dozens of thoughtful, but half-finished treatises on interesting subjects that people could debate and add to are now spending an entire week, crafting one polished, completly formed article with fancy graphics and footnote references to Drinen's database so they can pocket a few of Joe's sheckels.Plus, Mid season is always a dull time as the only real discussions center on whether certain players count as busts or steals, which players are ready to emerge, and strength of schedule down the stretch. We're almost to the point of "strategy" discussions for teams positioning themselves for the playoffs, but even that centers mostly on individual player evaluations. Wait a few more weeks and a lot of people will start fading away when it is clear they have no shot at the playoffs. It will quiet down again soon.

And what's with all the duplicate posts on every single thing in fantasyland? Seriously...we're not even talking about underutilizing the freaking search feature here...I'm just saying, take a quick scan at the front page EVERYDAY and you'll see duplicate threads...P.S. - Just in case you guys didn't notice...the cheatsheets were screwed up earlier today.

As has been said before, the best time around these boards (IMO) is before the NFL Draft and then from about June to late August. No matter how bad the boards have gotten, I still like knowing that you had better check yourself before posting, otherwise you will get called on it. That is a good thing.

I just post in the FFA and come over here for some Bucs talk.Too many of the topics are the same. The day Alstott went down, there were like eight Michael Pittman threads all at once. That gets annoying after a while.I do poke my head into some topics (Dillon being an #######), but I generally try to stick to the FFA. If I'm really bored I'll come over here more.Posters are just smarter in the FFA

no, go right ahead. Trust me, I can dish it back. :brush:

As I say in my sig; You can say what you mean without saying it mean! The be excellent to each other rule violations should lead to more banning.

86 is f'n with us.
my head hurts trying to figure that out.i have no idea what's going on.
Sure you have no idea :bag: http://footballguys.net/forum/index.php?ac...=ST&f=7&t=42832
does it look like i know what's going on in that thread?
You STARTED that thread!I was hoping you could tell me what's going on :bag:
i was posting the answer key for the test capella has to take becuase he never pays attention in class and he's going to flunk out of college.he's always surfing the net.

The people snapping at people all the time for posting in the wrong forum at this site is ridiculous. This becomes as bad as people bashing others. Why do people who have been on this site longer think they know more about fantasy football just because thy are original members? Its like some of you guys think you created the game and it would not go on without your superior knowlege.Try giving some people a break when they post sometimes and maybe they will post more.Im sure alot of people have good things to say but feel they will get shut down right away.I do agree this should be a part of the pay content as it would weed out some stupidity, but some people should just lighten up.Have fun with it and let other people play cop.

I would prefer it if you used spaces after periods. You can do either one or two, although two is technically the correct way to do it.Thanks.

Yep, good call on the sig  ...back to topic for a minute...I just think with the rapid growth we lost some of the 'community' feel the boards once had. Some things are better now and some are worse, I would say that things are just "different" and people tend to hold on to the things that they are comfortable with.Back in the day, you had people that filled certain roles on the board. You knew what you got when you saw a post by that person. Now, you have more a fractured attitude to the boards. I just think overall, people feel like they have less invested in the boards and that in turn prompts more individuals to flame without provocation.

With that said, most of my legitimate postings in the Shark Pool occur preseason discussing drafting theories player analysis, and dynamic vbd. During the season there's not much to say. I don't ask others how to run my team, and really don't care about others' teams.
This is pretty much where I am as far as the Shark's Pool goes; some years ago I realized that I spend a whole lot more time and energy preparing for the next season during the "offseason"--and then in-season it's more a maintenance thing.I definitely post less in the FFA though--but I believe that's mostly because the final months on that board were very much dominated by the planned invasion of Iraq. I got really tired of butting heads on that issue, and I'd say many others did too judging from the way those 'discussions' died out with the new boards.

I haven't been around as long as some of you, but I've been around for a while, and I'd say it's not that different. There might be more people here, but the same thing happens - once you have a player on your team, you start arguing why they're the best. If you don't have a player, and have no chance of getting him, you start arguing why they're not going to keep it up. It's human nature, and I don't think the number or age of posters has much to do with it.

Isn't the obvious solution just to make the board yellow again? It was a kinder, gentler board. Thousands of points of light and whatnot.

Exactly what Im talking about sandbagger. Is everything correct?
:rotflmao: i'm sorry. that was too easy.if you have any problems with my posts, please PM Chemical X. he's my probation officer.

I think we'd have to move to a new color. Just going back and forth between yellow and power blue would suggest a Chargers-bias, and that would alienate Raider fans, which would be bad for business. (Not to mention it would be a shame to lose all the rubber skull masks and 80's heavy metal gear so close to Halloween.)

You have to remember that many of these guys didn't spend the off-season in the FFA like us. All of us FFA folks are used to flaming each other DAILY!! :rotflmao: Sometimes it was like a car crash in there. You would see a thread that you just KNEW was a wreck. But you had to look anyway!

For me, it has come down to the most vocal posters are always pimping "their" guys. They will not admit failure on a player drafted in the fourth round. They skewer a poster with "inside info" for having the audacity to post contrary to their player.
you know TommyGunZ personally?

I don't post as often since there is often more to do, given that football is actually being played now.I really don't care about the flaming since I usually post and don't look back.

I do find myself lurking more now but I must admit that it is nice to click on a thread and not have some unknown thread appear (the Yellow board). I also recall people complaining that the yellow color brought unwanted attention to their computer screen at work.

I agree with FantasyDog that many of the debates repeat themselves and after you have debated an issue two or three times - does the fourth time really appeal to you? Now a debate of a player's situation has to be somewhat unique to peak my interest. The real debates occur during the offseason anyway?

Different than in the past? Yes, but it's still the best place for football information on the web.

09

PS - I have the same name as on the old board, but now my 09 is in green. Wow, talk about an upgrade! :sarcasm:

I was going to say that thread had degenerated until Zippy posted! I post when I have time AND feel motivated (which varies quite a bit). I don't see too much difference between the old and new board except for what someone mentioned before about guys working for Joe impacting the quality of posts. There are still excellent threads on here on a regular basis. The mods could do a better job consolidating threads but who has time for that? Multiple threads really don't bother or anger me. As long as I get the info I'm looking for.

The main thing that I've gotten out of this thread is that Sandbagger and Air Fryar are one in the same. (which means 'bagger has gone a)uphill b)downhill since the board changed colors).

BTW, nice post moose.

the answer is B

i could sue you for defamation for calling me air fryar.and i know i've gone downhill on the new board. with the exception of one league, my overall fantasy football record is way worse this year than it has been in the last two.

maybe you could help and give me some advice?
