Yellowstone - Paramount TV (1 Viewer)

Holy ****. Watching lioness hit IMDb. The short hair cia badass I couldn't place

It's Jill Wagner from the OG wipeout

Noticing a lot of "cross-pollination" between these Taylor Sheridan shows, in terms of actors playing roles in multiple shows. Of course, Sheridan himself has been in Yellowstone and Lioness.

Additionally, Billy Bob's roommate in Landman has been in all three shows, if I'm not mistaken.

Jamie's most recent love interest (among other things) in Yellowstone made an appearance in the most recent episode of Lioness.

Pretty sure one of the politicians (who talks to Jamie about what to do with the ranch) also plays a lawyer in Landman.

And, Joe's husband in Lioness is played by the same guy who played the Dutton son killed off in the pilot episode of Yellowstone (that one I didn't catch until perusing through the cast of Yellowstone online).

There may be more, but that's five off the top of my head.

Edit: Just went back and read the last couple pages here. I hadn't made the connection between James Dutton's sister in 1883 and Yellowstone/Lioness.

Billy Bob’s oil rig working roommate on Landman is the fat/farting CIA operative guy on Lioness.

Also, the guy who played the sheriff (or some law enforcement guy) in Yellowstone is the head cop on Mayor of Kingstown (I think he is a co-producer or something with Sheridan on that one).

Good point. I forgot about that one.

2nd to last episode and they waste 15+ minutes so Sheridan can show his mug that added nothing to the show

Now they have to pack in the funeral, Jamie vs. Beth, and whatever this plan is that Casey came up with.
Maybe sell it to the Indian Chief, knowing he would protect most of it.

Did love the story Rip told on how he and Travis became friends.

Don’t forget the dancing and BBQ. Lots of that too.

I've really enjoyed Yellowstone and both it's spinoffs. Having said that. This stretch has been really meh to me. When it started out with John's death i thought here we go. Gonna be some serious payback action. Been closer to This is Us over whats been a modern day cowboy gangster show. For the record I enjoyed This Is Us, but it has its own genre. This is supposed to be about Rip kicking everyones butt not sad stuff. Luv u Rip. Hopefully it picks up. Its building. Its building. Now blowup please.

I felt since the opening episode that selling it to the Tribe was the way to have their cake and eat it too.
Could have accomplished that in one hour. These episodes just seem hollow. Like filler.

Although Part 2 has had many Filler episodes. the Finale paid off, I loved almost every part..
The sell off of Yellowstone, the end of the Beth vs. Jamie :boxing: and the Burial scene was very well done.

So many rumors of possible spin-offs. Guarantee there will be at least one, which one that will be is up in the air.
We've watched every episode from the beginning at least twice..
Good chance sometime next year, when Paramount does their marathon week, we will watch it from he beginning again.

Despite them listing it as the season finale, Kelly Reilly posted that it was the series finale and that they will be starting production soon on a spin-off featuring Beth and Rip.

I wouldn't go that far.. Maybe a more violent, and IMO, a better version of Dallas
I just know my wife and I enjoyed it from start to finish.

I thought the finale wrapped things up quite well after a pretty inconsistent season. That said, I’m not sure the tax solve works the way they portrayed, but who the hell wants to bog the plot down with a big tax debate.

If the way they avoided the taxes is legit, not sure they needed to sell all the livestock and give everyone their walking papers. I'm sure they could have made an arrangement that let them stay on the land doing what they were doing.

The giving 5,000 acres back to Kayce and his family at no cost would definitely be on the IRS radar if we wanted to get technical but I thought it made for a decent storyline.

It’s actually the larger transaction that is problematic. The IRS calculates estate tax based on the fair market value of the estate, not on the non-FMV sales price of estate assets. Moreover, selling the ranch for 1/100th of what it’s worth would expose the estate to massive gift tax liability. But in terms of all the things we are asked to suspend belief in with respect to our consumption of entertainment, the nuances of tax law have to be among the easiest to disregard.

So it’s fair market value, unless a property is transacted before the estate tax return is filed in which case that value is used I believe? Receiving the piece of the property back after that at no cost would be a little sneaky and would be an issue.

Season was meh. Finale was decent. Didn't feel too rushed. Ended most things. I about kicked my dog when those damn kids were kicking the tombstones over. A decent end to a great series. I know I know the last few seasons tailed off. Got really blogged down. Its not for everyone. Its a modern day western with gangster violence. I get the Yellowstome hate talking points people spout out, but it overall hit nicely for me. On to rewatch 1923 in prep of season 2.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe donation to the reservation would avoid it but once they accepted payment triggers the issues you mentioned. Those are some crazy values, wish I had that issue to work through. 😂

So AI generated all that info? Crazy times man.

Unless the reservation is a 501(c)(3), giving the ranch away in that manner would likely trigger massive gift tax issues.

As for ChatGPT, that was just what someone posted so I certainly can’t vouch for its accuracy. Not sure what prompt they used to get the answer. Still pretty interesting though. Thanks for the back and forth.

Back to the last couple episodes. Was I the only one who felt like Taylor was just playing himself during the strip poker scene? Or at least playing the persona he would love to be? What a weird thing to write in for yourself in the final episodes. Yeah, Taylor, you lift. We get it.

Taylor's scenes in the penultimate episode were a big ego trip. He should have been taken to the "train station" for that. I thought it was a bunch of wasted time. Oh well, nobody can ever accuse him of not loving himself.

I liked the finale. I thought they were able to tie up everything in the time allowed, and I liked how most of the stories played out.

Thought it ended ok.

The last 10 minutes or so covered what seemed like weeks.
Beth was beat to crap and 2 minutes later, in the next scene, all healed up.

The Attorney General was killed, vehicle was recovered, but no investigation? No tracing the tire tracks?
Just nada?

I thought Beth told the cops she blacked out and when she came to, Jamie was already gone. At that point, no one knew the Attorney General was killed. His burned-out vehicle would be recovered eventually, but how would they trace the tire tracks after miles of driving? And they still wouldn't know he was dead (if they continue to believe Beth's story). There would likely be an investigation, but they would be searching for Jamie on the run after beating up his sister and being complicit in his father's murder. I do agree that Beth went from needing intensive care to not a care in the world in about 8 minutes. They must have platinum healthcare and the best docs in Montana.

Have you never watched My Cousin Vinny? :shades:

I thought it was pretty lame how they made everyone just totally believe Beth's story. Jamie's house is beat to heck, with Beth and Jamie's blood all over the place, and Jamie is missing. she tells them he beat her up and left, and they're like "okay, case closed!" LOL. he lives in a corner house, and he parked on the street. nobody noticed 2 cowboys loading up a rolled up carpet in the back of his car? nobody noticed Rip's big black 6 wheel truck and thought "hey, that's odd..."

They cleaned up 95% of the blood so with her injuries it matched. They have no reason to think anything else happened. They have no idea of the hatred between the two.
They also already had suspicions that Jamie had something to do with the woman that is dead and took the fall for the Governor's death.

Seems they would put out a BOLO for Jamie, but that would be about it.

Also if you want to talk about the recovery of Beth.. How about Jamie getting hit in the head, full force, 3 times and still able to walk, talk and almost kill Beth
