... and Cassell at QB for two games and Brady one game back from missing the year to injury for the last had nothing to do with it?***IF*** you have another solid option, it's not the worst idea in the world. Revis has owned Moss for what.... three straight games?
Yeah, good point. I wouldn't have the guts to sit him... just sayin'.... and Cassell at QB for two games and Brady one game back from missing the year to injury for the last had nothing to do with it?***IF*** you have another solid option, it's not the worst idea in the world. It's a decent call. Revis is studly. Not only that but they gave Revis safety help on Moss last game. If you have another solid option, it might not be (and probably isn't) worth taking the risk with Moss. Moss has had some duds this year, including one against Revis. What other dedicated fantasy FB programs are on TV before the start of Sunday's games? I'm willing to switch, just don't know where to find this other option.Hoss_Cartwright said:People still watch ESPN? There's a bigger game in town than those bunch of hacks.
Why does this make him a tool? I think you are more of a tool for posting this personally. You give no rationale what. So. Ever. Period. Plus, you don't. Know how. To structure a. Sentence.dbc925 said:Today's recommendation? Bench Randy Moss.I don't care if Moss goes without a catch today and Roto can come back and say, "See, I told you so". You don't bench Moss. Ever. Period. Using TV for fantasy advice is a mistake. I watch NFL Network for player news and insight, and I can't bring myself to watch ESPN anymore. The Shark Pool is a better source of fantasy advice than some hack or former player on ESPN.What other dedicated fantasy FB programs are on TV before the start of Sunday's games? Your Mom said:I have been watching this show for most of the year. I have been paying attention to Matthew Berry. He is actually pretty good. Of course he has been wrong on somethings, but he does know what he is doing.I don't like a lot of what ESPN does, but this show isn't crap.
And I doubt anyone here is watching for advice anyway. But they do a million times better at compacting news on gameday a.m. than either Countdown or NFL Gameday without the fluff.Plus, they feature Molly Qerim.Tell us how you really feel.He might very well be right about Moss since Revis has owned him, but that still doesn't change the fact that ESPN is crap.

Yeah except the scenario you are talking about is probably less than 1 percent of overall owners making the blanket statement very fitting imho.I've never understood any start / sit blanket statements based only on the named player. It always depends on the alternatives. If I can start 2 and own Moss, Fitz, and Andre Johnson, then OK. If I own Moss, Fitz, and Mike Furrey, it's a whole different answer.
He didnt say sit him, he said he ranked Moss at 19 among WRs this week.I've never understood any start / sit blanket statements based only on the named player. It always depends on the alternatives. agreed. And its chock full of data, inj updates etc. 100x better than "sunday countdown"Your Mom said:I have been watching this show for most of the year. someone did this here last game vs Reavis. Tunred out to be a nice move.you NEVER says NEVER.dbc925 said:Today's recommendation? Do tell.I went to college with Berry. His status as an all-time tool was cemented around 1994.

Yeah, I never understood the hate for ESPN or Berry. ESPN built an empire because they were the first to believe that a network completely devoted to sports would thrive. As sports fans, I don't know why we don't all appreciate and respect what they've done. (And still do, really. Other than the league-owned channels, it's still the only network completely devoted to sports).I agree about Berry. He is an entertainer and he's not a bad fantasy analyst at that. I'm sure there is a source that compares the accuracy of different fantasy analysts, but I've never seen it and I've certainly never seen anyone cite such a source when calling Berry an idiot. Like every fantasy prognosticator, he has some good ideas, along with some really bad calls. It happens to everyone and it's up to owners make the final decisions. Berry can be a good source, though.Funny, too, that some pretend that "fantasy football" isn't about entertainment. For a ton (the vast majority, I'd guess), the money involved is either zero or inconsequential. If fantasy football is a high dollar hobby for someone, taking advice from Berry obviously isn't a good idea. Taking too much advice from anyone is silly, as it's not their money. A high-rolling fantasy player relying on Berry would make about as much sense as a high-rolling gambler relying on Jimmy the Greek's picks in the late '80s.Come on, you guys sound like a bunch of haters. Matthew Berry is a comedy writer. That's what he does. He's also a decent fantasy football analyst. The combination of those abilities adds a unique perspective to ESPN, which originally stood for ENTERTAINMENT and Sports Programming Network. Berry provides entertainment, plain and simple. -- with occasional tidbits of fantasy insight, including his recommendation to grab Miles Austin the week before Austin exploded from out of nowhere.
Actually I'm benching him today for Desean Jackson vs Chicago. Seems like the safer play considering how terrible chicago D is and I doubt Tillman can keep him contained. It's not like I doubt Moss, he can still put up 100 yards and 1 TD but I think it is highly unlikely for him to get 150+ yards and multiple tds against revis. May look stupid to a lot of people, but I think it's a reasonable call...dbc925 said:Today's recommendation? I think it's assumed you wouldn't be dumb enough to not know that. Every start/sit recommendation comes with the assumption that you have an alternative of similar talent/opportunity.I've never understood any start / sit blanket statements based only on the named player. It always depends on the alternatives. If I can start 2 and own Moss, Fitz, and Andre Johnson, then OK. If I own Moss, Fitz, and Mike Furrey, it's a whole different answer.
He's probably doing it so people talk about him(like this).
There's no difference between negative pub and positive pub with internet marketing. Both generate traffic and ad revenue. Eliciting a response in the reader is what really matters. You don't honestly think ESPN employs Matt Berry to help you win at Fantasy Football do you? The bigger the media entity the more it becomes entertainment value. You'd do well to think of sites like ESPN and Yahoo as infomercials. The content is a means of bringing you back and filtering you to the revenue generating areas of the site. And ya can't really blame them. It works! I mean, you think his advice is absurd, yet there you sit reading him and here you are talking to a lot of people about him.23rd WR? Sounds like he should be on a starting roster rather than a benchWith two games left to play Moss is 23rd on the WR scoring list.Any Berry haters feel just a little stupid right now?

That's nothing. Jim Cantore recommended I release Brady Quinn and pick up Derek Anderson. Stupid Weather Channel.Speaking of worthless ESPN input...The weather lady just called Buf @ Jax 'a complete washout', and Boomer chimed in 'O yeah, rain everywhere in the Sunshine state today'Except my uncle just told me on the phone its barely a mist.Except the local t.v. gametime forecast has gone from 90% to 70% to 60% in the last 15 hours.Except the radar shows two distinct heavy bands; the storm north of Jax is moving NE, and the one to the south looks likely to miss Duval county as well - and there is nothing behind either one.Great quality info, folks.
I do. If that had happened he'd be giving better advice than "take the zero and start Moss." I don't understand this "can't bench a player" thing. Do you run your own team or not? If you want to be on auto-pilot, that's cool. But if benching Moss earned someone a win, and they make the playoffs by one game, and they win the league...I think your strategy (which is basically not to have a strategy) would be exposed. Not picking on you, but I see a lot of people say you "can't" bench someone. You can do whatever you want. The times you would bench Moss would be pretty few, but if it look bad to you, I think you have to give your team the best chance to win-- not field the lineup with the most popular names.dbc925 said:Today's recommendation? You're right, do what you want. For me, I'm just not great at predicting individual games. I do well finding talent, but I don't want to rely on my skills to predict a particular matchup. So I play my studs. If you're better at predicting individual games, have at it.I do. If that had happened he'd be giving better advice than "take the zero and start Moss." If someone benched Moss for Sidney Rice after looking at match-ups, etc...why would that have been a bad decision?
Burn...I went to college with Berry. His status as an all-time tool was cemented around 1994.
A typical league starts 3 WRs. If you told me all three of my WRs would finish in the top 23 I'd be plenty happy. With two games left to play Moss is 23rd on the WR scoring list.Any Berry haters feel just a little stupid right now?
