Your favorite Podcast (1 Viewer)

Pardon My Take is great, though PFTCommenter is exponentially funnier than the other guy. Though as much as the two Steam Room episodes were gold, it does help to have somebody else for him to play off of.

I really like just about every one I've heard so far but I haven't heard nearly all of them.

The Blueprint for Armageddon (WWI) series is probably my favorite...if you have the time for it. I think it's 5 or 6 episodes long, about 3 hours each. The most recent King of Kings has been pretty interesting but he really could have cut out a lot of fluff in the 2nd episode.

The Punic Nightmares and Ghosts of the Osfront (German invasion of Russia) series were pretty good as well.
In addition to all the ones already mentioned, the "Death Throes of the Republic" series about the fall of the Roman Republic was also enjoyable.

William Friedkin on WTF is a gem of a listen.
Finished this in 2 sessions.  Listened to a Bill Simmons podcast before the second part.

When he mentions suiting up with and practicing with Bird, McHale, and Parish and Maron is like "Uh huh, and what about Cruisin?", I just imagined him being on Simmons instead.  I assume Bill would have immediately ejaculated and passed out, then a couple seconds of silence, then an abrupt re-joining of the conversation.

Was funny.  Friedkin like yeah I used to run with them.

He has a eccleptic group of friends.

Gene Hackman stuff was great.

Might give that a whirl. GoT is starting to wear on me and I might need a break...or it might be ADD. I'm not exactly sure. Really, nothing has held my attention long term since "We're Alive". One good one that's been mentioned elsewhere is "Coverville" .

Also useful is the "Sleep With Me" podcast, which is a guy with the most boring voice in the universe telling dumb meaningless stories that go nowhere in a near whisper. Guaranteed to knock one out in mere minutes at night.
Really great post. I have been using this podcast to fall asleep for many nights now. Each podcast is 60 minutes, and I would find it hard to believe that anyone can listen to the entire hour without falling asleep. He does have the most boring voice! And he really doesn't talk about anything.

If you're having trouble falling asleep, you must give this a shot.

Similar idea: Joe Pera Talks You to Sleep. It is exactly just the right amount of boring to effectively put you to sleep -- not so boring that you get antsy, but not so interesting that it keeps you awake.

Is female counterparts a new trend in sports' podcasts?

Listening to both the Mays and Barnwell podcasts lately have been annoying.

I know a midget male sportswriter does not have any more credibility then a female but got to admit it makes me tune out.

Perhaps these woman just need more exposure.  Jackie MacMullan IMO is terrific and I don't see gender with her.

Kilborn on Simmons was interesting.

I like Kilborn a lot.  But geez seemed like he was on something.  All over the place.

Lebron and Wade compared to Kobe perfectly fine.  But to say those two can shoot from the perimeter like Kobe is insane.

Celtics and Showtime the best teams ever?  Fair enough.  Before expansion.  Then Kilborn goes on to minimize Jordan's reign due to expansion in the late 80's early 90's.  It's very convenient.

Shutdown Fullcast and The Solid Verbal are great college football / fun podcasts. They are my two must listens every week.

I like Mallory Rubin but her laugh is annoying. It's breathy.

I liked Wormwood after I got in a few episodes.  Others in a similar genre but haven't tried yet:

Leviathan Chronicles

Fetidus

19 Nocturne Boulevard

The Cleansed

Mask of Inanna

Age of Zombies

ETA: and I liked Cresent

Is it as lopsided as I would expect?  The Ringer 1600 podcast is pretty bad on that front.
Agreed here.  Love Meet The Press and every liberal rag and channel out there.  I wish these guys had some passionate Trump guys to interview though.  Not because I like Trump, but I enjoy hearing the other viewpoint - if for nothing more than to verify that I'm correct in how I feel.

I don't get this. The discussions never revolve around who is right or who is a quality candidate.

They seemed to bag a bit too much on the right or spoke about them a bit more condescendingly.  And other than 1 of their guests, all of the previous guests have seemed to be Hillary or Bernie people.  I'm Hillary people, I like it but I like to hear both sides in a balanced manner.  This is just my perception.  I'm not a guy crying about liberal media bias, I watch CNN and like it a lot.  Just my take

Sorry, my bad. I thought you were talking about the FiveThirty cast.

Listened to this years ago and really liked it a lot. Listened to one or two others by Rossi too, but none were as good. I think I might give Leviathon Chronicles a whirl. Pretty sure I've heard good things about this before.

I tried Leviathon Chronicles and it didn't stick - I probably got through about 3 episodes and gave it up.

I was looking into it to see if it was well reviewed or not (seems like it has) and it turns out that it's been on hiatus for some time. The writer had some personal issues with he Big C (#### Cancer), I'm going to give it a try in tomorrow's commute and report back after a few episodes. Was the problem a slow story? Not edgy? Poor production?

Funny that Mr. Tony's announcement that he's moving to straight podcast has made news. I reckon most of us littles are podcasters anyway.

Also - I thought this was funny - Jinglefest

Now that I've torn through the entire How Did This Get Made podcast catalog, I am not consuming The Nerdist.
I burned through a lot of the Nerdist catalogue a few years ago. I enjoyed the interviews but the hosts started to grate on me. I haven't listened in close to a year and have no desire to check back.

Anybody listen to the Malcolm Gladwell podcast that just started, or the other one from the people behind Radiolab?
Yeah, I listened to the first episode.  I'll stick with it for now, but it didn't knock my socks off.

I hated the Freakonomics podcast - overproduction annoys me on podcasts.

After all these years, I find myself listening to fewer and fewer FBG podcasts.  One of the guys has finally gotten on my nerves (no need to name him).  If I could subscribe separately to the IDP podcasts, I would do that.

Is it the accent of the one guy?  Or the feined enthusiasm of the other guy? :)

We're Alive has a sequel.

2 Dope Queens is good.  Kind of like the funnier and less annoying version of Guys We F***ed.

Adam Ruins Everything and Science Vs. are good.  Both are debunking shows that challenge something we think is true.

I'm enjoying The Adventure Zone - funny guys playing D&D poorly.

Two good ones I've discovered recently that I haven't seen mentioned here:

1.  The Dollop w Dave Anthony and Gareth Reynolds- one comedian researches a strange-but-true historical tale and tells it to another comedian, who doesn't know what's coming  Some examples: Hetty Green, the Witch of Wall Street and Fed Ex Flight 705. If you liked that thread we had going here about crazy Wikipedia entries, this one's for you.

2.  The Great Debates: Two comedians (often joined by guests) debate yes/no or pro/con of various things. Some recent examples:  "William Shakespeare saw a black woman naked," "The weatherman has the easiest job on a news team," "it would help Hillary Clinton if her email contained a draft of erotic Big Bang Theory fan fiction."  This would also be a good idea for a FFA thread, now that I think about it.

Mr. Tony is back today! Finally. Missed it.

Also apparently Chris Cillizza is starting his own podcast.

Hey Little!

Can't wait to hear the Mr. Tony show today (teaser says 11am EDT). Until he started mentioning doing the podcast, I never knew they didn't do it live. Didn't realize they did it early to allow for media regulation.

I think I will miss the PTI bit (Not doing it because Podcast has no connection to ESPN) Matt Kelliher was good.

Wonder if Michael K. will be on the show or just in the background. Hopefully this format will allow for more songs/emails at the end of the show, since they aren't against a hard time for finish.

The Dollop. Just started listening based on a recomendation in this thread. Funny podcast. A couple episodes Have been absolute gold. The Rube and Competitive Tickling being my two favorites so far.
