The ads at the beginning and the end are okay if it's done quickly like Rogan's podcast.  Rogan will get to his ads beginning and end but doesn't spend another 10-15 minutes running through the dates/times of his stand up shows.  That's what's driving me up the wall with some of these comedian podcasts.

I wouldn't mind if they just read off their dates for 30 seconds..... but I feel like doing so makes them feel self conscious as a comedian because they know it's not entertaining(and if someone was interested the dates could easily be folded into the metadata of the podcast or just found online). The result is they try to be "super casual" about it and get the dates wrong, read dates for sold out shows and then have to point that out for no apparent reason, or some other shtick. That does get rough.

If you DO care, just be prepared and read the dates that you are still trying to fill. If you truly DON'T care... then just don't do it. I do realize that podcasts drive an audience to their shows and I don't begrudge them that. Bert Kreisher, Tom Segura, and Ari Shaffir swear by their podcasts driving traffic to their shows.

 
Really enjoyed Cocaine and Rhinestones. Tyler Mahan Coe does an in depth story on part of country music before 2000.

Even if you are not a fan you may find this interesting. I am a fringe fan, grew up in a country music household. I found this

very informative with a lot of behind the scenes info that I had no idea about. I binge listened over a couple weeks to season one

and I am looking forward to season 2.

 
Last night I poked around for new podcasts, and wow - Caliphate is an incredible listen.  I ended up binging the first 8 episodes of this one.  It just started this April.

In the Dark S1 is damn good but as a parent was a hard listen.  I was bawling listen to this one.    S2 has been pretty good so far too, but not nearly as hard to listen to.

Up and Vanished was also very good.  They have a lot of supplemental episodes that aren't mandatory to listen to - Q&As, case files, etc.. 

Someone Knows Something has had some decent season.  If I remember correctly, I think S2 was good.  

My Favorite Murder is another decent one that talks about different crimes/murders, but it's not a season long development like Serial is.  

I also didn't like S2 of Serial and I thought S-Town was pretty underwhelming overall.

I started listening to In the Dark on a trip this weekend.  Only half way through, but great recommendation!

Excellent listen, fascinating storyline. Just listened to all of them, thanks for the recommendation :thumbup:

Just read the narrative on the last podcast, "The last episode of 'Caliphate' will publish on Thursday, June 21st." <_<

I really enjoyed the new Waking Up with the guy talking about  Universal Basic Income.  I guess he has plans to run for president too.

Empire on Blood is really good.  Currently listening to both Atlanta Monster and The Wonderland Murders which are also both good.  

 
Disgraceland has quickly become a favorite of mine . The latest episode is a 2 parter on John Lennon 

Disgraceland is a true crime podcast about musicians getting away with murder and behaving very badly. Thirty minute episodes that trace the most insane criminal stories surrounding our most interesting and infamous pop stars.

I don't listen to many podcasts however the ones I do I like. 

Mostly sports related is the Eagles podcast Bleeding Green 

I also have become fond of the Joe Rogan Podcast

I listen to a few wrestling podcasts mostly for the wrestlers interviewed and one podcast is by a guy who wrestled a few people now in WWE or famous in the Indies. 

Joe Cronin Show is the one wrestling podcast I really love as they do live reviews after shows with fan call ins and interactions. He also has 3 other podcasts one of Gaminy, one for just news and a 3rd that's more space related.

I also like Bruce Prichard Podcast with Conrad Thompson. Those two work well together and I really enjoyed the one they did of Macho Man. 

The Chris Jericho podcast is also great. Not only is it a wrestling podcast but also a music one as Jericho has a metal band named Fozzy who are pretty good and just played Download Festival in the UK not long ago. He interviewed Bruce Dickinson awhile back which was awesome

With the podcasts I do listen too I rarely have any time for any other ones. However I'd like to get a music podcast for mostly heavy metal and stuff.

I don't listen to them all the time I catch Jericho every so often the Cronin one is the most I listen to and with patron it's about 35 hrs of stuff a week I don't get through. I catch Rogan from time to time. Also I think you could call a few sports shows more podcast with the way they do it like The Herd and things like that.

Don’t listen to podcast unless we are on a road trip and then we typically listen to a true crime something or another....BUT

My wife just found a podcast of some foreign lady (maybe French) that is a therapist and she received permission to record her counseling session with the clients. Names and other incriminating bits are edited out to protect the clients identity. We have listened to 1 and a half episodes and I find it very intriguing! Hearing people’s real life struggles, etc has us hooked. 

I will find out the name and repot back for any that are interested.

Anyone with a good podcast that discusses TV shows to watch this week?  Looking for something to cover networks plus Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc.

Or a good site or blog would do.

This is a really good one; Ester Perel is the host.  I do believe she is French but spent significant time in Israel and other countries - speaks maybe 7 languages I think.  One thing that strikes me listening to couples with different situations/backgrounds from me is that relationship troubles really are universal it would seem.

 
Listened to some really interesting episodes of my normal podcasts that really gave me something to think about:

Waking Up  - #134 with Coleman Hughes

Joe Rogan - #1147 with Dr. Debra Soh

since he was mentioned and I hadn't listened to it, I also listened to Joe Rogan #993 with Ben Shapiro.  

Debra Soh also has a new podcast that I think is a really good idea in principle titled Wrongspeak there were only 3 episodes (but still interesting), but I thought she said something on the Rogan podcast about Season 2.  

 
My mom recommended the Jordan Peterson podcast.  He's a Canadian... philosopher?  Psychologist? I'm a few episodes in and each has been interesting.  They're not really entertaining, so I don't choose them over some funnier podcasts, but when I end up on them, they make me think.

He's a self-absorbed lunatic.  It's like listening to a college professor and thinking he has the answer to life.

After that thread, I listened to most of a podcast he did with Rogan. It's great that he's helping some people who aren't doing that well to kind of get their life together, but some of his other arguments (e.g. railing against "equality of outcome") are complete straw-men. He couldn't really give specific examples of who was saying this should be a thing.

 
I have been getting into the Joe Rogan podcast specifically the ones with Randall Carlson, Graham Hancock, Robert Schoch and Dan Flores. Lots of good history of the world stuff. Cataclysmic events that shaped the world. The true age of the Sphinx and pyramids. The likelihood that there were massive floods that changed the landscape forever. Gobleki tepe. Atlantis. Fascinating topics. The latter was about coyote in America and the history of the ecology of the U.S. Really humbling to realize how little time we've been around and how truly vulnerable we are as a species.

Yes, though they then did a subsequent episode where they were much better.

i think that Harris has improved over time in terms of not getting too hung up on technical details that are ultimately not that important and that podcast may have been a big turning point.

 
Its probably been mentioned before but for me, 'Pardon My Take' is by far my favorite podcast. Been listening since it started in like early 2016.

i heard them when they were guests on Sam Harris and liked them, but never really checked out their podcast.  I recently was looking for new stuff and listened to the 2 recent eps on a few Borges' stories and loved them.  Ep 135 about morality and utilitarianism was also excellent.  Definitely digging it now.

 
Conan O'Brien noted on his broadcast the other nite that he was ending the hour-long format and would be returning in January with a half-hour show. He also mentioned that he would be doing a podcast. Might listen to a couple to see if it is as funny as his show, or is just him interviewing people.

 
Jeselnik and Rosenthal Vanity Project (JRVP junior vice president) is back after a couple of years.  I like listening to Jeselnik harassing Gregg when they're obviously such good friends off the air.

Bootleg with Mina Kimes - I really enjoy Mina as a guest on other podcasts, but I'm not sure about her as a host.  It's a little weak through two episodes, but I'll give it a whole NFL season to find its feet because of how smart and funny Mina is.

Netflix Original Reviews is interesting - I've wondered if something like this would exist at some point.  Since people watch streaming shows at different times, you can't really have a conversation about any of them because someone knows more of what happens than the other person.  Similarly, you can't really use a Wiki on a show to cross reference something because you'll run into spoilers.  This appears to be a podcast where two guys discuss each Netflix original series one episode at a time as they watch them... so they don't know any spoilers and just mention interesting things they noticed, what they think of the show so far, and what they think might happen.  I plan to watch a few series, listening to the accompanying podcast as I go, to see how this works, but I'm happy to see this exists.

JUST started listening to this.  A bit too much with the laughing on their end, but it's really funny stuff most of the time.  First two I listened to were the ones on Purity Balls and the Vampire Panic.  Needless to say, I was hooked after those.

The Dollop is an acquired taste, but it gets better and better as you learn to like the hosts. 

 
Been listening to Stuff they don't want you to know . I enjoy it because they take a fairly even look at strange events

Though I could not stomach The Kurim Case. That was just gruesome
