Your last chance to buy DeAngello Williams and Jonathan Stewart is now (1 Viewer)

This is a bugger of a year this year...i want to just drop stewart in my 10 team league but i just can't. I'm keeping guys like donald brown, blount, mike tolbert (for crying out loud) over stewart...

I have an offer of Stewart for Santonio Holmes and I don't really need Santonio and I desperately need a decent RB, but I think I am going to turn this down. He averaged 2.1 ypc on 14 carries. I think Stewart simply doesn't have it anymore.
His make or break game will be next week against the Rams. St. Louis had all sorts of problems with Blount who is a power runner, much like Stewart. I think next week will be another game where Stewart gets close to 15 carries. If he struggles again that'll be it for him.
Turner, another power back, just brutalized the Bengals for over 100 and 2 TDs. Stewart averaged 1.6 ypc against them (this was Clausen's NFL debut). Is there really any reason for optimism? He did manage 3.8 against the Bears, which is decent, and has Tampa coming up in 3 weeks after getting St Louis and New Orleans.Even though I desperately need a decent RB option I just can't see him becoming one this year. The Panthers just had their best game of the year, coming as a result of passing a ton and basically ignoring the run game, which was pitifully ineffective anyway (76 yards on 34 carries). I just can't see Stewart doing anything unless he passes DWill on the depth chart or DWill gets seriously hurt. They've both been ineffective all year so there's no reason to bench one for the other.

Wow what a thoughtful analysis. What's your theory as to why he's averaging 3.0 ypc as a backup? (starter averaging 4.1 ypc with same QB/Line/Team/Coach)
I think it was an appropriately thoughtful response to something like "he doesn't have it anymore", when talking about a 23 year old RB's first game of the season with double-digit carries. My point is just - chill. This was his first game with any serious action, and it was against a team that's only giving up about 3.5ypc (T-6th). Let's give him a couple games before we stick a fork in him.

It would be completely amazing if Stewart was a bust. I mean...he's held in such high regard in the fantasy community and people blew their depth and banks on him in dynasty leagues. I would be laughing quite loudly.
Well. let's just go down the bust check list, shall we?Comes from a high-profile PAC-10 school? CheckConstantly nicked up with minor injuries? CheckPlays on a bad team with no real identity? CheckPlays behind another talented back? CheckExperiencing a serious decline in ypc? Checkhis progress from year 1-2 was really good though. Maybe he does make a decent buy-low right now. Maybe I can coax the Stewart owner to add a throw-in upgrade elsewhere on that trade.

It's just really hard to believe in a guy that is averaging 3.0 ypc as a backup. I think if I should be buying anyone low it should be DWill, which I might try right now.

Not really. Just pointing out that one day ago the Bucs were gashed pretty badly by a power RB, one who in my opinion, isn't as talented as Stewart. I'm not saying anyone should start Stewart with confidence even if Williams sits but on paper this is a matchup that could work in his favor. Having said that, I realize that playing the matchups this season is pretty much a foolhardy endeavor considering how nothing is going according to form.
