Does your league draft on the same day/time each year or do you figure out what works best for everyone from year to year?

the past few years we have had a live draft the Sunday before Labor Day- will do so again this year.

This is the last weekend before the season starts, and we want to wait as long as possible to hold our draft.

In my main redraft it is on Labor Day every year. In person at the commish's house. The time varies because sometimes someone has to work, but the day is always the same.

After more than a decade of wrestling with scheduling the auction date to accommodate everyone, we decided a couple of years ago to set the date of next year's auction while we're at this year's auction. That gives everybody a whole year to tell all their friends and family "Don't get married this particular day" or "No, we can't go the freakin' zoo, daddy's got his thing to do."

It used to drive me nuts.

Nice little poem there sparky! Most people plan weddings more than 1 year in advance though - just saying.

We usually have ours two weeks before the season starts. That may vary depending upon who's getting married/knocking their wife up.

I usually pick a couple of dates dates at the end of Aug and everyone votes on which one works the best for them and we go with the majority, hasn't been a problem.

Pretty much it for us. Have to have some flex because inevitably someone is going on vacation etc on the day initially picked. Almost always last or 2d last weekend of Aug though, usually on Sat.

I believe ours is usually the sunday of the third week of preseason games. Email goes out in may, anyone who protests can get the date moved if half the league agrees, otherwise, he's on auto-draft by computer.

I'm the commissioner of a 12 team league and we do the draft in my backyard in late to mid August. We tried doing it during the labor day weekend, but too many people are busy or away that weekend.

We usually do it the last or second to last weekend in August.

7pm the Tuesday before the season starts. (Day after labor day) Been that way for years... so the league can pretty much always know when the next draft is going to be.

We use the Thursday night before Labor Day, and use it each year. Keeps excuses for missing at a minimum.

We shoot for the weekend before the start of the NFL season. It is a live draft, but I am the only one that lives out of state. I try to get up when I can. Since it usually falls over the Labor day weekend, it makes it possible to go up once every few years.

I used to participate in a few leagues that were strictly online. I used to setup the draft the Thursday night before the official start of the NFL season. We did it later in the night, and that always seemed to work for everyone. Seened to cover for anyone going away for a long Labor Day Weekend.
