I would also take a look at Josh Freeman if available. I like him as much as Stafford long term.

I don't see Freeman in the class of the other 8

It's nigh impossible to rank them right now because they've hardly played. I'll just offer my thoughts on each:

Sanchez - Looks like a legit NFL QB to me despite rocky patches last year. Turned the corner in the playoffs and could become a Tom Brady/Aaron Rodgers type of player if he can keep improving. I actually think he's underrated, which is surprising considering that he's a very high profile player.

Luck - Has the look of a special prospect. Should have a strong season this year and will most likely be a top 5 pick in one of the upcoming drafts (2011 is my guess). Needs to justify the hype with solid play on the field though. He was very good last year in his first season as a starter, but he had some bad games (pretty much cost Stanford a win against Cal with a terrible outing). I like him more than most of the guys on your list even though he's a much bigger risk at this juncture.

Stafford - Has the pedigree you look for and I actually like what the Lions are doing on offense. I think he and Detroit will take steps towards respectability this year. Still, I never thought he was a truly dominant player in college despite his reputation/skills and his rookie year wasn't special enough to make me think he's a lock. I still think he has a pretty good chance of becoming a successful FF QB in the mold of Palmer/Cutler.

Henne - Similar to Stafford, but with less hype and a lower price tag in many leagues. Had some nice games last season and should push for top 10 status this year. My favorite redraft QB2 because I really think he offers a comparable package to Kolb/Stafford at a reduced cost. Should benefit from the presence of Marshall. Like all of these guys, will need to cut down on his mistakes and improve his consistency.

Kolb - Getting a ton of hype for a guy who has basically done nothing in the NFL. While I like the system and supporting cast that he's working with, I just can't justify ranking him as anything more than a dynasty QB2 until I see some results on the field. I believe he's a bit overvalued right now, although he definitely offers a significant upside. If he's the real deal, he could be a top 10 guy immediately.

Bradford - I really like what he did in college. Accuracy/decision making are two of the most important traits of a successful pro QB and those are two of Bradford's strengths. It's going to take some time, but if the Rams can surround him with a decent team then I like his chances of developing into a quality starter in FF leagues. If not for the injuries he suffered last season, we might be talking about him as one of the best QB prospects of the past decade.

Locker - Off the charts physical specimen who needs a lot of polish. He will be a very high pick because of his upside, but he's also a considerable bust risk because up to this point he really hasn't put up the staggering stats that you want to see from a top shelf college QB (in fairness, he has suffered from injuries/coaching). I expect him to the be the first QB drafted in 2010.

Freeman - He certainly looks the part, but I've always been more skeptical of him than Stafford/Sanchez and he will need to show me some improvement before I consider him anything more than another Daunte Culpepper (the crappy version, not the guy who lit it up with Randy Moss). To his credit, he played pretty well last season when you consider his age and lack of pro experience.

Mallett - Haven't watched him play yet, but the scouting reports make him sound like a physical specimen with sub par mental intangibles. I tend to shy away from these types because mental intangibles might be the most important aspect of a QB's game.

Basically, I think Stafford, Kolb, and Henne are the best options for 2010, but I think Luck, Sanchez, and Bradford have the best odds of becoming Pro Bowl caliber players in the long run. I would classify Freeman, Locker, and Mallett as boom-or-bust.

A couple of those Bradford lovers may be a little biased/hopeful. :goodposting:
I think that is the case for every player here. I think anyone not voting for Bradford or Stafford #1 is because they own the player they are voting for.I dont like comparing players to others, but its the quickest way to make a point. Stafford- Jay CutlerBradford - Drew BreesKolb - Matt SchaubHenne - Kerry CollinsSanches - Trent DilferFreeman - Jason CampbellHavent seen enough of the rookies to make a comparison, but i like Lockers upside the best, although he might be the least likely to make a smooth transition to the NFL.

watch Mallett this season - he will absoltuely WOW you
i watched him last year. think it was the bowl game. he wowed me by making me think he was the worst starting QB in a bowl game - and that included the kid from temple, who i think is now playing TE at temple.

I'm a huge Freeman guy after watching him last year and think he belongs on the list also but anyways here it goes and I don't own any of them but Henne in any leagues

Bradford

Kolb

Henne

Stafford

Locker

Sanchez

Luck

Mallet
