You're on a 12-hour plane trip... (1 Viewer)

1.  Something by Sanderson.  Long and high quality.

2.  Metric or something electronic to play while reading.

3.  Charlie Sheen.  I can't imagine a guy with better stories.  Even Ron pales in comparison.

I never got into Animal Collective, actually. That's probably a failing on my end and I haven't given them enough of a chance.

eta* And I know Panda is part of the collective. I just like Noah Lennox's stuff better.
They are both really good.  Animal Collective is better at delivering some hooks whereas Panda Bear just sprawls in a way I also find very intriguing and entertaining. Person Pitch is one of my favorite albums whereas My girls from Merriweather Post Pavilion is probably my favorite song of either band.  Hard to go wrong here GB

Yeah, I like My Girls. I'm currently listening to Merriweather Post Pavilion deciding whether or not to get it on vinyl. I just ordered a sealed copy of the Tomboy vinyl box set from eBay. Love Panda Bear.

Great, now I have drunkenly queued up Person Pitch.  Good thing my wife loves me.
She might actually like Comfy In Nautica. It's a beautiful song, IMO.

Comfy in Nautica is great.  It was a mainstay of my college radio DJ career.  And it is coming up soon....

This is always something I listen to when driving in and out of Florida

Italicized - very cool

Bolded: Tripping. Balls. Without hallucinogens. Holy cow.

I'm going to be on an 8.5 hour plane ride in a few weeks so I should probably start thinking about the book part.  Some interesting ideas in this thread.  If I had to choose 1 band it would be Tool.  I would love to not have anyone sitting next to me, but if I got to choose a celebrity it would be a hot female who is smart and funny, like Mila Kunis.

You choose one from each option to take with you:

1. A book to read

2. One artist's music to listen to

3. One celebrity/famous person to sit beside you for conversation.

What/who do you pick?
12 hours?   This is what I have actually done before when I was flying to China. I would take the book along with 2 valium.  Get about 2 chapters in and sleep the rest of the way.

Book: Doesn't Matter

Music: Doesn't Matter

Person: Dan Bilzerian–because if I'm next to him, it'll be on a private plane and there will be full of beautiful, 1/2 naked women all around us. So who needs a book or music. As a matter of fact, 12 hours? Can we turn right around and go back after we land?

This. So much this. If you haven't already, check the guy's IG. You can thank me later.

loved these as a kid
Yeah, same here, I was in high school so it's been over 30 years since I read those books.  I'll be honest, I don't recall much except that I enjoyed them a lot.  Same with the Hitchhiker's Guide series - I read those in HS as well.  I don't recall many specifics, I just recall really enjoying the books a lot. I need to just carve out some time to re-read those.

that sci-fi stuff reminds me ...anyone read "Illustrated Man" - Ray Bradbury lately?  I loved that book when I was around 10-11.

Sidebar: I've got one credit for any book on audible.com.  What should I get?

Drinking in the 80's put a damper on my reading achievements, so I'd like to pick something from that time and re-imagine my life.  Hitchhikers Guide?  Vonnegut?

1) for reading--I generally like to read magazines publications about the industry that I'm in (jewelry). Wristwatch annual, InStore magazine..etc

2).  Tool

3.) Maynard james Keenan, dave Gahan or michelle Obama

The problem is 99.9999% of celebrities wouldn't give me the time of day...but assuming they would, sit me next to Larry Bird and I don't need any books or music.
