Could be because of the distance of the third down. Watching the Ravens who play a hybrid 3-4/46 def, on short passing third downs they either stay in their base 3-4 using short zones or zone blitzes or they bring in a nickleback, take out a lineman and slide a lb (usually Suggs) on the D Line.Basically they play a 3-3-5 which gives them better run support in a draw situation, better speed to defend screens and better options with their zone blitz package.
