I was. My crew of tough guy dorks did not drink this stuff. We drank Jager, Hamms, Hudehpol Gold, Schnapps. Pretty much everything if I were to smell now my initial reaction is to vomit.

I really don't see why it can't be a hit. Mind you, I never liked it and certainly don't drink products in this market (Smirnoff Ice and all that flavored malt beverage crap). I'm a beer and whiskey neat only sort of guy. But I've tasted a few, and from what I remember about Zima, it was miles better than this crap sold today.  From what I remember, Zima didn't have as much cloying, disgusting sweetness that all these other products have today.

Maybe the lack of sweetness would hurt it for most of these consumers, but surely there are a lot of people out there that don't like beer that also don't necessarily want something overly sweet either.

Sort of, I haven't had one in 20 years but it was similar in the sense that they both suck, as I recall.

I'm old, we drank Mickey's 40s and Colt 45.  We used to drive to Pontiac, Michigan because the party store owner didn't give a crap how old you were as long as you had money.

IIRC it's better than some of the "hard soda" sold today - that root beer is just nasty. I made the mistake of buying a case when it was on sale, like $6 (so, figure 25 cents each bottle, why not?) Took me about 6 months to finish it because every time I'd have one I detested it, but I can't waste alcohol and my wife wouldn't drink it.  It's not the kind of stuff you give a buddy when they come over and we weren't hosting HS parties.  

I do however kind of like Crabbie's lemonade.  It's a bit sweet but it's lemonade. Very similar to Mike's. (Note - i only bought the case because it was $14 while beer I like is about double. What can I say, I'm on a strict budget right now)
