Scenario:

You work at a gov't lab, and you are present when lab protocol breaks down and a zombie virus spreads to some lab personnel. You assume that the virus will spread to the general population soon, and you estimate you have about 2 weeks to get all your stuff in order and make a move. You also estimate you probably have a month, at most 2 months, before all systems break down and the world ends up in total anarchy.

You have a little time to make a plan, you can take anything you want, go anywhere you want and no one knows yet what's about to come. What do you do?

Islands. Everyone will swarm to your island when the SHTF.

1. Cash out my investments.

2. Find a cabin rental in the sticks somewhere - wood fireplace required. Looking for a location that's more defensible, maybe on a mountainside or hilly area. Rent the place for whatever it costs - even if I have to pay them extra to bump someone else.

3. Trade in our two cars for a truck. Probably the hillbilly "dualie" type so I can tow as much as I want. Rent a U-haul trailer, and also rent a driveable moving truck.

4. Fill the U-haul and moving truck with stuff. Food, guns & ammo, cookware, clothes, etc.

5. Drive out to the rental and prepare it for defense. Cut down trees for firewood, and start growing a beard.

option 2 is to head to some areas in central or eastern Oregon near lakes/rivers with cabins or rentals that are isolated. You might have to kill a few people, but hopefully not, hopefully you can just bust into a vacant place and then set up shop. You want a place that doesn't have neighbors nearby or in view, the more isolated the better. I know at least one perfect place for this, so I'd head there. THe place has no electricity, it has propane, wood stove, well/pump and no refrigeration. Has a pond on property, nearest neighbor is a half mile. THis property is fenced. Bring a couple big generators, fill the propane tanks, buy a large fuel tank fill it with fuel, gather lots of firewood, like 10 cords. set up a high tech security/surveillance system all around the property that would have to run off generator but probably not a lot of energy consumed. So you have defensible position with plenty of supplies in extreme isolation. That's probably about as good as you can hope for.

Except when everyone that read the book goes there. Although that does make a good argument for getting there first and setting up a walled compound.. then just rob/kill everyone who wants to come in. (Unless they're hot chicks, then they can stay)

Buy a big ### truck, small boat and ATV. Head to northern Manitoba/Saskatchewan and find an island on a small lake to build a little cabin on. Get a couple holding tanks of gas buried in a remote relocation and fill'em up. Live of wild game, fishing and farming. This may also be my retirement plan (minus the holding tanks for gas).

No. Those 2 weeks are spent blowing all available money and credit on hookers and blow, and purchasing 1 more machete (so I have 2).

Do you like machettes? If so, I could use a good 2nd in command as I take over the remmenants of DC. You could eventually have a coup and seize power for a while. But then I'll learn to weild a 3rd machette with my left foot and come back triple wielding, so watch out!
