What the actual #### was that trade?  Give up Lindor and Cookie for that?  Dolan is a cheapass who shouldn't own the team.  You can't tell me that was the best deal, and if it was the only deal, you hold onto the players and trade them later.  What a joke!  Back to obscurity.  This team had trouble producing runs last year.  Frankie was a lone bright spot in that regard.  Now there's no one.  Jose is by his lonesome with no one there to help.  Crappy way to start 2021.

:goodposting:  I am stunned at the trade and don’t understand it at all. Dolan definitely needs to go!

Francona kept Bauers over Bradley because he is out of options. Bradley 'tore the cover off the ball' in spring games, has proven big power in the minors and Bauers has proven that he doesn't have a lot of power. There is a reason Bauers is on his 3rd team as a professional. 

Bauers has 54 home runs* in 2145 minor league at bats*.

Bradley has  139 home runs* in 2246 minor league at bats*.

*does not include limited season rookie league

Power bats are what The Tribe is seriously lacking compared to other contenders and pretenders

Runners on 1st and 3rd, nobody out. What could possibly go wrong to not score a run? 

A triple play of course. Ugh

First time since 2000 they have hit into one (Sandy Alomar)

Rick Manning was banging Eck's wife (and later married her) which led to his being traded to Boston.  The Indians 'had' to get rid of one of them and they chose Eckersley. Maybe he's still upset about that situation 40 years later  :shrug:

The Athletic did a long story on Eckersley. He claims that he did not know about the affair until he was traded to Boston, and she then told him that she was not going with him, and why she was not going. Eck says he forgives but doesn't forget. His ex-wife is named Denise which is kind of funny, at least to me. They also had a two-year old baby in the mix, which doesn't speak well for Denise or Rick.

 
The Indians were no hit for the FOURTH time this year.  It doesn't matter if it was 7 innings; things weren't hopeful for any 8th or 9th inning either.

I've been a fan of this team for over 50 years, and I've never seen such hitting futility in my life.  Somehow this is worse than Chuck Finley getting beat up by Tawney Kitaen (RIP) or Kaz Tadano and his Japanese gay porn career.

 
Take this as you would, but a Tribe blogger has heard the new name will be Guardians. His PM to me when I asked about it reads:

Hey man so this is what I’ve been told.

My cousin lives in downtown Chicago and told me this. 

"Person I work with has a good friend that is part of the committee in charge of changing the name."

He’s a White Sox fan so he doesn’t care at all what the Indians do.

The name is mostly fine especially if you’re a Clevelander. If you don’t like it, I imagine in time it will be OK. Nationally, it probably gets ripped but it’s mostly due to being uneducated on the subject. 

The baseball G wing logo is absolutely terrible. I can’t believe that’s what they came up with. Fans have put out FAR better logos. I hope they reconsider.

I would have loved The Spiders but can't complain too much about keeping the  IANS part of the IndIANS name for 'some' sort of continuity.  

I'll always covet my Indians jacket that I wore with pride in kindergarten.  Absolutely love native peoples and I will always love my Tribe but will root for the Guardians with pride.   

Time for that change.

 
Season basically over. No playoffs this year. Currently looking at pick 12 in the 2022 draft with a good shot of getting into the top 10 to get a much needed outfield power bat. Hope they keep losing.
All those pitchers they drafted this year will be good trade bait in the future.

The last home game ended up on a Monday afternoon because of course it did. 
Interesting to note that www.guardians.com is still available.  🤔

 
So disappointed in the 2021 season.  The Braves played a good series and I'm glad they took the title over the Asterisks.  But how does MLB let the Braves continue with the name, the logo, and the tomahawk chants on primetime tv?  They'll be celebrated and no one will care.  Their ownership won't back down like CLE did.  I hate the name.  I hate the logo.  It's still my team, but god I hate it.
