WR Josh Gordon, KC (33 Viewers)

How does it give them positive PR to allow a bunch of drug users to come back without any punishment?

Those people who want the players back are going to keep watching regardless of what happens to Gordon and all.
I don't see this as immediate positive PR...For the NFL & owners this is about decreasing negative PR in the future as this conceivably should limit the number times they have to suspend future players for this kind of thing. You're right its not for the fans that don't care about the player's private lives, it's for the 'other' fans and media that will continue to build up a negative view of the league and it's players with every successive drug related suspension. Unsuspending current players is just the price for getting it done not the actual PR move itself.

So, does the whole "NFL knew about the Rice tape" and the heat that will come with it just throw a monkey wrench in the machine here?

Hard to see how it couldn't.
I guess it depends if the NFL thinks that public opinion is "who cares what drugs these guys take, I want to see them play!" OR "first the NFL let Ray Rice off easy and now they want to rig the system so that drug users get no punishment???".

Bottom line is Goodell/shield needs some positive PR right now. Not sure which end game they think would be perceived as positive.
I wouldn't trust their instincts on it, anyway. Remember, Goodell / the NFL initially thought that Ray Rice's 2-game suspension would be positively perceived. They released the news on a Thursday, (rather than waiting for the Friday news dump like you do for anything you think you'll come under fire for), and did the entire media circuit patting themselves on the back over how well they did.

Vote: Do I name this youtube video "Suck it, Gordon Naysayers" or "Gordon Porn"?
This guy is already rejoicing ... I would reserve judgment for *after* Gordon is on the field...

You know the day his appeal was denied he went and smoked a blunt. There was no reason not to.

Why would the representatives that are in the AFC North agree to reinstatement. Why would the representatives of the AFC west agree to reinstatement. Why would any team that would not have a player reinstated agree to reinstatement as part of the deal?
Because they thought it was a dumb rule to begin with and people shouldn't be punished for it??

Mortensen is unequivocal in his assertion. Rappaport is indicating a 'reduced' suspension for Gordon. I think what it may come down to is all players will be re-instated while players like Welker/Scandrick recoup game checks while Gordon gets credited with time served on a two game suspension but recoups no money from those games. JMO

If Gordon gets re-instated, in one of my FPC leagues I will have these 6 WRs - Antonio Brown; Josh Gordon; Andre Johnson; Larry Fitzgerald; Marques Colston; Percy Harvin.....I know none of you care about my teams so keep those comments with you.....but I will have no clue which two to bench every week....my head will indeed explode....and I know you want to know the rest of my team - I still have McCoy; Frank Gore; Moreno and Woodhead at RB and Nick Foles at QB.....

CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!

It sounds to me like it's 100% certain that IF it passes, Gordon's suspension will 100% be reviewed and might be adjusted or eliminated.

The only thing I see as 100% is that regardless of what happens this month, Gordon will pop a test again within 7 months, as he's done since HS.

No go on, I thirst for more information about your league and your team. Really. I would have had him with Calvin and Cobb but traded him for Spiller and Benjamin today. I think he fails another test before this summer. Sorry.

Maybe. But if he does get reinstated, I'm going to ride the reigning #1 PPG WR as my WR3 until that happens.

iLL HAVE Megatron, DT, Gordon, and VJAX but thats cute.

We can start up to 5 receivers in my 32 team league. I've got demaryius, calvin, julio, dez, aj and marshall, but with the marshall ankle news my bye week receiver was going to be a little weak so this would be an enormous help.

Rapaport just said on air that his suspension could be 'reduced'. Now if they give him 8 games , that's a disaster to those going all in on these waivers tonight or last night.

This is from Will Caroll @injuryexpert. He's a pretty credible source when it comes to this stuff..

@injuryexpert: Don't rush to pick up Josh Gordon his drug test took place in league year 2013. The new league year seems to be cutoff in talks.

makes no sense....hes either missing this season or he comes back instantly.
this. Really can't see any other outcome, unless he has another looming suspension that will be handed out now. Either the new standards apply to his case, or they do not. If they do, its no suspension. If they do not apply, then it is 16 games.

Mort meant that with probability 1 the HGH/ drug policy being discussed includes a provision that will result in the immediate reinstatement of Gordon, Welker, etc. The inference is that Mort's sources are infallible, the particular provision that we're concerned about has already been agreed upon, etc. However, he implied that it's still uncertain that both parties agree to the overarching deal.

Gotta love this topic...

This is all speculation from all sides. We have fantasy fans, waiver wire gold diggers, and marijuana advocates united to free Gordon... Then we have anti-pot people talking about how he broke the rules and should be punished. Then there are the people that weren't quick enough to pick him off waivers who are just salty and don't want him to play because he's not on their roster. This is great.

Salfino was the first to let us know that the vote didn't take place last night and here's what he has to say today.... Which camp do you think I'm with?

Mortensen says again w/out equivocation Gordon SPECIFICALLY will, repeat WILL, be among those immediately reinstated. Progress on deal made.
