Hey guys, I've been extremely interested in what type of league we are heading towards and I've found that the wide receiver position is the best representation of that.
I noticed things were a little strange 2 weeks ago when someone started the Calvin Johnson thread. Obviously that thread ended up being right, but at the time Calvin was on pace for 1687 yards, a tremendous number, at least for what we have seen in the past.
The thing that seemed strange to me was even though he was on pace for those astronomical numbers, he was still WR7.
Even now after 2 dud games hes still on pace for 94 catches 1458 yards and 3 TDs. Obviously the TDs are the big point of contention, but the point is 94 catches and 1458 yard pace and hes WR17!!!
The biggest thing I've noticed when comparing 2012 to 2011 is that passing is way, way up, but not from the teams you would expect.
It seems the copy cat league has once again followed the leader. This is setting up to be an unheard of year for WR targets... I am interested to see if this pace keeps up
Below are the stat totals each player would have if they continue on the pace they are now... check out the targets(especially Reggie Wayne's)

Last year only 2 WRs had over 158 targets.. it looks like we could be seeing well over that this year
