I didn't realize he was from a small Michigan town, knew he went to MSU. He is one of the hardest baseball autographs of the last 50 years. He pitched in 106 games and 208 innings that year and also pitched in an incredible 13 consecutive games.
“I was dismissed as a physical freak,” he said. “I did things nobody had ever done. For me not to be considered the best relief pitcher in the history of baseball is silly.”He pitched in 106 games and 208 innings that year and also pitched in an incredible 13 consecutive games.
I imagine that he and Rickey Henderson went bowling together quite a bit.“I was dismissed as a physical freak,” he said. “I did things nobody had ever done. For me not to be considered the best relief pitcher in the history of baseball is silly.”

All one can hope for is that the fall killed him. I can't imagine just waiting to die down there. This is one kind of death I wouldn't want to experience.

I'll never hear banjo music the same.Beatty always linked to Deliverance for me. But always good and pretty amazing range.
I watch this scene often, never gets old for me. They should create an Oscar category for appearances that are brief but longer than cameos and call it the Ned Beatty.you wanna talk deliverance? how' bout of the greatest soliliquy in cinema history?!

my BFF & his gf (now wife of 30yrs) moved w me to Reno 100yrs ago and the missus was fighting our bacheloristic design concepts tooth & nail in furnishing our house. we conferenced and her concession was to allow us to pick out the couch, since we'd be suckin our brewskis and watchin our balls on it hour-after-hour. we scoured the Biggest Li'l City for a week seeking the most obnoxious piece of furniture within her autumnal color scheme. found it, named it Herb after those garish WKRP trousers. she sighed every time she entered the room for as long as we lived together, so *hands on hips* "our job is done!". when my Mary came along, she loved Herb for the same reason we did and thrilled to do filthy things on it (one of the reasons i talk about her still). she even kept it after my friends moved out. miss you, Herb. I really hope he’s buried in one of those sweet suits he wore on the show. It only seems fitting.Frank Bonner, aka Herb Tarlek (WKRP in Cincinnati) - 79
