______ Passed Away Today, RIP (4 Viewers)

RIP Vic Vega :(
I usually remember characters by the actors names and not the character names, so it took me forever to link Travolta from Pulp Fiction being Madsen from Reservoir Dogs brother.
As a brief aside, always wondered what happened to Vic Vega from these boards. Was a big music guy and part of our early music threads - probably talking 15-20 years ago by now.

Former Bruins(81-92) enforcer Lyndon Byers passed away at 61

Rip LB
Cause of death hasn’t seem to be mentioned - just hope it wasn’t another in the long line of CTE-related deaths among former enforcers.

Also remember him from having a cameo (along with Cam Neely) in the video for “Hole Hearted” by Extreme:

#BREAKING: According to @TMZ Malcolm Jamal Warner, best known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has passed away from an accidental drowning.
While on vacation with his daughter. Horrible. I really really would hate to die in front of my family like that. So traumatizing.
I've been to Costa Rica once- during college spring break, late 80s or 90. we stayed in the exact same spot- and went to that beach a bunch (my friends were surfers and had been told about it being a nice break at Playa Grande at Punta Uva.

our last day at that beach, we go out bodysurfing and before long I'm getting pounded by waves and getting farther from the beach... couldn't get my head out of the water long enough to get good breath and couldn't get back to the beach. I was starting to freak out. I looked to my friends who were still in the same spot as me for help- both surfed and were life-guards grwoing up. but they were clearly in trouble too. one of them realized we were caught in a rip and said to ride it out past the break... which we did. swam parallel to the shore a bit (after catching my breath treading water waaay out) and then swam back without problem. that's the most scared I've ever been in the water (although not a competitive swimmer, and not a surfer, I grew up in the water sailing and did triathlons as an adult). we found out afterwards from our hotel that somebody had died there recently. huge, gorgeous beach- we were literally the only people there. nothing else there other than sand and trees- no hotel (at the time), shacks, shops, bars... nothing.

I'm almost 100% certain that's the same beach Warner died at.

Rest in peace Ozzy. You made your mark on this world.

I'll never forget first listening to those Sabbath albums in the 70s before even becoming a teenager and then first hearing Blizzard of Oz in 1980.

So I went to take a shower in middle of the day - I cast Blizzard of Ozz on my speaker (for the first time in many years) and jump in. I get out, dry off and grab a Black Sabbath T-Shirt out of my drawer without making the connection until a few minutes later, and have a chuckle about it. I sit at my desk and then see Ozzy has passed,

Weird and spooky coincidences,

Three sinister notes and that inimitable voice croaking "What is this... That stands before me..." and an entire genre was born out of a backdrop of thunder and rain.

The Prince of Darkness. The Godfather of Metal. Ozzy lived a life and left an indelible mark on music and pop culture. I'm just grateful he had a chance to say goodbye.

Weird and spooky coincidences,

We've been binging episodes of The Osbournes the last few weekends ... it's like the universe was prodding us.

...

Pop culture indeed. Rockin' the latest Ozzy tour shirt was instant clout among my middle-school crew. I still remember the guy who was the first to walk into the cafeteria with his Bark at the Moon softball jersey. All the public schools around here went to uniforms ~30 years ago ... don't have those kinds of moments anymore.

More a tribute to Randy Rhodes. Mr crowley remains my favorite guitar solo. Starting at 220 in the clip. Then 430. . There are many incredible ones. Many rated higher. This just seems amazing to me. And written at age 23.

Strong claim for Ozzy's best solo song, IMHO.

i saw them in 2016 in oakland for the end tour and I told my buddy that life had peaked, I’ve seen so many damn bands but Sabbath blew me away

George Kooymans, guitarist and co-lead singer of Dutch rock band Golden Earring, has passed away at the age of 77, after a long battle with ALS.

RIP to the author of the classic song 'Radar Love'.
Damn - he was a fantastic guitarist (and solid singer) that often didn’t get the appreciation he deserved despite the band being together in its entirety for 50+ years.
