______ Passed Away Today, RIP (3 Viewers)

Kenneth Washington, last surviving main member of the show Hogan's Heroes, dies at 89. Washington played Sgt. Baker, who replaced Kinchloe as radio operator in Season 6. He also appeared in the 1973 film "Westworld" as well as roles in the TV series "The Paul Lynde Show," "The F.B.I.," "The Rockford Files" and "Police Story." One of his last TV appearances was alongside Jasmine Guy in "A Different World."

Lived for Sunday morning wrestling after church on Sundays as a kid. Was as big a Hulk Hogan fan as they came. In college we all loved the NWO shtick and would play voodoo child walking onto softball feilds or whatever we were playing for the laughs. Monday nitro parties at our apt got ridiculous.

This one hurts me the most. Such a big part of my younger years in all kinds of different forms.

Same here. I know he became hard to like later in life, but I have too many great memories from my teens and 20s that are tied to him, from watching him on TV with my dad to doing leg drops into the pool on vacation with my cousins, to ignore what a big figure he was from afar for me.

R.I.P. Hulkster.

Was just texting with my wife about what a bad week it's been for 80's legends and it got me thinking.

With respect to what their popularity was at their height in the 80's, now what it is now, who is the most popular living person from the 80's? Madonna?

So sad about Ozzy. Ozzy was a huge part of my childhood along with Dio and others from that time. Love the touring stories of him and Motley Crue. Was such a great person who really supported other acts including the newer bands and artist today.

Hulkster? Well let’s just say I’ll keep it light not to get a Timeout. Absolute garbage human, PEDS, liar, racist cheat and steal. I have a few friends in the industry and some of the personal stories are worse then what’s out there but I’ll let those people tell those stories. He screwed Macho Man, Davey Boy, Dusty and countless others including POC in professional lives. His son should absolutely be in jail right now too.

He made wrestling more popular but it was an absolute cheap gimmick and screwed so many others along the way. Was really never a fan. Was more of a fan of Davey Boy, steamboat, Macho etc. later on in WCW cruiserweights and Crow Sting. Really like Scott Hall too. Dam shame Hall didn’t do more and win another heavyweight strap or two. Another guy screwed over by Hulk

Are we talking alive or general because I’d Say Ozzy was one of the more popular. Hogan became more popular for all the wrong reasons the last 15 yrs. 80s bands have made a resurgence in the last 10 yrs. Madonna probably living along with Tom Cruise.

Living.

Tom Cruise was actually the second person I thought off, but Michael Jordan as mentioned earlier was an omission my part, more because I think of him as a 90's guy but that's not entirely accurate.

As an 80's child/teen just thinking of this in terms of who were the immense stars from that era, people who dominated the famous landscape, the people I'd read about in my mom's Star Magazine when I was dropping a duece, those kind of people.

Arnold and Stalone, Tyson, Jordan, Shaq, Trump, maybe Tiger Woods.

George Kooymans, guitarist and co-lead singer of Dutch rock band Golden Earring, has passed away at the age of 77, after a long battle with ALS.

RIP to the author of the classic song 'Radar Love'.

Was wondering why I was hearing Radar Love on the radio a whole bunch the last day or two. :-(

Careful who you list, we don't want Death getting any more 80s ideas.

Chuck Mangione, the most famous practitioner of the flugelhorn

I only really know him from Feels So Good, but what a song that is. Also appreciated him lampooning himself in several pop up appearances on King Of The Hill.

Add in some Al Linder on In-Fisherman and that about nails it. Simpler times.

My dad loved this guy and listened to him all the time. True virtuoso. Of all the losses this week this one hits home.
