You don't have a guest wifi? This struck me as weird. I was told he was coming in to repair my TV when in fact he was coming in to get authorization from LG to replace the panel or replace the TV. He had to access the internet on one device while talking to LG on another phone. Am I overreacting?
I thought it was standard on most newish routers.Nope. Not a bad idea,
Whole home I assume but don't know the difference. Is it whole home wifi or just regular wifi?
3 month old OLED LG TV.Seems odd to hire a TV repairman rather than just buying a new TV
Couldn’t he just use his phone as a hotspot for his laptop? This struck me as weird. I was told he was coming in to repair my TV when in fact he was coming in to get authorization from LG to replace the panel or replace the TV. I read that as checkbutts4meI always have a guest WiFi setup. Password: chetbucks4me
I don't know Chet, but just going by the rumors on this board he seems like the type of guy that just buys a new car when his old car runs out of gas. I can only imagine what he does to a television if he gets a smudge or stops working.probably under warranty and they're fixing it so they don't have to replace it
That was a a joke referring to the thread about "whole home wifi". To which the majority of fbgs had the same response as you.Whole home I assume but don't know the difference.
I think it was the one that Cameron Diaz has stayed at.Which house is this at?
Google “change WiFi password”Anyone care to chime in on this?
Also, what could he have done? Saved malware?
You don’t have a separate WiFi for the live in servants?Nope. Not a bad idea,
Serious but probably stupid question:Google “change WiFi password”
thats how I did mine last time.
RouterSerious but probably stupid question:
Do you set your wifi name and password through the router or the modem?
Isn’t this almost certainly the answer, or is everyone else being sarcastic in here? I can’t tell anymore. Was he setting up the wifi for the tv connection?
If I changed my WiFi password I’d have to spend the next few weeks entering the new password into all the crap that needs it around here. We’re not even a high tech family. My neighbor just bought a dishwasher that connects to his WiFi. Not kidding. How do you change your wifi password? I believe I am logged into the router and this is the screen I'm looking at but I can't find any info about our wifi networks. TIA
My wifi password is my mobile number. If someone asks, that's what I tell them. If you don't have my mobile number in your phone, you're not hopping onto my wifi, use a hotspot.Google “change WiFi password”
thats how I did mine last time.
No because he entered in his phone and the TV already was connected. He was running a diagnostic.Isn’t this almost certainly the answer, or is everyone else being sarcastic in here? I can’t tell anymore.

This is why you have a guest network.chet said:This struck me as weird. So you're running a much higher level home network than most here. That is your firewall, doesn't appear that it has any control for access points so something else is running your wifi. Who put that in for you?chet said:How do you change your wifi password? I believe I am logged into the router and this is the screen I'm looking at but I can't find any info about our wifi networks. Thanks. It was installed by a local company called Tunnelvision. I just figured this out thanks to my friend's network guy. I spent two hours messing around with the router that had no control over the wifi.So you're running a much higher level home network than most here. I now have a guest login and am able to change the SSID passwords. :shortbus:
If you were running your wifi through the Fortigate you would see "WiFi Controller" on the left hand menus. So you're running a much higher level home network than most here.
