He failed to learn the Bucs play book and was let go by them after camp last season.

Weird morning in the Shark Pool.  Wouldn't let me put all those in the same post, but whatever.  I watched McNichols in the first half against Houston this week.  I wanted to be impressed as I think McKinnon needs a complementary guy, and I think Breida and McKinnon are very similar to the point that they don't really work as the complements.  However, I'm not sure McNichols is the guy either, but I guess I could be wrong.

As @Biabreakable said, the metrics profile for McNichols is strong.  He's been a RotoViz darling and a PlayerProfiler darling with a top comparable of Melvin Gordon.  He's bigger than Williams and Breida, though reports out of camp this year suggested he had lost weight down to the 205 range (which would make him pretty similar to McKinnon).  I'm not sure there's much here, but it's a situation worth monitoring.  If Morris looks like he did last year for Dallas, then the Morris/McKinnon combo is probably the right one for a year.

What do I know?  Discuss.

i didn’t get to see him play. Bit of a subpar rushing line but he caught 3 of 4 balls. If he ends up last man standing he’ll have PPR value.

I think that's kind of the thing ... the situation is ripe for someone to provide some value.  McKinnon will be the lead guy, but he needs a between-the-tackles complement, IMO (which isn't exactly a hot taek).  The question is who's left standing.

Williams wasn't exactly impressing before, and now he's hurt with a broken rib, which to me feels like another year on IR, depending on whether or not Shanahan still wants him.  McNichols, in theory, should have the playbook down better than his Tampa days given the amount of time he's had in the offense after spending last year on the practice squad.  The OL was definitely bad against Houston, but Houston was also playing without Watt and Clowney, so ... I do think part of the blame goes at the OL's collective feet, but still.

Morris looked good for Dallas last year.  I remember in the preseason, he was leading the league in yards after contact.  He's almost 30 (in September), so maybe he's lost it ... or maybe he just needed to get back in a ZBS and he'll be the perfect thunder to McKinnon's lightning.

I saw something on twitter (I think) suggesting Shanahan's obsession with sub-210lb RBs certainly felt like he was searching for the lightning component in his backfield, knowing he had Morris waiting for him the whole time.

Ha yeah he came out of nowhere but I actually started him last year for a game or 2 and got good production. I’m thinking of stashing McNichols in real deep leagues.

I saw some of his runs in most recent game and he looked alright.

I think he is kind of like Mike Boone in that McNicols is a good athlete but doesn't have good vision to read his blocks and run consistently inside. Not sure he is as explosive as Mike Boone in space.

Its possible with experience and practice that he improves on this. I didn't notice him missing anything in his most recent game unlike Mike Boone.

 
Jeremy McNichols rushed five times for 51 yards in the Titans' Week 6 win over the Texans, adding two receptions for 11 additional yards. 

With Darrynton Evans (hamstring) on injured reserve, McNichols has served as Derrick Henry's clear-cut backup since the Titans returned from their coronavirus exile, handling 17 touches in two games. That's not nothing, but McNichols is being employed as a pure breather back. What we have learned is that McNichols would likely form a committee with Evans were Henry to ever go down with injury. It is unknown how much longer Evans might be sidelined. He is required to miss at least two more contests.

Jeremy McNichols caught 8-of-12 targets for 74 yards, adding 11 yards on one carry in the Titans' Week 4 loss to the Jets.

McNichols is the pass-catching back alongside Derrick Henry, and he saw increased usage with the Titans operating in negative script for part of the game and A.J. Brown and Julio Jones out. He'll likely have a few usable weeks, but McNichols is certainly not going to be a dependable option on a weekly basis.

Wow, this is his historical thread? I think it's pretty telling that this is all we know about this guy since he started in the league. Maybe those rumors that he won't be the main guy is true.

I snagged him but watching the situation close. Titans are bringing in Adrian Peterson for a workout this week. Personally I think ADP would be the guy to have if he signs.

Yes but this isn’t bad for McNichols. We all know how poor Peterson is at catching the ball.  McNichols may not be the bell cow but his role increases significantly with the Peterson signing.

Yes, in PPR, he's definitely worth stashing. I may pick multiple guys if I can for Titans and see which one pans out. If you go zero RB this is what you have to do to survive. Can't be picky because these guys aren't clearly lead back material like Pollard or Mattison. Look at patterson...

He does seem to fit the 3rd down/long yardage back. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a better first game than AP since Rams figure to be ahead. But if we are talking rest of season I think AP is the guy, especially in standard formats.
