RB Ray Davis, BUF (1 Viewer)

Jacob Gibbs
Ray Davis -- tough running with patience and enough burst to occasionally create explosives. Looks the part as a natural complement to James Cook and capable of handling a full workload when needed.

Week 6:
- 23 touches
- 152 scrimmage yards

OK I have him, now what?
at this point he only has value if Cook is out or if you own cook and need a handcuff. but I really like his skillset. I saw him early in the season and Liked him at that time

I would have tried to pick him up if Cook was gonna be out a while but it looked like it might only be a 1 week thing (2 at most) at this point it looks like cook is probably gonna play

Didn't make an appearance in the box score.

Did he get any snaps?

Was he hurt?

A little surprised. He seems like a dynamic talent and I thought he was eating into Cook's production.

Was dropped prior to kickoffs and now I'm wondering if he's worth it if Ty Johnson is suddenly a thing.

I think Ty Johnson is the receiving guy and the game script certainly favored his heavy usage

Not sure Ray Davis would be the home run handcuff if Cook actually got injured

Agreed on the first part. 17 total rushes with Allen with 10, Cook 6 (all the RB rushes) and Samuel 1.

Still think he is a strong hold over the next few weeks with them having 3 games in 10 days or whatever during the playoff stretch (if you go through the final week).

Weeks 16 and 17 at home where they will be favored heavily. Could see usage there.

Was mildly disappointed last year as an owner, but still have high hopes for him. Not every rookie RB sprints out of the gates, and it wasn't like he was terrible

Not for nuthin, the James Cook situation hasn’t been resolved. He said he wanted or expected a certain number. The Bills haven’t indicated that they’re willing to pay him that amount. Those things could escalate, especially with Ray Davis laying in the weeds. I’ve tried to acquire him to no avail.

With Cook’s production and explosiveness think they find a way to keep him. Just a matter of negotiation to get the best team friendly deal. Davis is likely to be a very good handcuff and may get a few more carries than last year. And Ty Johnson played well last year and seems to be preferred in passing situations. He’s going to siphon off touches.
Davis is as things stand only getting a small piece of the touches. Coupled with that Allen will continue being a quality goal line option which limits Davis’s upside as well.

So I’d be looking to sell Davis. He’s a good back who could handle RB1 duties but his upside arrives if Cook is injured. Unless Cook salary demands are outrageous I would think the Bills will retain their best weapon.
Buffalo’s receivers scare no one and they need Cook and he’s the better RB.
