RB Ray Davis, BUF (2 Viewers)

Jacob Gibbs
Ray Davis -- tough running with patience and enough burst to occasionally create explosives. Looks the part as a natural complement to James Cook and capable of handling a full workload when needed.

Week 6:
- 23 touches
- 152 scrimmage yards

OK I have him, now what?
at this point he only has value if Cook is out or if you own cook and need a handcuff. but I really like his skillset. I saw him early in the season and Liked him at that time

I would have tried to pick him up if Cook was gonna be out a while but it looked like it might only be a 1 week thing (2 at most) at this point it looks like cook is probably gonna play

Didn't make an appearance in the box score.

Did he get any snaps?

Was he hurt?

A little surprised. He seems like a dynamic talent and I thought he was eating into Cook's production.

Was dropped prior to kickoffs and now I'm wondering if he's worth it if Ty Johnson is suddenly a thing.

I think Ty Johnson is the receiving guy and the game script certainly favored his heavy usage

Not sure Ray Davis would be the home run handcuff if Cook actually got injured

Agreed on the first part. 17 total rushes with Allen with 10, Cook 6 (all the RB rushes) and Samuel 1.

Still think he is a strong hold over the next few weeks with them having 3 games in 10 days or whatever during the playoff stretch (if you go through the final week).

Weeks 16 and 17 at home where they will be favored heavily. Could see usage there.

Was mildly disappointed last year as an owner, but still have high hopes for him. Not every rookie RB sprints out of the gates, and it wasn't like he was terrible

Not for nuthin, the James Cook situation hasn’t been resolved. He said he wanted or expected a certain number. The Bills haven’t indicated that they’re willing to pay him that amount. Those things could escalate, especially with Ray Davis laying in the weeds. I’ve tried to acquire him to no avail.

With Cook’s production and explosiveness think they find a way to keep him. Just a matter of negotiation to get the best team friendly deal. Davis is likely to be a very good handcuff and may get a few more carries than last year. And Ty Johnson played well last year and seems to be preferred in passing situations. He’s going to siphon off touches.
Davis is as things stand only getting a small piece of the touches. Coupled with that Allen will continue being a quality goal line option which limits Davis’s upside as well.

So I’d be looking to sell Davis. He’s a good back who could handle RB1 duties but his upside arrives if Cook is injured. Unless Cook salary demands are outrageous I would think the Bills will retain their best weapon.
Buffalo’s receivers scare no one and they need Cook and he’s the better RB.

Its feels like a foregone conclusion that at some point this year the bills will let Davis kick a PAT after his own TD.

Probably against my dolphins since it would have to be in a blowout 😭

BUF offense can be a strange one to figure out at times. I grabbed a bunch of shares of Davis this year and was pretty happy about it. Not sure what to do now, and I think it obviously depends onn league format, depth of league, etc.

In a strange way, his lack of touches sort of reinforces just how valuable he might be if Cook were to suffer an injury. But, if you're looking for him to be the type of backup RB who gets 7-10 touches per game, that player may not exist on BUF.

I have considered this myself but they do seem to love Ty Johnson. And Johnson does look like he has a little spark when he touches the ball

I never expected Davis to be flex worthy without an injury but now I wonder if he'd do better than 50/50 if Cook went down

So at that point, maybe not even a handcuff. I dont think he's more talented than Sean Tucker or Jarquez Hunter, who are also lotto tickets in muddied high power backfields Better than Brashard Smith, I assume but Brashard may be closer to touches.

Should of grabbed Ty. He will be Cooks backup if he got hurt, not Davis.

Snooze ya lose

Ty is the backup to Cooks. The Bills had him in over Davis in playoffs last year and he did great....

I think that is still TBD...Johnson is the 3rd Down/COP back...he has a defined role which he has done very well with...if Cook got hurt I'm not sure that would change.

If that's what you want to believe. .LOL
Go and look at the 2 playoff games against Pitt n KC last year. It was Johnson taking over for Cooks, not Davis. Johnson had 15 total carries 3 targets and Davis had ZERO carries, zero targets.
Hmmmmmmm
The coaches know who is better. That's why Ty played and not Davis during last year's playoffs games and it carried into this season.

Yeah, I had been thinking of dropping Davis for another lotto ticket. Blew it. Forgot BUF played Thursday night now I'm stuck with him.

Even if Cooks goes down, it would be a split backfield at best with T. Johnson.

Ty is probably a sneaky ffpc pickup, I'd be he's on a lot of wires
Where he should be.

No upside and Ray Davis is the handcuff.

If you want to believe Davis is Cooks handcuff, waste a roster spot if you want,bc Ty would step in and get the majority of touches if Cooks goes down.

All you need to do is go back to last year's 2 playoff games the Bill played aainst KC and Pitts.. Ty had 15 carries and 2 targets in those 2 games, while Davis never touched the ball. It's all the proof you need in who the coaches prefer.
Id be grabbing Ty and dropping Davis if I had Davis. Thank me later.

I'm not even trying to be rude but I simply think you have no idea what you are talking about.

Cooks missed one game last year. Davis had 23 touches and rolled. TY got his normal 4 touches.

TY will almost always play more in games Cooks is healthy because he's not the backup, he's got a specific role whereas Davis is the backup so his role only grows with a Cooks injury.

You keep mentioning the playoffs and it makes me wonder, along with the rest of your faulty analysis, if you even are aware that Ray Davis got a concussion in the first playoff game?

Interesting.

But still, zero carries?? Had 9 last week (although that was a blowout).

Was he even in there to give Cooks a break on passing plays?

Davis had 4 snaps. 4! I actually had him in my lineup last night due to an injury and a horrible RB draft. Goose Egg's R US.

Touched the ball twice (receptions) and ended with 20 yards and a TD. Bills looked better when they rotated him in last year ...

Where does he stand now? Looks useless, unless there's an injury to Cook.

Cook has been fantastic, but I'm def surprised he's not reallygetting any touches--he'd be a solid contributor on a lot of other teams

As a Cook owner (and have Davis as the handcuff), Ty Johnson clearly has nude photos of Joe Brady.
