RB Josh Jacobs, GB (1 Viewer)

Jacobs with some very good runs to start this game.

Then they bring in Richard for 3rd down and try to run with him. He barely got the first down.

No idea where this game thread is.

Josh Jacobs said he's been playing through a fractured shoulder since Week 7.

Jacobs did not practice on Wednesday, but he's missed practice before and hasn't missed a game yet. That trend should continue as long as he gets a limited practice in before Friday. Jacobs will be on the RB1/2 borderline for Week 14 against the Titans assuming he's ready to go.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Josh Jacobs (shoulder) "didn’t do much" at practice Friday.

Jacobs is officially questionable with his fractured shoulder and is headed towards a game-time decision. Gruden said DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard are ready to go if Jacobs is unable to play through his injury for the first time all season. Whoever starts at running back will be running behind a backup right tackle with Trent Brown already ruled out.

Raiders RT Trent Brown (pec) has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Titans.

Brandon Parker will draw the start. It's obviously a big downgrade for the Raiders offense. Oakland also notably listed RB Josh Jacobs as questionable. Vegas has the visiting Titans as field-goal favorites. That line may continue to slide towards Tennessee.

I am leaning towards Richard in PPR.
Me too.  Richard was already getting 30%-40% of snaps with Jacobs healthy (he has 28% of snaps on the year).  Richard should get at least 50% of snaps if Jacobs is out.  Richard has much more value in PPR if snaps are evenly split.  Washington could get a lot more snaps than Richard if the Raiders get a big lead but that isn't likely.

Agree about the PPR value of Richard over Washington.

RB 2 has been rough this year for me. Guice in my line-up now but just picked up Richard and will roll him out if Jacobs is out. I think Jacobs plays this week but if Oakland loses, they night shut him down.

@VicTafur

I do, and not that much. As one player said Friday, once you get that shot, you don’t feel ####.

Cory Radford

@CoryRadford79

2 part question. Do you think Josh Jacobs plays? If so will his playing time be diminished because of the lack of practice Friday?
FWIW, this beat writer thinks that he's a go tomorrow and will not be limited much.

Man I'm nervous about this. Afternoon game so I would be screwed if he doesn't go. Do I just start Powell or grab Washington and plug him in if Jacobs is out...

I picked up Powell and Washington last night. I think I'm going with Bilal. I think he's a much better play than Washington if Jacobs sits.

Rotoworld:

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Josh Jacobs (questionable, shoulder) is a "true game-time decision" for Week 14 against the Titans.

Jacobs returned to what the Raiders deemed as a "limited" practice on Friday after sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday, though coach Jon Gruden admitted the rookie "didn't do much." Playing through a broken shoulder that has reportedly bothered him since Week 7, it's a coin flip whether Jacobs sees the field Sunday for the Raiders' 4:25 PM ET kickoff. Already over 1,000 yards rushing for the year, Jacobs has been an immediate difference-maker for Oakland and his loss would be felt in both real life and fantasy. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard would form an uninspiring committee against the Titans if Jacobs can't go.

Rotoworld:

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reports Josh Jacobs (shoulder) will be inactive for Week 14 against the Titans.

That leaves Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington as the primary ballcarriers for Oakland. It's a major loss for Oakland, who has been hiding the passing game with heavy doses of Josh Jacobs. The rookie is headed for an MRI on his fractured shoulder. We'll learn more on his rest of season projection this week. Expect Richard to handle most receiving work with Washington seeing more of a rushing role.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Josh Jacobs' (shoulder) MRI came back clean, and the rookie is expected to play Week 15 against the Jaguars.

Bad news for managers who splurged on DeAndre Washington via waivers, but Jacobs was never expected to miss the remainder of the year. After sitting Week 14, Jacobs is ready to roll as a high-end RB1 against a Jaguars defense that has laid down in recent weeks. Jacksonville has the least fight of any team in the league.

I'm surprised at how low he's ranked by FBGs this week. He's been one of the steadier backs this year. I know he was held out last week because of broken shoulder, but with a positive MRI, why would Oakland throw him back in there if they were fearful of a worse injury? Seems like he would be a good play against the JAX def.

They are slow to adapting to the news. They still see him not playing or split with Washington until the picture is clear.

Just seems like an irresponsible, dumb move by the front office to allow him to play. There’s always risk of re-injury or further injury so it baffles me they’re even considering this. Then again, maybe they’re not and it’s just theatrics to satisfy their fans.

My exact thoughts concerning Dalvin Cook last week.

However, Washington owners may have a ray of hope yet. Roto is reporting that Jacobs is no lock to play this week, despite the "positive" news concerning his shoulder. After all, I am assuming that it is still "fractured".

Hadn’t seen that. Certainly sounds less optimistic than some other reports.

He definitely still has a fractured shoulder and as far as I know there’s always a risk of further injuring a fracture, so I really don’t see the logic in continuing to play him and risk his health for next year.

While Josh Jacobs returned to work Wednesday, his status for Sunday's game is still unclear

Headed into Week 15, the biggest question surrounding the Oakland Raiders revolves around the status of their rookie running back, Josh Jacobs.

After missing Sunday’s 42-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans, Jacobs returned to work – albeit in a limited capacity – at the team’s Wednesday walkthrough, and while his status for Sunday’s home finale against the Jacksonville Jaguars is still unclear, Head Coach Jon Gruden was happy to have the stud rookie back in the mix.

“I’m glad the reports say that,” Gruden said when asked about reports stating that the MRI on Jacobs’ shoulder showed positive results. “I wasn’t totally aware of all the facts, but I do know that Rod Martin has cleared him to practice, and we’ll see what happens in the next couple days. It doesn’t mean he’s going to play, but I’m glad the reports are positive.”

Since the Silver and Black only held a walkthrough Wednesday afternoon, a more accurate gauge of where Jacobs is health-wise will come later in the week when the team holds full practices.

“I just listen to the medical staff and Josh, and today he’s made some improvement but he still has to go out there and move explosively tomorrow, Friday, and do the things that a running back has to do to play in this league and protect himself in this league,” Gruden said. “We’ll see what happens in the next 48 hours.”

If Jacobs isn’t able to give it a go Sunday, it would stand to reason that once again DeAndré Washington and Jalen Richard would handle the bulk of the rushing responsibilities for the Silver and Black.

The team also signed veteran running back Rod Smith earlier in the week. Originally signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2015, Smith has 52 NFL games under his belt, and most recently spent time with the Tennessee Titans earlier this year.

Through 12 games, Jacobs has carried the ball 218 times, totaling 1,061 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named Rookie of the Month for both October and November.

Speaking after Thursday's practice, Raiders OC Greg Olson said Josh Jacobs (shoulder) "looked great."

Jacobs remained "officially" limited, but it is looking increasingly likely that his absence will not extend beyond one game. Facing one of the league's worst run defenses for what is sure to be an emotional final NFL game in the city of Oakland, Jacobs comes with monster upside for the fantasy semifinals.

Game Time Decision. Jacobs just admitted it in a tweet

Everytime you suit up there’s risk. Ima roll the dice 😂🤷🏽‍♂️ Well, if they let me

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms Josh Jacobs (questionable, shoulder) is "good to go" for Week 15 against the Jaguars.

After missing the previous week with a fractured shoulder, Jacobs will be on hand for the Raiders' home finale (their final game in Oakland ahead of next year's move to Las Vegas) Sunday versus Jacksonville. Jacobs returns to a glorious matchup against a Jags run defense that has yielded 100-yard rushing performances to Carlos Hyde, Jonathan Williams, Marlon Mack, Derrick Henry and Austin Ekeler over their current five-game losing streak. Even at less than full strength, Jacobs belongs in all lineups as a surefire RB1. DeAndre Washington will be relegated to a supporting role after carrying the load in last week's loss to Tennessee.

Coach Jon Gruden said there's a chance that Josh Jacobs (shoulder) plays Week 17 against the Broncos.

The Raiders are technically still alive in the playoff hunt, but they need both a win as well as an absurd amount of help. DeAndre Washington has worked as the offense's featured back with Jacobs sidelined. Jalen Richard is the offense's pass-down RB regardless of who is receiving the chunk of early-down work. The matchup isn't particularly appealing against the league's 10th-best defense in fewest PPR per game allowed to opposing RBs.

Josh Jacobs (shoulder) participated in Tuesday's walk-through.

Coach Jon Gruden has said there's a chance Jacobs suits up for the finale. The excellent rookie has already eclipsed 1,000 yards on the season, so that will not be a motivation to get him out on the field. The Raiders are technically still alive for the AFC's final playoff spot, but they would need a ton to go in their favor on Sunday. Jacobs' status will be updated in the next 48 hours.

Josh Jacobs posted on social media that his procedure "went great" and was the "fastest surgery ever."

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that, "The early word on Jacobs is that the procedure he had last night should not affect his status for Sunday. That is the hope. Expect to get some clarity today." Jacobs was already dealing with a shoulder injury, so it's unclear if this is an entirely new issue or related to the existing problem. The Raiders have a chance to make the playoffs with a win and some help, meaning Jacobs and company will likely do everything possible to get him on the field come Sunday. DeAndre Washington will continue to work as the offense's lead back if Jacobs remains sidelined.

Josh Jacobs posted on social media Thursday that his surprise Wednesday operation was to clear up an infection.

Hardly ideal for Jacobs, but it does not appear the surgery will affect Jacobs' status for Sunday's finale against the Broncos. The greater concern remains his balky shoulder. Even with the Raiders having a remote shot at reaching the playoffs, the smart money is probably on Jacobs sitting.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Raiders RB Josh Jacobs (shoulder, skin infection) is not expected to play in Week 17 against the Broncos.

Jacobs underwent a procedure on Wednesday night to clear up a "superficial skin infection" that wasn't expected to impact his availability on Sunday, but now it's looking like the stud rookie RB will be sidelined. Either way, he's clearly not close to 100 percent ahead of this far-from-ideal matchup at Mile High. DeAndre Washington would be a strong candidate for DFS cash lineups if Jacobs is ultimately ruled out before game time.

Josh Jacobs (shoulder) is officially out for Week 17 against the Broncos.

DeAndre Washington will draw another start as a plug-and-play RB2 in a must-win game for Oakland. Jacobs' rookie season will end with 1,150 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on 242 carries (4.8 YPC). PFF grading has Jacobs as the league-leader in elusive rating and top five in yards after contact per attempt. The Offensive Rookie of the Year candidate was one of the best pure runners in the NFL in 2019, but his fantasy lines were game-script dependent. Jacobs only caught 20 passes for 166 scoreless receiving yards, numbers that must increase in 2020 in order to make the next jump in fantasy ranks. Jacobs did show pass-catching potential at Alabama, so hopefully Gruden will give him more receiving opportunities next year.

In speaking with ESPN's Matthew Berry, Raiders GM Mike Mayock said he expects Josh Jacobs to be heavily involved in the passing game next season.

Mayock referred to it as "Phase 2" for the 22-year-old in his sophomore follow-up. Any involvement as a receiver out of the backfield would be considered an upgrade as Jacobs saw just 27 total targets (2.1 per game) last year, which ranked 42nd-overall at his position. Las Vegas also conspicuously re-signed Jalen Richard to a two-year deal in February, but DeAndre Washington's trip to the open market at the very least makes this backfield a two-man show. Expect Jacobs to open the season as an every-down option.

They emerged last year. I think Jacobs has a legit shot at Top 5 numbers this years.
Dear God, that must be PFF. Their fantasy coverage since Mike Clay left is abominable.

Jacobs was on both of my main fantasy teams last year, one standard and one PPR. He was a great RB2 in standard, a good one in PPR. Couldn't ask for more but PPR catches.

He's now considered worth more than 1.01 in dynasty.

I actually think this article highlights the problem.

They resigned Richard.  He had 60 something receptions in 2018.  He ate 36 last year, which is obviously a huge drop--but the fact that they resigned him isn't insignificant.

They drafted Bowden.  Bowden played WR primarily at Kentucky before injuries forced him into the starting QB role.  Even at QB, he was a glorified RB taking the snaps.  I suspect with his pass catching skills, they're going to look to get Bowden into open space.

Between the 2 guys, I worry that his receiving upside is capped right now.  Which is a shame if so.  He's explosive catching the ball.  Definitely a situation to monitor.
