They were recording this song in the studio when the rest of the band got the call the Brian Jones had drowned.Round 214.xx
Category: Stevie Wonder Radio
Song: I Don't Know Why (AKA Don't Know Why I Love You)
Artist: The Rolling Stones
I don't why I'd pick a cover version of an artist that needs no covers done by the Stones, but this sort of jumped out at me in the covers thread of Stevie Wonder over at the Steve Hoffman boards. It's well done.
check this lp out kristaThis might pose a challenge on my Beatles theme.

This is the one song of his I like.I love The Bridge I have my own playlist that's 28 hours long, lol, nice to have an additional alternative so let me throw one more in before it closes up shop. Incredible no Cat has been drafted yet, an amazing songwriter and a perfect 70's vibe for this playlist...
Pick 200something AM - The Bridge - Wild World -Yusuf/Cat Stevens

Hang in there Cole. The vet's office called me this morning to tell me that they got back a portion of Cole's tests, and it was normal, but the blood for the other portion went bad, and so they need to redraw his blood. He ate three bites this morning, and so I have to wait until 4:30 to bring him in to get his blood drawn, because he has to fast for 8 hours. I told her Cole is withering away, and we are no closer to find out what is wrong. A month 1/2 this has been going on. She said his test should come back faster now that the lab is back on track. If it comes back normal, all this waiting is for nothing, when we could have been checking out other things. The vet wants to wait to see what it says before moving on to other tests. I am so exasperated, and my mood is awful. Beware.
Yikes. Terrifying.Raging weasel said:Thought I was going to see or even be a part of a giant fireball of death. I went out to the parking lot for a smoke while my paint was drying and heard the loud thud of a car crash. I turned around to look and saw a minivan speeding thru the lot of the gas station next door and then slamming into a bank of pumps Luckily it hit the concrete post at the end and not the pumps themselves so no fire or explosion but it gave me a good scare. I was about 100 feet from the impact so could have been injured in a blast. There were 2 other cars and at least 8 people within 10 feet of the pumps that couldve been blown to bits.

There’s not an appropriate reaction available for that post. We need a Holy #### reactionRaging weasel said:Thought I was going to see or even be a part of a giant fireball of death. 215.XX: SIMON & GARFUNKEL - THE SOUND OF SILENCE (electric version)
LInk
Looked like it. The four people in the van all got out pretty quickly and seemed to be walking ok.Everybody alright?
never heard this before. Not bad!
Yeah. When I texted my wife the story I used 3 of the poop emojis. This was at the Speedway at 375 and Jefferson. All the traffic only goes the opposite direction from where the van came from so no idea HTF it happened. There’s not an appropriate reaction available for that post. We need a Holy #### reaction
wtf? I thought searched the spreadsheet this am.Taken for The Bridge in round 74.
Glad everybody and you are ok - now I can crack jokes.Yeah. When I texted my wife the story I used 3 of the poop emojis. This was at the Speedway at 375 and Jefferson. All the traffic only goes the opposite direction from where the van came from so no idea HTF it happened.
It's listed as "The Sounds of Silence." That might have thrown it off. Sounds of Silence was the album, "The Sound of Silence" is the name of the song, best I can suss out.wtf? I thought searched the spreadsheet this am.
Or that.Nevermind - I see what I did. Searched for Simon and, and that one was listed under Simon &
Did he take the softer version for The Bridge? It's listed as "The Sounds of Silence." That might have thrown it off. Sounds of Silence was the album, "The Sound of Silence" is the name of the song, best I can suss out.
This came on the radio while I was out running errands and true to the category, made me feel so happy. And these guys have only been drafted as a bonus selection...
211.NV - Mr. Brightside - The Killers - Don't Worry Be Happy
Almost picked Screeching Weasel's cover of this during the covers portion of our program. Clocking in at a whole thirty-three seconds, Ben Weasel encapsulates Del's anguish in condensed punk rock form.215.NV - Runaway - Del Shannon - 60s on 6
I'd agree with this. Somehow it held up through the years. I've played it so much that I prefer others off of the album. The opening strains are instantly recognizable, but so is Franz, The Strokes, and others. I think this one had the most crossover appeal because of the lyrical twists involved. Also made me think, is this the most enduring "rock" song of the 00s?
Very much in play with 7 Nation Army. Michigan plays the song every football game and the student section sings a long. They cut the music for the chorus and the whole student section keeps going. It’s pretty cool, especially considering the song is older than many of the kids. This came on the radio while I was out running errands and true to the category, made me feel so happy.
Also made me think, is this the most enduring "rock" song of the 00s? I think it certainly would be in the UK where it still charts every year and is the standard end of night song at pubs, etc.. but maybe in North America too? I feel like it ended up way more mainstream than all the big Strokes, Franz, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys etc... Others that I thought of are Seven Nation Army, Float On, Yellow and the two big MGMT singles, but I'm not sure they still get as much widespread play as Mr. Brightside does these days.
