Genrepalooza Presents: FG Radio - Tons of Lithium but very little Chill (4 Viewers)

Seems to be a daily thing where I think of a great song for a category like Autumn, and @Raging weasel already took it earlier for another category.   Was going Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground here, but I guess I will switch gears and go...

FALLING LEAVES

Dead Leaves... and 2 others already drafted were the first songs I thought of for Autumn.

Oh yeah I drafted that in the middle of the night when I had a bout of insomnia...not sure why lol
Summer is my least favorite season. Heat, mosquitoes, ticks, poison ivy, last too long, etc. Yuck. Fall is my favorite, and winter and spring are about a tie. Our winters are pretty mild. I like wearing winter clothes and boots. The springs here always seem so short. Last year was the longest spring weather here in a long time.

Where do you live again? I love all the seasons but winter is too long. If it was just Dec-Jan I would be in. It’s Feb and March that really drag and depress.

Yup.  My favorite weather is jeans and t-shrit weather.  60-70s.   It seems like we have that for about 60 days max as it's usually butt cold and snowing by Halloween and in the spring it goes from 50 to 85.  Definitely not a even mix of the 4 seasons.

Yeah it seems we've been getting 4 months+ of winter and only 4-5 weeks of spring the last few years.

223.k4  The Beatles - Norwegian Wood  (Falling Leaves)

I'm going with the rockaction/krista4-approved version of the seasonal channels by taking not something that mentions autumn but something that feels autumnal.  Not only do I think the song feels like the season, but the book by my favorite author, Haruki Murakami, contains significant woods/leaves/autumn imagery.  Many of the key parts of the book occur in the fall, including the very beginning where the second sentence of it refers to the "cold November rains."  So there you go.  Fall.

223.8 or 12 - k.d. lang - Fallen  (Autumn)

Dipping into the Ron Sexsmith songbook for the second straight day. This time it's a cover by k.d. lang from her Hymns of the 49th Parallel where she performs songs written by Canadian songwriters.

The leaves have lost hold of the branches as always
Which leaves us with gold and wine colored pathways
In the same way I've
The same way I've fallen for you

Like a star in the night
Baby I've fallen for you

I feel like I need to pick from Fall or Canada otherwise the Globalization 2.0 is just going to be my playlist of songs I already like.

Ilov80s said:
Good good. I think half the playlist will be from me unless we get more participation
I don't know anything about global music. Spent about an hour listening to different Japanese bands but didn't find anything I really liked. I could draft Swedish or German metal stuff but that would just Jack up the playlist.

Couldn't find any fall type music so just going to stay in Canada today.

I thought about this one yesterday, but am stockpiling my Big Star for Poptopia and Hall of Very Good.
I added it to my list too, during my frantic search for a Neil song about fall that wasn't Harvest Moon.

@Eephus I'm getting a "not found" message when I try to access the Synth Smorg playlist either by the link in this thread or through Spotify itself. Any idea what's going on there?

In an attempt to bridge two of today's playlists, I have selected a second song for Falling Leaves written and performed by a Canadian.

Round 224:

Falling Leaves

Urge for Going -- Joni Mitchell

Now the warriors of winter they gave a cold triumphant shout
And all that stays is dying and all that lives is getting out
See the geese in chevron flight flapping and racing on before the snow
They've got the urge for going and they've got the wings so they can go
