wtf. I don't check in for a  week and this happens?

You are very dear to me, my friend and I treasure our friendship. I am in shock. If any of my friends was invincible, I'd figure it was you. I'll keep you in my heart. It might be kind of dark, but its very warm. You want some company? Wife and I were just talking about a roadtrip to St. Louis (okay, I'm lying at this point)> and I'd love to point the cosmobile in your direction. Let's talk when you're up for it.

Thanks my brother. Love you too.

I appreciate the offer but headed to the lake.  We can talk tonight if you want.

Get back to us on what it’s like to get shaved down there.  I mean, I know it’s on your neck but I figure you’re going to insist on getting shaved regardless.  Best of luck, sir.

I'm not sure why I would need to shave down there.  Heck, I didn't even have to take my shorts or shoes off for the port.

Which reminds me....

Port surgeon was super cute.  Add in the fact she's smart enough to be a surgeon and

I noticed she was wearing a Kelly green apron, smock, whatever, which I noticed as Ive only seen blue in the past. She commented she like the color of my sneakers which are olive green. I told her "I do too, they match my eyes".   She laughs, looks at the anesthesiologist and says "I guess he has gotten his first shot?"  Anesthesiologist replies I haven't received anything yet.  Now surgeon is dying laughing as she's observing the #### eating grin on my face and orders some immediate fentanyl injected into me.

Great news, Dotatate scan didn't show cancer anywhere else in my body so it's localized in my neck.

Had the port put in yesterday.  Mrs. SLB wasn't allowed to come back for prep.  I texted her that the cute nurse offered me oral as a way to calm my nerves but I told her I was married.  Mrs. SLB texted back immediately "you should have taken her up on it".  Too bad the offer was fictitious.

Will be having what was described as a "thorough" surgery the week of 6/14.   The cancer is still spreading and the goal is to remove as much of it as possible along with every node in my neck.

After that will receive treatment of some sort but they still aren't positive what kind because nobody knows (NOBODY KNOWS!!!) what kind of cancer it is yet. I'm very fortunate to have 4 world class specialists in the field collaborating to help me.

The tumor specialist told me this morning that they are still receiving inconclusive test results and more pathology departments are requesting a sample to test molecularly.  He's a straight forward kind of guy but smirked and told me "there are SO MANY people interested in you. You're causing quite the stir!"

Thanks again to everyone for the well wishes, positive vibes, thoughts and prayers!
Big week. Cancer going to get a big kick in the ### this week.

You got this, GBSLB!

I’ve always been an SLB admirer from afar.  May you tap into vast amounts of strength and courage and be humble enough to accept the many offers of help you will receive.

Had not seen this thread and just got caught up. You got this.  You and your surgeons will be in my thoughts and prayers throughout the day today.

Dayum!  That is one heck of a gash. You should start thinking about all the tall tales you can tell about how you got the scar. In the meantime, here’s to quick healing and recuperation!
