Obviously, I chose these specific players for a reason - they are all off week 14. Does that change your decision at all?
Who are your other RBs?

Iteration version 48, changed from "Volume" build to select Quality/Elite efforts...

QB - Justin Herbert - LAC/8 - $23

TD - San Francisco 49ers - SF/9 - $4
TD - Detroit Lions - DET/6 - $3
That running back group would scare the hell out of me. Only 4 RBs…and those particular 4 RBs? High risk.
I like the high risk approach. All those guys could hit and if they do, the rest of the roster is relatively strong.

I'm sorry to say, but I am not going to have the time to put together the updated scoring sheets this year. I have too much going on with kids activities this year.

It's quite alright, and a huge thanx for all you did last year! You are a hero.

After I remove all the players on both rosters, here is what we are left with. I did not check for bye conflicts, or see how well the overall rosters meshed, because I think you have that down pat. It's not a complete runaway, but I prefer Team A. Conveniently, the 2 RB choices and 1 WR choice have the same byes. What are your thoughts?

Love your breakdowns as always!
That's interesting to see when you do that. Bye weeks I'm starting to become more conscious of but I wonder if I'm being too conscious of it. B has better RB's, A has better WR and TE. With all this (too much) hype over Gabe Davis I thought I'd see what the roster looked like with him in it. Stevenson kinda makes or breaks my team in option A. Hmmm...

B has better RB's
You sure about that? I would tend to agree, in real life, but what about for this contest, this year? Just making you think, hehe
P.S. Go check out the preseason player projections offered up by Bloom and Wood, the only 2 FBG'ers who have adjusted their numbers in the last 24 hours.

Both have minor concern on Week 9 Byes. I like Team B RB slightly better, but I like Team A WR corp. But the key is Team A TE is a clear superior setup.

I’ve been reluctant to post anything in here but who are we kidding? Would appreciate insights. Like others, my main question at this specific moment is whether I have too many week 14 byes. I really like all of the players here with that bye week.

One thing that stick out is you have both Penny and Walker, I would stick with one and get a different RB with the remainder. Same with Hilliard/Haskins, yes I see your trying to hedge your bets, but this is the ultimate shoot your shot contest, I would rather have differing shots in the dark, even if they wind up the wrong ones. And I would defo add a 3rd Def if I got some savings back from the RB's. Just my 2c..

That’s the thing with the thing with the Seattle backs imo. I fully expect penny to do very well the first half, then Walker the second half. This is less hedging (although there’s some of that) and more trying to get RB1 production at different times. 🤷

And I can see your point, but that's alot of $$ tied up in hoping for one to essentially fail. For $29 (or less) you could have RB1 production with one consistent player and maybe add another lotto ticket as well.

We were talking about this earlier in the thread and worked out that way less than 1% of the entries will even read this thread. We shouldn't really be afraid to post about it.

That’s a fair point. I had dropped Conner.

It’s probably my over cautious approach but there’s a lot of risk with only taking two QBs. Two TEs too. Just my opinion of course.

Plan B looks better to me. Week 9 is a bit scary but that should be common

ETA. Reason I prefer B, like the RB and TE groups better especially Chubb. ARob is the guy from team A I like much more than Gabriel Davis but had to make a choice.

For sure. I have spent a lot of hours thinking about week 9 this year haha.
It's a nightmare, but also going to be a nightmare for everyone. I think as long as you're a bit cautious and not like having your 2 best players on bye that week or both your stud rbs on bye that week, then you'll be ahead of the average person who enters. Week 9 gonna destroy a lot of good teams this year who don't even look at it.

It’s probably my over cautious approach but there’s a lot of risk with only taking two QBs. Two TEs too. Just my opinion of course.
I would agree 2 QB's comes with risk, but only if your QB's may get benched for suckage. For example, if I roster Josh Allen and Justin Herbert, there is no possible way I am rostering a scrub like Davis Mills, just in case. But if I opt for Aaron Rodgers and Baker Mayfield, then Davis Mills is warranted. Also remember, you can only start 1 QB, but you can start up to 3 TE's, so 2 QB's vs 2 TE's is apples and oranges.

The apples are the studs, and the oranges are the scrubs

It's not just getting benched for suckage. Injuries happen. You are playing with fire going with 2. My plan right now is Pickett as my third QB, so it's possible that I'm going with 2 as well if Mitch plays well. :P

I've written about it before and for years I thought 2 QB was just fine. Then in 2019 I only rostered Brees and Ljax. Ljax had his MVP year and counted nearly every week but his bye was coming up in like week 8 or 9. That was the year Brees got hurt early and I literally was crapping bricks until Brees got cleared on the Thursday of Ljax's bye. I was just able to survive that cut line that week with Brees but without him I would have gotten bounced. All it takes is 1 freak injury and an ill timed bye to see your season die in this contest. Ever since I have had 3 QB's. Just my 2c..

Well ya in theory 3 is best for sure. But you're weakening your weekly top QBs then.
I think there's always some risk/reward balance in this thing and you kinda gotta nail it almost perfectly to win the thing. The way I see it, if you lose your starter to injury, you're done anyways. You make the same getting kicked out week 2 as week 12

Injuries to QB's that cause missed games are alot more rare than you think, especially pocket passers.

So here is a more Hero approach - only 20 players. Thoughts?

- My first thought after looking over the roster was, if I was going to carry only 4 WR's, I want them to be possession receivers more then boom/bust types, and would certainly not have any bye conflicts.

With a slim 20 person rooster, you dedicated 9 players for 3 starting spots QB K D. But only 11 players to fill 7 spots 2RB 2WR TE and 2Flex.

Think your team would be stronger by moving 8-11 dollars from QB and D to upgrade a lower tier player up to a stud. Or add more low cost depth at RB WR TE

One thing I really like is your bye week distribution especially week 9 which is a tough one

I fixed my K issue (2 on the same BYE) and I believe I'm done tinkering. I like my rooster.

I'll post when the contest locks, so as to not jinx it.

Way behind on everything this year - so I finally got a chance to peek at the contest and wow @Joe Bryant the new contest page set up is aces! Really looks and feels first rate. Had to take a moment to say so after entering my first Rooster (which of course is terrible and has way too many bye conflicts.

Thanks again :)

Welcome back, QG :bye:

Thanks for the comments. Back to a more even distro. Although the two RB with week 6 byes leaves me a little vulnerable. Cook and Emunds go head to head that week, so Robinson would have to be relevant by then and hopefully a WR or TE would hit for the flex.

this is a fair point, I just remember a couple years ago getting booted because my only remaining QB was on a bye. I don’t remember if I had lost a Qb for the season or a couple weeks but that stung. Most likely wouldn’t have ended in the money anyway but still.
