Any good Hotel deals going on mid-march? Airfare is dirt cheap now with the low cost of oil, much cheaper then it was last year.
The prices for the flights are ok, but the times are weak. Lots of return trips leaving Vegas at 11pm and arriving home at 5:20am...ugh.
I just checked Kayak for opening round NCAA weekend and the cheapest flight I could find Orlando to Vegas was $386 round trip Thu-Sun. I wouldn't call that dirt cheap.
RT from NYC was 305.11 + 44.09 (taxes)I tried to find rates from last year or the year before and I couldn't but I believe it was more like 450+

Staying at the Signature for the UFC 94/Super Bowl weekend. Have heard generally positive reviews. Has anyone stayed there here? Booked through work for under $200 a night.

Going to Vegas next week, have a choice of a few comped rooms, which would you suggest?

Caesars, NY/NY, Rio, Ballys, Mandalay Bay

Looking to play mostly Blackjack and Poker

Stayed there for the LV Marathon in Dec 07. It's a very nice property: big rooms, great bathroom, kitchenette. It's a long hike to the strip, although if you're going to the fight, you'll be closer to the Grand Garden Arena than some of the rooms in the MGM.The public areas are quiet for Vegas. If you're looking for a party vibe, you'll have to go elsewhere but it's Vegas, so you're never that far away. I'd definitely stay there again.

As mentioned before, I will be in Vegas for the Super Bowl.

Any suggestions on where a good place to watch would be?

Looking for a moderate price place in Vegas for some steak....Don't want to pay $150 for a steak, but also don't want the $3 steak special.

Maybe something in the $50 range....

Any places that have good food that won't kill my budget?

All the places out there have parties with free food/coctail, remote betting locations, cheerleaders, etc.Do you have a players card anywhere?

$50 is a tough price range for steak in Las Vegas. The Steakhouse at Circus Circus serves a pretty good piece of meat with some marginal sides for about $50. The atmosphere is old school steak house (dark w/ red leather booths and a big exposed grill in the center of the room) but the walk through the Circus Circus casino and lobby is a surreal experience. You may have to look off-strip or downtown.

I believe I have ones for the Hard Rock and MGM, but I am not a big gambler. I usually gamble just a few hundred (3-5) on each trip max. I have been going to Vegas more for business than vactions recently.

Whats the matter with the Outback thats on the strip over by Harrahs? Not exactly a unique steakhouse experiance, but the food is good.

I've always enjoyed Hugos at the 4 Queens.http://www.hugoscellar.com/
Some of the nicer places in Vegas aren't much more than $50. Try SW at Wynn or Kokomo's at Mirage.

Mandalay Bay w/o question
Interesting, I probably woulda said Caesar's, for the location. Not sure which poker room is better.Mandalay is nicer, that's for sure.
Mandalay has nicer rooms and a much nicer pool. Ceasars has a nicer location and a much better poker room. Just depends on what you're looking for.

True Mandalay does not have many poker games going on, at least when I stayed there.

I got bent over, but not to that degree. Flights to Vegas from Milwaukee for March Madness were showing up at $150 round trip, even as late as December 20. Couldn't book at that time due to my wife's uncertain work schedule. Waiting until January to book proved quite costly, to the tune of an extra Benjamin apiece. Eh, I'll win it all back at the Sportsbook anyway

I've heard nothing but good things about the steak served at Circus Circus.I never make it that far, because on the way I see the sign for a footlong hotdog with heineken combo for $1.99.

Right, that's why I was gonna say Caesar's. Much better location, and I figured the poker roo would be more active. Plus, he can actually walk to Bellagio, Mirage, etc. He's gonna be in town next week, the pool really won't matter, it's closed till April.

Yes, definitely Caesars then. Mandalay's poker room only has 8-10 tables and it's rarely full. Caesars has like 50 and it's usually pretty busy. If you do end up at Mandalay for whatever reason, ask about a upgrade to The Hotel. Got upgraded for $20 a night last time, to a standard suite with a living room, whirlpool, etc.

I believe I have ones for the Hard Rock and MGM, but I am not a big gambler. I usually gamble just a few hundred (3-5) on each trip max. I have been going to Vegas more for business than vactions recently.
Doesn't matter.Call up VIP services at any of the MGM hotels (Bellagio, MGM, Mirage, NY NY). Give your card number and ask if there are any SuperBowl parties that will be going on that you can attend.I guarantee you will get on the list of at least one of the hotels.

I'll be out there the week before as well and staying at theHotel. Maybe I'll just ask someone there.

Going to Vegas in early March to see a couple of friends from the east coast. They're staying at Caesars, ~ $175 a night. Right across the street, Imperial Palace is $67 a night.

Is IP really that bad?

Yeah, it really is kind of awful. If you are seeing friends and don't plan to spend any real time there, it might be okay. I'd try Flamingo, just a couple hundred yards up the street and much better place for probably just a tad more cash.

It's ok but the location is great. I spend most of the time at the Hilton sports book or down the street at one of the piano bars with good beer prices anyway. Caesars is nice, but you can stay at the IP and walk a few blocks to Caesars and drop the $100 a night you save at the craps table. :mellow:Also the Flamingo is double the cost of the IP and not twice as good IMO.

Some of these places in Vegas are really disgusting, I stayed on the 1st floor of the Trop once for 1 night for about that price you quoted for IP and I did not feel safe, the in-room safe did not work, the sliding glass door that went out to the street seemed sketchy, even the lack of security in the hotel itself made me carry all of my money on me rather then hide it in my room.

Checkout Flamingo or MGM if you want an in-between.

Yeah, it's not that bad, if you want to save a buck or two. Good location actually, and if you're buddies are at Caesar's, you're as close as you can get. Plus, O'Shea's is right there, which is genius. And how much time do you really spend in the room?Back in the day, IP used to have hot waitresses but it's been quite awhile since I've been there...

Total Rewards can get you some decent deals on rooms at Harrah's properties. I just booked Flamingo for SAT-SUN-MON-TUES-WED nights in May for $55 total.

This is Mandalay's SB invitation:
Congratulations. You've scored complimentary accommodations and tickets to the best football party on the strip.Come February 1, 2009, not all the action will be in Tampa. Join us here in Vegas for Bowl Bash, a VIPs-only bash to be held at Mandalay Bay. You'll be treated to traditional tailgate-party food and beverages, as well as comfortable seating on the Events Center floor. So no matter what happens after the kickoff, you're sure to hear the roar of a real crowd.

Is Wynn Encore completely separate from Wynn? i.e. Separate casino, restaurants etc? I have friends who are staying at the Wynn but I'd like to check out Encore.

If I stay there, am I "invited", or is this different? A quick check shows a room there for $250 total for a two-night stay (Sat/Sun).

Yeah seperate from what I understand has it's own casino and everything.

Anybody ever stay at the Polo Towers?

A buddy has a great deal on this place, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. It has no casino, which isn't a huge deal really, because we probably wouldn't gamble much there anyway...besides, it's in the heart of the strip (next to MGM, towards Bally's). Rooms are supposed to be pretty nice and bigger than most. Pool doesn't sound that great, though...

Seems like a lot of timesharers, so not many girls? Although some of the reviews I've read indicate "good for singles" or whatever they say, but I doubt that.

Also, wandering where to watch the big game...thinking Mandalay. Caesar's?

good for singles usually means dump, i.e. couples didn't enjoy their stay there.I thought they tore that down or at least had constant construction going on

Get in line for the Paris buffet at 10:15 for breakfast price (~$15), stay for the lunch food.

MMMmm... prime rib and crab legs. :lmao:

If you can manage to get into the Sportsbook at the Palazzo More like a giant living room then a Sportsbook. It's not ideal for multiple games but would be great for the SB.

Yeah, it can't be good for singles, you're right. But your other perception does not jibe with many recent reviews, which are almost all, actually quite good. Construction must be done, service keeps getting excellent reviews, and believe it or not, rooms and lobby are supposed be nice (and big). Cabanas by the pool, etc. I was surprised. For free (basically), I don't have a problem with it -- especially with it being in the heart of the strip, which is important. All it is, is a place where I can sleep (when/if that happens). And big rooms are great for pre-party, or after...I'm actually trying to sell my friends on Mandalay, but it won't be a big deal whatsoever if we end up here...

I'm going to be at the Mirage on business next Wednesday - Saturday. My Vegas pants are getting happy.

Good info, thanks. Hard Rock's too small. Mandalay might be too massive, come to think about it. I want the best viewing spot to watch every play...

Some of the waitresses are still hot IMO. I'm going for business in April and we have a per diem cap and staying at the IP ends up meaning I'll pocket an extra $30 or $40 a night at minimum so I don't mind. Rooms are clean (although I wouldn't walk barefoot on the carpet but I can say that about 95 percent of hotels) and it's close to everything. My conference is at the Hilton and I go to two 1.5 hour seminars and spend the rest of the time waiting for the suckers I go with who actually go to every single optional seminar....in the sports book betting NHL playoff games, horses, and some baseball. IP sportsbook is horrible but I'll tell you that if you go there you will see what sports gambling junkies gone bad look like. There are these three guys in there every night who look like they are an over/under away from being homeless. Good stuff. I do like the bar they have in the sportsbook there though, lots of TVs, cheap imports, and a bunch of trashy chicks looking to score.

If I ever go on vacation to Vegas, I'd use my reward points and stay somewhere nice where I had a pool, nice gambling rooms, good sports book etc. I think I'd probably stay at Caesars because outside the Hilton I think their sports book is the best. I could get a discount and stay at the Hilton for my trip but it's too far from the strip. I like to get smashed and barely make it back to my room and I don't like being nailed down to one place.

Good thread though, I'll have to try some of these food places.
