Yeah I'm supremely tired of hearing his same schtick prerehearsed garbage comments."We take responsibility for our play today. It starts with me. It was not acceptable. We'll get to work to correct it."
Rinse, repeat.

I don't think he should go but poor coaching decisions contributed to many of those losses (including both Baltimore losses, Seattle and NE). He was out coached in all.Huh?
Let me rephrase - which games lost are you pinning on the Coach?
1. @ NE Hmmm...should you try to argue they're good enough to win in Foxboro
4. BAL (Vick)
7. @ KC (Landry Jones)
8. CIN (Big Ben 3 INT)
12. @ SEA (538 yards, 4 INT)
16. @ BAL (2 INT)
Yeah, he should stop turning the ball over.
Roughly half the NFL would give their coach for him easily.I'd gladly give up McCarthy for him.
Packers and Steelers fans complaining about their coaches is pretty good schtick. You ####ers have no idea what inept coaching looks like.I don't think he should go but poor coaching decisions contributed to many of those losses (including both Baltimore losses, Seattle and NE). LeBeau's time has come and gone. The problem on defense isn't with the coaching staff, it is the lack of talent in the secondary and yesterday it was poor play from the front-7.Please.
Some Steeler fans tend to over react.
Situation is pretty simple.
They have an insane offense but don't have a defense and they no longer have LeBeau.
Look I agree with you and that's why I said that Tomlin shouldn't go. There are so many bad coaches in the NFL (obviously you have familiarity with bad coaches) that Tomlin isn't even close to one of the worst. He's not a great Xs and Os type of coach but he seems like a good motivator and the players love him. That's enough for me given the state of coaching in the league right now. My only point is that his coaching decisions was as much of a contribution to anything else in at least 3 or 4 losses this year.Packers and Steelers fans complaining about their coaches is pretty good schtick. I get that it's really frustrating losing twice to a bad Ravens team, but Tomlin isn't throwing befuddling interceptions or failing to make key stops.
I would grant their preparation the last two weeks seemed suboptimal. Not really sure how you could not be up for a divisional game. Against the team's fourth QB of the season, should have been able to steamroll Baltimore.
Gift for the Pats. Other playoff QBs are now Weeden, McCarron (or a guy who has never won a playoff game), Osweiler (or a HoF who was playing awful this year), Smith, and Fitz in the playoffs for the first time.
It's not out of the realm of possibility the Bills deny the Jets next week in Buffalo. They beat them in Met Life and they have an awesome rushing attack even without Shady. But never should have had to come down to that.
Yes but given Baltimore's defensive game plan, is it fair to say that the offensive play calling in the 2nd half was bad (to say the least)? They abandoned the run way too early (only down by 3 in the 3rd quarter) when clearly that was the most effective plan of attack against that defense. Ben didn't have it yesterday and they kept having him to try to force things. I get that this is what the Steelers offense is about but sometimes you just have to take what the defense is going to give you.Whenever fans call for a coaches head I always think "OK but who are you going to hire that is better"? Tomlin has his warts, especially in the area of clock-management, but he is a pretty good coach.
Ben and the defense played like crap yesterday -- it is tough to say whether it was lack of preparation or not but it wasn't Tomlin that was throwing picks, missing tackles and not applying pressure on Ryan Mallet.
First half they ran the ball really well, but Baltimore was playing their safeties 20-25 yards off the LOS. I was a bit surprised when they went away from the run they kept trying to take deep shots. Should have had the underneath stuff open.Look I agree with you and that's why I said that Tomlin shouldn't go. Definitely a big NO. Dude is a great coach. They were simply not ready for what Baltimore came up with on defense. Baltimore somehow had a great game plan.A: No.
They never lost Antonio Brown.OP is either very young, or on a post-Super Bowl loss fishing trip (or both), but what they heck...
NO! Tomlin is not going anywhere! Steelers over-performed (IMO) in a year where the defense is in a state of flux, had to dip deep into the QB roster, and lost their #1 weapon on offense.
Cowher wasnt an elite coach? In the word of Bill Lumbergh "Ooooh, Yeah, Ummm, I'm gonna have to go ahead and sorta disagree with you there."Tomlin reminds me a lot of Cowher...too good a coach to realistically replace, but a clear notch below the elite tier of coaches, so often outcoached in critical games.
It has and yesterday was infuriating but his job is still safe and I'm glad that it is.Sleep walking through games they should win easily has become the norm.
Cowher's teams did choke a bunch but it was bad coaching or bad QB play? Pretty hard to rise up in big critical games when Kordell and O'donnel are the best QB's you ever worked with until Ben came. Notice that even rookie year Ben finally got Cowher his Super Bowl and while he played a pretty poor game that day he had a big time game against Denver to get them there in the first place.Tomlin reminds me a lot of Cowher...too good a coach to realistically replace, but a clear notch below the elite tier of coaches, so often outcoached in critical games.
All. The. Time.Does he still run around with his jacket unzipped?
Rookie Ben lost a heart breaker to the Jets. 2nd year Ben got to the SB.Cowher's teams did choke a bunch but it was bad coaching or bad QB play? Actually rookie Ben lost pretty handily to the Patriots in the AFC championship game. They beat the Jets to get to that game but they were fairly lucky to beat the Jets.Rookie Ben lost a heart breaker to the Jets. 2nd year Ben got to the SB.Cowher's teams did choke a bunch but it was bad coaching or bad QB play? Tomlin isn't nearly the coach that Cowher was.Arodin said:Tomlin reminds me a lot of Cowher...too good a coach to realistically replace, but a clear notch below the elite tier of coaches, so often outcoached in critical games.
I agree with the bolded. I also think the last sentence applied to Cowher as well.Tomlin isn't nearly the coach that Cowher was.Arodin said:Tomlin reminds me a lot of Cowher...too good a coach to realistically replace, but a clear notch below the elite tier of coaches, so often outcoached in critical games.
To answer the question posed, no. Tomlin is a good coach, not great, but too much of a crap shoot to replace him with someone as good or better.
Cowher was a great coach. To accomplish what he did with the likes of Kordell, Tomczak, O'Donnell, Maddox at QB was remarkable, and he finally won the big one when Ben was in his 2nd year. People can talk all they want about failures in the AFCC and Super Bowl, but when you're facing the likes of Elway, Aikman, and Brady in those games without anything remotely close to that level, you're up against it no matter how good your defense is or where the game is played.I agree with the bolded. I'd say he's never been the same since "House" went off the air.Da Guru said:Tomlin has never been the same since he tried to trip Jacoby Jones.
Ain't gonna happen with Tomlin, Browns now that is at least plausible.10-6 Steelers get rid of Tomlin
3-13 Browns keep Pettine
Does anything think this could actually happen?
