Pete Carroll says he has no hesitation giving rookie RB Chris Carson ball multiple times Sunday in his 1st NFL game at Green Bay #Seahawks
Carroll also said Lacy would be ready for a full load.

He was always going to be involved, I thought the writing was on the wall weeks ago. I just wonder what it's going to take for him to become fantasy relevant. Is it really possible for him to get 15-20 touches a game some time down the road even if all of Rawls, Lacy and Prosise are healthy?

I still own him in half of my leagues, dropped him in some others. He was pretty much my 13th round pick across the board. I don't know how I feel. I believe in the player but this is quite the ####ty situation.

What are the odds any of Rawls, Lacy and Prosise stay healthy?

Wow!  Multiple times!  So maybe 2 or 3?

The point being Carson needs to be rostered in 12+ team leagues. He's getting meaningful snaps on Sunday and this might be the path he needs to have fantasy value.
There will be at least 75 RBs who will get meaningful snaps this week. That doesn't mean that they all deserve to be rostered.

Don't get me wrong -- I like Carson's potential. But potential + meaningful snaps does not equal an automatic roster spot in a 12-team-league.

Also, how about we tap the brakes a bit on the whole "meaningful snaps" thing? Pete Carroll said "multiple", not "meaningful".

I don't know, I'd love a hard number.

According to sportsinjurypredictor.com, the odds of them getting injured are..

Lacy = 79.3%

Rawls = 54.1%

Prosise = 33.9%

I don't know what algorithm they use or how accurate it is, but let's assume they are accurate for a second..

Chance of all three getting injured = 14.5%

Chance of none getting injured = 6.2%

Chance of at least one getting injured = 93.7%

Chance of exactly one getting injured = 34.7%

That's weird cause Rawls and prosise have been hurt constantly

Damn, have never even heard of this website!

Shady 92.3%, missing 5.3 games. Yikes.

I heard a doctor that talks fantasy football injuries on the radio say that his number one player to avoid this year was Freeman due to the second concussion. So, I did a search on fantasy football injuries and doctors. I found that sportsInjurypredictor site a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was fascinating. Their algorithm is pretty complex. You can find the different factors and how they are weighted on this page: http://sportsinjurypredictor.com/nfl-injury-news/evaluating-our--chance-of-injury--and--games-missed--models/

I think Carson could be a solid pickup, but this backfield is too crowded at the moment and the roles are too undefined. If you have a spot on your roster, what the hell, but I’d rather have guys like Burkhead or J.Williams if they are out there.

Carson has the size, ability, coaches' confidence and positional turmoil around him to be a very valuable stash. I drafted McNichols in dynasty but dropped him for Carson. I'm ready for the ride!!

Being from Oklahoma, I'm familiar with Carson. He's got FF appeal for sure, but you need to be aware of his college career. As a senior, Carson was beaten out by a freshman who wasn't a big recruit. He played well in spot duty, but didn't really shine until the last few games. Carson was a star in junior college, but never put it together at Oklahoma State. That said, he's got some pro intangibles & is already a fan favorite, partly due to his super hero-like physique.

I own him in one of my dynasty leagues, but I'm tempted to move him while he's hot. Carson has some upside, but I keep coming back to the inconsistency. He's also not a late bloomer because Carson has always been physically mature, so you have to wonder how much headroom he's got. That said, Carson could be one of those rare fringe college players who is better as a pro. Not sure what to make of him. His ceiling is probably as a spot player, but you never know.

The similarities to Arian Foster are remarkable

I don't believe Carson is as talented as Foster. His main attraction right now is an unsettled RB situation in a decent offense. I'm also not convinced Carson will get the kind of PT some are expecting, but it's certainly possible. We'll see.

Carson is a hard read, even for someone who is familiar with him. I'm really undecided about what to do with him. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Size is nearly identical coming out.

Carson 40 4.58/ Foster 4.59

Both have good hands and are natural pass catchers.

College career curve is somewhat similar with an underwhelming senior year.

Foster was an UDFA, Carson was about as close as it could get to being one.

Carson runs with more power and physicality. Foster more of a glider.

Without question. I'm not heavily invested so it would be a huge bonus if he pans out. One thing I did notice in looking at his college tape, and it continued this preseason, is his recklessness with his body. He runs with force but occasionally  leaves the ground and returns to it at awkward angles.

That prob fits the description of 1000 players over the last 10 years.

so this guy or Charcandrick West on the wire tonight - short benches?
Your choice is a guy who was barely rostersble 1 year/month/week ago who his coaches wanted to replace repeatedly or the fresh rookie with junk in front of him and the coaches love.

Not to hijack but yeah, the work load has me concerned as a McCoy owner. But when he's in he'll be top 5. Worse, there isn't really a handcuff for insurance.

Yeah but this one guy who did really well also matches ?

Short benches ill take West.  An injury you hunt or poor rookie play could change his value immediately. An injury to Rawls might be more likely but it doesn't increase Carson's value the same way.

Honestly, I was not totally impressed with this guy in the preseason. However, I do think Carroll could give this guy a shot based on his comments so far. And looking at a possible path here, Rawls bum ankle (same ankle?), CJ with third down duties, Lacy a heavy hitter specialist but not a 3 down back, there could be a solid role for Carson. Problem is I don't know how long it will take..

If by "junk in front of him" you're referring to the Seahawks' offensive line, then I'd agree.

As for the RBs, Rawls has looked pretty fantastic when healthy.  Of course you have to go back to 2015 for that.

Why is it always the Seahawk backfield? CMike 2.0?
The Seahawks are a good defensive team that likes to run the ball. There is some predictability in that, although Wilson has looked great and they likely should try to pass the ball more.

I think Carson is the opposite of Michael. Good skill, power and determination while Michael just had athleticism.

Carson isn't as fun to root for though, because he doesn't look shot out of a cannon.

I posted in the Week 1 Waiver Darling thread that I thought Carson was the one to be paying attention to. I see him getting more touches (rush/rec) than Rawls (or Lacy) and doing a heckuva lot more with them in week 1.

So, I put my money where my mouth is. My league has Week 1 waivers and FCFS add/drops. Had Joe Williams end up on IR so I moved him over and picked up Dixon, who I then stashed on IR also, and then grabbed Carson. I may just start him this week. So tempting as I truly believe he'll end up being the back to own in Seattle this year. I know.....cray-cray

FWIW, someone in my league just spent 43% of their blind bid budget on Carson. Dynasty PPR, 12 teams with 22 active, 2 IR, and 4 TS slots.

Probably a good move TBH for dynasty...

Carson is one of few guys who could be on a dynasty WW who could make an impact this year or even next year as a starter.

West is safer, but Carson has homerun potential IMO. Carroll does not care who was signed, where a guy was drafted, etc. (Wilson is proof of that).

Who is the best pass-catching RB in SEA's backfield? That's the buy that plays the most I believe... no more Beastmode offense in SEA.

Depends on league format.  That's the kiss of death in mine where FAAB are rolled over and used in Free Agency the following spring for players with expiring contracts.

for now I think this is still Prosise. problem also is Lockette probably plays into those RB passing down situations in terms of play calling. agree generally with your post, based on last year I just don't think pass catching backs on this team is that big of a deal. my guess is Carson has the direct route to starting on this offense if Lacy/Rawls fall flat on their faces and Prosise continue to be the third down back though.

I wonder if they will switch to the strength of their team though with a healthy Jimmy Graham fully integrated, a rising star WR in Baldwin, and replacing Beastmode has been a bust.

I have picked up Carson in my Keeper and two of my redraft leagues.  I think it is only a matter of time, a very short time, before Carson takes the job.  The other backs on that roster will have to play much better than they did in the preseason and he would have to play worse for it not to happen.

SiriusXM's Adam Caplan thinks Chris Carson will rotate with Eddie Lacy if Thomas Rawls (ankle) does not play against the Packers.

Even after a strong preseason, Carson was always just a stash in hopes of an injury, and, as it turns out, it looks like those hopes will come to fruition in Week 1, with Rawls not expected to play because of an ankle issue. Lacy should start and C.J. Prosise should handle the passing-down work, but Carson could end up getting the most touches if he shows as well as he did in the preseason. Still, he is just a desperation play.

This kid could really be a steal if he gets touches. Eddie Lacy is a bust. Forget about him. Prosise fills another role. To me it comes down between Cason and Rawls and with Rawls injury history there is absolutely a chance Carson plays well and steals the job.

Carson was on the field a lot more than Lacy. He had a 6.5 ypc compared to Lacy’s 0.6 ypc. With Rawls always hurt, Carson can be a real steal on the ww this week.
