Playoff Contest is LIVE (2 Viewers)

Luck seemed like such a mandatory play for this first weekend.  Kind of player that can get you as much as half of what you need to get to week 2.

I think all my Colts touched the ball in the 1st Q.

Went with Ind/Dal Super Bowl figuring to be different.  Also, made it easier than trying to fit in expensive guys on NO/KC/LAR.

Went with Saints/Pats super Bowl. Probably didn't pick enough players but went heavy on QBs in the first round. Banking on Ravens, Colts, Seahawks, Eagles winning the first week.  Hoping the QBs carry my teams.

QB - Drew Brees - 38
QB - Tom Brady - 24
QB - Lamar Jackson - 22
QB - Andrew Luck - 21
QB - Russell Wilson - 14
QB - Nick Foles - 12

TE - Rico Gathers - 2
PK - Wil Lutz - 15

Here's my actual entry.

When I did it the first time I did Rams/Patriots (with not enough players going this weekend)

Then I switched to a Chargers/Rams entry (but I didn't love depending on Foles vs Chicago and Rivers vs Baltimore on that first weekend).

At the last minute I tried to go back and put together a better NE/Rams entry but ran out of time.

I ended up with this:

NO vs BAL  (which is not what I think will happen - but if you saw my predictions thread that's just as well)  I'll have 13 in the Super Bowl if I make it.  It was going to be 14 but I swapped out Crabtree/Allen for John Brown:

QB - Drew Brees - 38
QB - Lamar Jackson - 22
QB - Andrew Luck - 21
QB - Russell Wilson - 14
QB - Taysom Hill - 4
RB - Kenneth Dixon - 11
RB - Gus Edwards - 9
RB - Darren Sproles - 8
RB - Rex Burkhead - 7
RB - Zach Line - 3
WR - Michael Thomas - 28
WR - Josh Reynolds - 10
WR - Sammy Watkins - 10
WR - Anthony Miller - 9
WR - John Brown - 9
WR - Chester Rogers - 3
WR - DeAndre Carter - 3
TE - Mark Andrews - 8
TE - Hayden Hurst - 3
PK - Justin Tucker - 9
TD - New Orleans Saints - 12
TD - Baltimore Ravens - 9

Will post my "non-entries" next for posterity :)

Good luck all!

-QG
Also went Balt/NO, but I'll only have 10 in.

QB - Drew Brees - 38
QB - Mitchell Trubisky - 26
QB - Lamar Jackson - 22
QB - Russell Wilson - 14
RB - Alvin Kamara - 34
RB - Jordan Howard - 14
RB - Kenneth Dixon - 11
RB - Gus Edwards - 9
WR - Michael Thomas - 28
WR - Ted Ginn Jr - 10
WR - Willie Snead IV - 9
WR - Chris Conley - 9
TE - Mark Andrews - 8
PK - Justin Tucker - 9
PK - Sebastian Janikowski - 5
PK - Adam Vinatieri - 4

The problem with this contest is how many people will go only 2 players from like 6-8 different teams making the cutoff scores for round 1 and 2 too high for most teams to advance that want to go with 2 bye week teams in the SB.  That is why someone won this contest the year Den/Car made it with only 6 players.

This contest isn't very fun would rather do round by round for the playoffs and try and make the count.

That really is a major flaw with this contest. Too many people don't understand the rules and that knocks off some very good teams. I'm not sure why FBGs doesn't fix this problem of leaving poor players have such a big impact on who wins.

I think the rules kind of force you to pick WC teams to go all the way.  Do I really expect a Cowboys/Chargers SB?  No, but if it happens, I am golden.

Dang saw that video of Melvin Gordon talking to a Baltimore cab-driver who was talking smack about the Chargers not realizing who he was driving around and now I think I shoulda gone the LAC route for sure

Chalk with KC/NO, although I don’t have enough Saints. Took big risk with just a few players going in first round but so far Indy looking good...

And this was supposed to be the big offensive game this week.

Could be a low cut line which will be an advantage to those who took a lot of bye-week players - if the Super Bowl is chalk may take more of those guys than you normal would expect.

-QG

Ravens Bears SB, was cheap and had enough wc qbs plus brees to make wk2 and wk3...

Also had extra $$$ so threw in a few Eagles just in case upset in wc

Ravens

Jackson qb

Rb Edwards

Rb dixon

Te Andrews

K tucker

Def Ravens

Bears QB, Howard, te Burton, kicker. Defense

Eagles- Qb Foles,  rb Adams, wr Jeffrey, Kicker, defense

Qbs to get me past cutoffs..

Wilson

Luck

Brees

If Ravens lose id need a Colts-Bears/Eagles super bowl

The part in the rules about your top two players from a each team count but in the SB it's everyone.....that threw me off.

What is the ideal strategy to combat that?  Load up on who you think will be in the SB and hope you just skate by the first couple of weeks with players from only a few teams?

pretty much  - it's a game of nerves

that is how I see it - but what do I know

Wouldn't entirely surprise me if in a Ravens Super Bowl that there would be an entry with every single Raven.  $107 gets you them all.

Total value by team:

New Orleans $204

Kansas City $188

LA Rams $154

Chicago $139

New England $133 (This has to be the lowest Patriots total ever)

Houston $130

LA Chargers $127

Indianapolis $112

Baltimore $107

Dallas $107

Seattle $99

Philadelphia $89

Gonna be tough for you to get through with only 6 counting players this week (one of your Ravens won't count)

If Baltimore and Seattle win, you'll have 9 players next week.  And next week is the really rough cut.

Good luck!

Mack and Coutee will be huge for him this week.

Well I got 39.9 out of my 4 players playing today.  I have Wilson and Penny tonight and Foles and Tate tomorrow.  If I can get 50 out of those 4.  I may make it past week 1.

Well, this Cowboys/Seahawks game is major for me, as I have went all in on Dallas.  If they lose, the Chargers must make the SB and score big vs either NO or PHI.

17 players this weekend (10 count), 17-19 next (8 count), possible 17-19 week 3 (8 count), and 13 in the SB.

47.35 between Luck/Mack

also im wondering if wilson/carson + the best 2 chargers and eagles is enough for me to advance past this week.  i would think it should be, no?

Went heavy bears and chiefs

Figured I needed a big play guy to play the first couple weeks besides those teams.

Went Hopkins

:bye:

Depends on what they do but chargers and eagles both face tough Ds. Big scores put up by more than likely highly owned Luck and Mack isn't going to help you.

I went with the stud approach this year. A NO/KC superbowl with $181 on 7 players. Went with only 5 players this weekend.
