I'll list bands/artists I like. To no one's surprise who knows my music tastes (if anyone) that will start with Yes. Will try to list bands with deep catalogues.
Yes - Heart of the Sunrise, Siberian Khatru or Hearts. These are their best-written songs. Honorable mention to Perpetual Change. It Can Happen is my favorite song of all time, though.
Mayer - Why Georgia
Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
MJ - Human Nature or Billie Jean. Not Beat It although it's good.
Van Halen - Jump because of the keyboard solo. Like Beat It, elevated by an EVH solo, just on a different instrument. Runnin With the Devil is also excellent.
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy. Someone posted this before and is a genius for recognizing it.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - The Waiting
Eagles - One of These Nights
Beatles - Yesterday. Don't care that it's just Paul. Runner-up probably Daytripper.
Rolling Stones - Paint it Black, maybe Sympathy for the Devil
Nirvana - Rape Me despite the unfortunate title.
Pearl Jam - Better Man
Billy Joel - Only the Good Die Young or She's Always a Woman
38 Special - Caught Up in You. Someone got this above.
Prince - Little Red Corvette
Sade - Smooth Operator
Dire Straits - has to be Sultans of Swing, a masterpiece, but Money for Nothing is quite the tune. Ladywriter is outstanding.
The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic. I like keyboards in my songs, with bonus points if they're not pretending to be something else.
Sting - All This Time
Peter Gabriel - Steam over Solsbury Hill
Genesis - No Reply At All over Paperlate and Taking It All Too Hard. Yes, I prefer the Collins-led stuff. Lamb would be my favorite Gabriel-sung choice.
REM - Driver 8
Rush - Limelight over Subdivisions. Big fan of Mystic Rhythms too.
King Crimson - Court of the Crimson King
Taylor Swift - Dear John
Florence + the Machine - Spectrum
Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away
Queen - Killer Queen
David Bowie - Changes
