It's difficult to watch, but I just went back to see if I can figure something out. They started CPR pretty quickly and he was completely unresponsive. The camera was on him right before he went down and he went from being fine to looking off very quickly.

Worst thing I've seen in a live sports match. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but I would not be surprised at all if he doesn't survive this. Just sick to my stomach now.

I'm hoping that the cheers were from a part of the crowd who could see over the towels and players, and that he showed some sign of movement.

That's part of a resuscitation and they aren't going to stop that on the field. They needed to get him off the field and into a medical setting. I don't think that offers any kind of better outlook, unfortunately :(

I know in my heart it would have been bad if this was any player, but somehow it hurt just a little bit more when you have a connection.

My wife has a serious heart condition (same condition that Reggie Lewis had) so we immediately thought of that condition that has taken multiple athletes.

Its a pretty tight schedule - and they still need to get the 2nd half in for this game at some point.

So, given the reports of Eriksen being stable in the hospital, I assume Belgium v. Russia goes ahead as scheduled.
