To be fair, it was supposed to be 12 teams with Qatar and Australia joining in as guests, but apparently there’s some sort of virus that’s been going around, trying to get more info.I’m wrong - it’s two groups of 5. 10 teams total

Either way, the schedule would have worked better with 12

The Copa Centenario was awesome. Two of the most fun games I’ve ever attended. Absolute no-brainer for fans, but I suppose two separate tournaments will always be preferred over one.

The three at the back worked pretty well. At least, it kept Hummels away from Mbappe until Germany was pressing late. Just toothless in attack using a frontline of 3 AMs. They may be better off deploying Mueller as the point man to flail around like in the past. Volland is more of the #9, but I thought he just looked awful. Too many players that are too similar to each other.

That’s what I was trying to get - they didn’t have any, said they haven’t sold it for 6-7 years. I tried a couple small shops and struck out. I’m going to call a couple places tomorrow but it may be that Hungary’s team is screwed.

I have no clue what I’m doing. Transfers made!So against impossible odds without knowing what I am doing I am tied for 1st in the FBG Fantasy Contest. However now I have the read the rules more closely made judicious transfers and a captain switch so I am certain to plummet down the table now

Updated tourney record 3-1-1 (+2.40)
Yesterday the expected goal gods were in our favor as Portugal xpg was 3, and alas, they put 3 in when we only needed 2. Sure, they made us wait, but that's the beauty of the soccer sweat. France/Germany game had 1.3 xpg between the two sides, and they got 1 and the under weighed in.
This morning's game is all about finding some value
The bet Russia o 0.5 1h (-110)
When you get into the second and third games of groups, the stories pretty much are laid out in front of you. Finland wins this game, they advance. Russia loses this game, off to Siberia. Finland were thoroughly dominated in game 1, obviously overshadowed by the Eriksen near tragedy and they are still a very offensively challenged team. Their gk stood on his head, including a penalty save. I would expect more the same, and would make the same bet against them in game 1.
Russia's game one result was very unflattering, but when you let up an early one against one of the best teams in the world, it's never going to be good. They absolutely need a result here, and while a draw will give them a lifeline, a win is what is really required and the odds reflect that as they are pretty heavily favored. When you need a win, you don't usually sit back and defend, you want to come out on the front foot and boss the game. Finland I think will be just as happy to defend, so I'm simply wagering on the fact the Russians will be able to sneak one in early, draw a dodgy pen, anything. Longer this game goes without a goal, more difficult it will be. Plus, I really have little to no interest in this game, so I'll only need to pay attention for a half.

I’m still livid that someone else beat me to a “Klose, but no cigar” joke on this board.
A certain symmetry to this game - Russia can't do much in the attacking end, and Finland can't do much in the defensive end.

“The snipers already had him in their sights,” the regional minister Joachim Herrmann said in a statement.
“If the police had come to the conclusion that it was a terrorist attack, he would have paid for it with his life.”
Only the large Greenpeace logo emblazoned on the yellow canopy of the parachute microlight saved him, he said.

The bet - Wales/Turkey o1.75 (-155)
Turkey probably looked the most miserable team of the tournament in their first game vs. Italy as they managed nothing, looked feeble, kept 10 men behind the ball, and tried a desperate counter or two only. They managed zero shots on target and just were pathetic. This was a team that was a dark horse pre-tournament to advance and some pundits tipped Bruak Yilmaz to be in the conversation for the golden boot
And is as often the case in sports, no team is as good as they looked in a win, nor is a team as bad as they looked in the loss and I'm taking that tack with Turkey in this game. The team does have some talent and I think this game vs Wales is a much better setup for them to get into the attack.
Wales on the other hand is a offensively challenged team as they have shown time and time and time again. They've only managed over 1 goal in one of their last 13 matches. They were thoroughly outplayed by the Swiss, but Switzerland does have a pretty competent side. Here again, the Welsh have a much better setup vs Turkey for them to score as their counter will give the Turks fits. They have plenty of pace, and you have to think Bale will get one here one of these days, maybe on a set piece.
I think a case can be made for BTTS (both teams to score) at +110 here as well, as I do think that's a good price as well, but it's certainly conceivable that if say Turkey scores early, they sit back and defend and I'm not sure Wales is good enough to score in this type scenario. 2-0 would not be a shock result for either side, imho.
I'll probably not have anything for the last game today, pre-game, but I will probably watch and if something in-game presents itself will pop in with a live bet. g'luck if playing.

I remember seeing Marko yelling at the player immediately after the goal and being surprised there was no card. One game ban seems harsh tho.
There are some simmering nationality issues there that make it a little harsher than a garden variety insult.

Update:
Saint Petersburg (AFP) – Russian defender Mario Fernandes was hospitalised Wednesday after suffering a suspected spine injury during a Euro 2020 match against Finland, his team said.
The 30-year-old went up for a high ball in the Finland box in the first half and came down awkwardly, the back of his neck taking the full force of the landing.
The Brazilian-born CSKA Moscow player was carried off the pitch on a stretcher with a brace around his head and neck. He was replaced by Vyacheslav Karavayev.
“Fernandes has a suspected spine injury in the upper back,” the Russian national team said on Twitter.
I suspect this is somewhere between - "Sore back" and serious spinal injury. Hopefully its much closer to sore back.
(I did chuckle when the announcers said he had a "lower" back injury, when he had clearly landed on his neck/upper back)

Almost an identical play on the goal. Same runner, same passer, better finish. Maybe Wales saw something on tape to make them think runs from midfield were not being tracked by Turkey?
