The Phoenix Rising are putting it all on the line as they try to make it 13 straight home Dollar Beer Night wins (and 14th straight overall win to extend their USL record) tonight against a legit opponent, Reno 1868. The latter are second in the West behind your favorite USL squad.

Rising just received Peter-Lee Vassell on loan from LAFC. No idea if he'll be available tonight, but PHX could use some midfield help and he's another Jamaican national to go with Junior Flemmings and Kevon Lambert.

Rising have trudged their way through the last couple of wins. I wouldn't be shocked if all of the streaks end tonight, and that might not be the worst thing. If they can get a draw, they'd still have a seven point cushion and maybe they can rest some guys.

Drogba still doing anything with the team?

VAR just went to work and sent Modric off with a straight red, in real time it was borderline yellow but I’m not sold on this VAR for fouls.

Terrible misuse of replay
Replay got it right.  Rule was changed for the worse.

I did laugh at Pep in his post-match presser - he pointed out that this exact (non) call went against them last year v. Spurs in Champions league, when Llorente scored.

::soapbox::

relatively new to this whole experience, and, admittedly, wagering is the draw for me ... cut and dried.

but i will allow that, after hunkering down all summer and watching/studying, i get why this sport is so ####### popular.  it's a blast. blows the NFL away big time - there, i said it (not that most of you would have issue  :D )

butbutbut ... just like the NFL, this replay #### is, well ... ungood.

full disclosure - i lost a nice chunk of change on that 11th hour VAR - so the sting is a ton  deeper for my ### - now, that being said, if we look at it aesthetically, City deserved the win - TotSpur showed up, and gave a ####### hell of an effort, props ... but City dominated those latter stages, and earned those stolen 3 pts - #### that.

dunno, i've seen VAR disallow quite a few goals since i've started betting footy - turning me off big time.

i have a thicker gambler's skin than to whine over one loss, i assure you ... ya need a short memory when betting - but this #### today sours me ... i may de-sour, but i don't know if i can sweeten again.

it's a beautiful game, reminds me of how/why i fell in love with the ponies - the spectacle and urgency of it all - it's quantum. ####### surreal.

i really din't wanna break up with footy after such a short relationship - but this has been a very tempestuous and inconsistent courtship ... was just about to price a ring, too  :kicksrock:

Its been said, and probably will again - this was not a VAR #### up - this was a rule change #### up.

On the whole, I think VAR has done its job.  My preference would be not to nitpick on the offside - even is on side, and if you have to freeze-frame, and draw imaginary lines to spot a hair off-side - that is not a good use of VAR.

ok, but ... without VAR thats a 3-2 City win ... that goal stood for 3 minutes, and money was deposited into my acct for hitting City o2.5

then, POOF! it's gone on the reversal- so while i get what you're saying, i still see VAR as the culprit when all is said and done -

and, yes, fait accompli for City win if it stood

ok, work with me here ...

goal was in the bank. check.

goal was overturned, due to the rule.  check.

VAR facilitated the conundrum, and mandated the reversal.  check.

so, how does it get reversed sans VAR?

was the constant hand wringing/soul searching after every ####### goal commonplace prior to this facacta ####?

thanks, i'll hang up and listen.
