⚽ Soccer Match-day Thread (7 Viewers)

First place I lived in Charlotte had these really bad windows and a couple of times a wasp or yellow jacket thing would get in. And those are terrifying because they're so fast and aggressive. You really don't know what to expect at any second.

I imagine that is about what it feels like to try and defend Mbappe.

The funny thing is I thought Spurs pulled off another upset. I had the Espn scores page saved on my phone and for whatever reason it didn't go ahead to current date. Of course the date was when Spurs beat Liverpool 1-0 in January and I didn't see the date. It was true for about 10mins today!

55k? There's not even that many people living in Wrexham proper. They have a theoretical large catchment area in terms of size, but nobody lives there, and those that do either already follow their own clubs
That seemed like a stretch to me without knowing any of that. What are there? Like maybe 8 teams in all of England and Wales with stadia that size?

ETA: looks like 5 if you only count stadia with a full-time soccer team attached. Six if you add Parkhead. Another four if you count those in the 50-55k range.

Just saw that Yamal has 22 goals and 33 assists -- 55 involvements -- in his career and he hasn't turned 18 yet.

For context, the same source says that Ronaldo had 9 and Messi had 10 when they turned 18.

There is nothing one can do but shake their head. He makes it all look so effortless too at times.

The only thing (outside of injuries) that will stop him from being the best player on the planet in the coming 15 years is whether he keeps a good attitude or not. He looks the part off the field from what I read so there really is no limit here for him.

:lmao:

Betis player so ready to celebrate he almost cost himself a goal! A sitter from 6 yards out and he hits the bar, it bounces down and back into the bar and out. He is so busy running off to celebrate he doesn't make sure it was a goal and put the easy rebound back in. Luckily it did cross, barely and the goal stands.

Oh and the ref is Michael Oliver.

Sancho "goal" for Chelsea. He took an easy shot, defender goes to clear off the line and miskicks it into his own hand and into the goal.

Wow VAR gives United a PK and Athletic a red!! Didn't see the red coming but if it is DOGSO then....
pretty obvious on replay.
The foul yeah, for sure. Straight red also?
denying clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity.

goalzone ref consultant confirmed it was a no-brainer.
I don’t like it. The guy never even had possession of the ball. I know because of the foul, but that double whammy seems unnecessary

Penalty, yellow , rest of the game could be fun.

Oh don't worry, even up a man, United will make the game fun for you.

EPL running rampant
Speaking of the EPL, Brentford just went up 2-0 against Forest in a very meaningful game for Champions League positioning.
Am really rooting for Forest to hold on and return to the CL. What a season for them regardless of how it ends. Their manager should be Manager of the Season.
I understand this sentiment but for obvious reasons I feel the exact opposite.
fwiw, I'm rooting for Forest AND NC. would LOVE to see MC on the outside.

wait... 5 spots? where's Chelsea in all of this? I'd love to Chelsea on the outside if they're in the mix.

I'd prefer this too, I just don't expect it. MC seems to have found their footing and I always figured it'd be Forest who would drift downwards.

Chelsea is right there. Villa is also still hanging around.
