Lack of proper coaching and training IMO. I think he will improve under Ten Hag, for England, but not for United. Unless he has forever priced himself out of a move to another club, not sure he'll fully realize his potential. It's a shame, as he is one of the few likeable characters on that team.
Possibly.  I go back to when Bruno first arrived under Ole and most notably after the restart post covid shutdown.  Rashford, Martial, Greenwood were so much fun to watch and they were all scoring and setting each other up for goals.  Fluid, unselfish and looking like they enjoyed playing.  This is 2 seasons and a coach later and its all gone.  No joy.

Two times in less than a week I've seen Juan Mata actually playing football.  What gives Man United?
He is still so good and quick on the ball, not sure why he wasn't used more.  I am guessing this is a goodbye game for him, last at Old Trafford.

I mean realistically, no one who is definitely leaving should be seen in the last 3 games:
Mata, Matic, Lingard, Pogba (if not hurt), Cavani.  No reason for them to play again.

big 2nd place Championship game today between Burnmouth and the Sheriff of Nottingham Forest and their merry men and bathing whores.

3 points difference between the auto promotion spot, but 3rd place Forest would hold GD advantage with a win. I hope Horvath doesn't cramp up on the bench from the excitement.

also... SEA vs Pumas for the CCL final tonight at 10est. (eta **TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY NIGHT at 10**)

all knotted up at 2 from the last leg... I think I saw SEA has sold over 60k tickets for this one?

going to be a good one.

and LIV vs VILL on tap as well... yet another good day to be working from home.

It is definitely a do not miss game even for those that don't watch any domestic soccer.  It is not often you get a decent chance (50/50?) to watch history.

But the game is not tonight.  It is tomorrow night.

who the hell is the team in red???  They are giving away so many balls.  This is so 180 from how they have played all year.
Srsly

Terrible passing, pressing and clearing.

Villareal is forcing a lot of it, in fairness.

Klopp better throw a blow dryer at someone at halftime.

Haven't seen Liverpool look this rattled in a long time. Credit to Villarreal, they look hungry and are playing well.

Klopp will fix things at halftime, I think. I expect a couple second half goals, but who knows anymore.

If Villarreal gets through Bayern AND Liverpool, might be the biggest cumulative upset at this stage of the tournament, no?

Other than the diving, Villareal are a real treat to watch.  So calm on the ball and they move it well.  Been a while since anyone took it to Liverpool like that for 45 minutes.

Just hate that so much.

But yeah. Even moreso that they are playing so open and high up so it's not as if they are bunkering and then countering. You'd think Liverpool would be able to exploit the spaces but they haven't at all.

I assume you guys all just watched Burnmouth get promoted with that win of Forrest?

I can't explain how much I've always been a fan of Scott Parker who, whether it was on the field or on the sidelines, always looks like a character from Brideshead Revisited. didn't know he coached the Cherries. also didn't know Ryan Giggs coached whorebath. and will continue to do so into the playoffs.

but that Forrest team... not very good. like, Norwich would crush these guys.

eta: also always cool to see the reaction of the fans after moments like these... bum-rushed the center circle the second the 8! mins of ET was over.

Just had the realization that I remembered that Liverpool / Chelsea semifinal from 2008 because I remember Cletius making a joke about Riise's own goal.  I've spent far too much of my life here.

Chelsea and LFC had some great CL battles back in those years including the Istanbul year, then a couple epic back to back knockout ties in 2007-09. JohnArne's own goal lead to one of my favorite Chelsea songs - about Soloman Kalou

He comes from the Ivory Coast, Kalou, Kalou

He don't do coke like Adrian Mutu, Mutu

He crossed the ball from the left, It landed right on Riise's head

That's why we love Salomon Kalou!

Reds calling his legs the L'Arc de Triomphe, because it's the way into Paris.
I thought he was terrible in the first game, but he made this a lot easier for Liverpool than it could have been tonight.  Probably not a lot to do against Diaz since it's so close and he put it on the keeper's ankles, but the other two were really suspect.

Does anyone watch the NWSL, National Women's Soccer League?

Thoughts on the quality relative to other world class female leagues? I'm mostly a football nube but might be going to a bunch of Angel City FC games this season. Wondering what I should expect.

I don't watch it.

But from what I understand, it's on par with amongst the best in the world for now. Europe was slow to catch up, but they've caught up and then some, with the big teams from around the world (Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, etc) all having women's teams that play in the their own leagues now.

When I scan daily scores, the women's leagues are included and there are routinely 7-0 blow-outs over there... which tells me that while there are some great teams with great players, the leagues haven't caught up. The sense I get with NWSL is that the league is evenly matched and has quality players in it.

But either way- I wouldn't let any perception about quality relative to Europe get in the way of your enjoyment of what is likely a great live experience with a highly competitive team and league featuring a lot of the world's best women's players.

The only thing I know about the league is that Angel FC is one of the best supported teams.  They play in LAFC's gorgeous stadium so you should have a nice time imo.

should be an amazing spectacle, assuming they don't face plant.  In my younger days I would have crossed the country to see this

Seattle Sounders say ticket sales for Concacaf Champions League finals second leg at home against Pumas on Wednesday will break record for highest-attended match in the competition’s history, with 67,000+ expected

Have my smart speaker on a playlist by Andrea Bocelli to relax my 12 week old. Didn't realize he had done a version of YNWA in 2020. The algorithm just served it up for us, a good and timely rendition!
