rough start to Leeds hopes of staying up.

early goal to Arsenal to go down 0-1.

Everton scores an early goal to go up 1-0 vs Leicester.

opposite of evertyhing they needed this morning.

Lots of relegation scenarios and Southampton isn't safe at all.

Assuming they finish at 40, Burnley can surpass them with two wins from the group of Spurs, Villa and Newcastle and we've seen stranger stuff.

Leeds pretty much needs a result v Chelsea because of their horrible goal diff, and they need to beat both Brentford and Brighton. Or for Burnley to stumble, in which case Saints would finally be safe.

I'm pretty sure Everton is gonna get six points out of their last four games. Today's three was a bonus for them.

This all feels like one of those college football games you're watching at the sports book and a game that was seemingly well in hand slowly and agonizingly slips away to a last minute beat.

When's the last time a club got relegated with 40 points? I went back 20 years years and the closest I found was 2010-2011 when Wolves and Birmingham City both went down with 39.

I think this pretty set at this point. Leeds is going down.

Lets look at remaining games.   Burnley has a .5 point lead due to tie breakers and that won't change.

Burnley:

@ Tottenham, @Villa(they just lost to Villa at home), and hosts Newcastle.

Leeds:

hosts Chelsea, hosts BHA, @Brentford

I think Burnley's run out is slightly harder.  I could easily see this coming down to the last game.

I think Everton are safe though.  A game in hand on both Burnley and Leeds and of the 4 games remaining, 3 are winnable.

Yes to all this. I've been looking at things from a Soton perspective and trying to figure out what series of results would eliminate the Saints.

And that's not totally wrong to think about because Leeds and Burnley will be playing balls out the next two weeks and Southampton could easily finish at a limped-in 40.

We will gratefully accept assistance from our friends on the Tyne. Or even down the coast. (Not you, you Pompey wankers)

Blatant offside missed against Liverpool. Like a couple yards.

So frustrating.
The explanation makes it worse since they state something about it being in a different phase of play.  Basically the time lapse was too long and we can't rewind that far.

Well-earned direct red card for Daniel James and Leeds United is down a goal and a man.  Looking grim for Jesse Marsch's bid to keep Leeds in the Premier League.
That was Ole's plan, sell James to Leeds so he can ensure relegation and he can buy Bamford and Phillips.

Not quite sure how we ended that first leg only down one, we picked up a little bit in the second half but we have ran massively good to not be completely dead. One can only hope Hecky can get a big reaction on Tuesday

If I come back as a black guy in a future life and find myself playing in the EPL the first thing I'm going to do is change my name to James Smith-Jones.  Or ask for a transfer.

Even in 2022 the game is called completely differently for the good lads and the dirty foreigners.

Antonio has been mugged like 20 times and is yet to get a call.

aka The Sadio Mane story.

Title odds:  City 88%-12% Liverpool

Relegation odds:  Leeds (58%), Burnley (37%), Everton (5%)

Liverpool odds:  Quad (8%), any Treble (59%), Cup Double (33%)

If Liverpool win out (@Soton, v Wolves) City will have to win home to Villa on the final day.

I don't see how City doesn't annihilate AVL at home. Unfortunate WHU couldn't convert one more of those chances to really make it interesting.

It doesn't really change much since City have such a big GD advantage.  Even if WHU had won today City would need to drop points v Villa for Liverpool to slip in.

No way Liverpool is going to make up 6 goals if City win next week.  They'd have to beat Wolves by 7+.

ETA:  And Liverpool have to take care of business at Soton -- likely with a heavily rotated squad -- to make any of this matter.

Richarlson just perfectly trapped a cross-field ball off his back -- leaned over and let it bounce off his back onto his foot.  Never seen that before.

Leeds (56%), Burnley (35%) and Everton (9%) in the mix to go down after Everton's loss.

Everton are going to want to beat Palace at home.  At Arsenal to finish the season would be tough ask.
