Not a horrible result for either side. United were the better side but not by so much that a draw isn’t fair. Really like what ETH has done after the slow start.
xG were 1.09 Chelsea - 1.07 ManU. 1-1 was pretty much the expected result.

ManU dominated early, but the early Kovacic sub changed the game. After that I thought Chelsea had the better of it, but ETH made some smart changes as well. It was cool when the camera showed him with a board with pieces on it as he and his AC were discussing how to deal with the Kova change. Showed how much like chess this is for smart managers like ETH and Potter.

Decent game, but neither team seemed to know what to do once they were in the box. Still, entertaining none the less.

How was of Chelsea’s xg was the PK? I don’t ever follow those stats and my attempts to find it haven’t been successful. Assuming it takes that in to account, which I assume it does, then I would think it would have United with a decent advantage in xg (minus the pk) They didn’t dominate but considering it was at Stamford Bridge and they controlled things pretty well I think it’s a good sign for United.

They’ve played the other big 6 teams and gone 3-1-1. City murdered them.

Miggy Haalmiron strikes again!

Miguel Almirón has scored five goals in his last five Premier League appearances, with his previous five goals in the competition being spread across 61 matches.
He's incredibly one-footed but his confidence is through the roof. He's a fan favorite because of his work rate and now he's hitting bangers every week. I love the guy.

I'm always amazed by players like Miggy who everyone knows is so one-footed but can still thrive at the highest level. As I said before, it was obvious he was a special talent here in Atlanta.

The only explanation is the VAR ref was drunk or on the take. I mean, that is so bad they should come out of half and take the goal off the board.

Now that I watched the rest of the match I went and found a video. Still in shock that this was given as a goal.

That's an interesting one. His hands are inside the silhouette of the body (not a handball), but he does appear to use them to pass the ball (handball).

The problem is they have made the law so convoluted and so bad that no one knows anymore. Had it gone in the goal directly off him its called no goal. But since others touched it before it went in, its now a goal. It's absolutely amazing how difficult they have made calling handball.

Atletico bailed out by the most marginal of handball calls at the literal whistle. Header deflected onto a defenders arm from like 2 yards away. Given by VAR. They were out of the tournament.

SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REBOUND HEADED ONTO THE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! REBOUND SHOT DEFLECTED OVER THE BAR!!!!!!!!!!!

All after the final whistle had been blown. The most "ball don't lie" moment of all time.

Justice. That was not a handball.

Gabriel Jesus: 1076 minutes played, 5 goals

Darwin Núñez: 632 minutes played, 6 goals

One's a flop & the other is the signing of the season? (stolen from the innerweb)

Messi is almost back to the full height of his powers, He has not played this well in a few years. He is scoring and creating goals at will.

It would be wonderful to see him put an absolute stamp on the "greatest" tag with a WC win this year.

WOW. Philadelphia just completely flipped the script on NYCFC

I think Jack McGlynn may have the best left foot of any American right now. I can't wait to see how he develops in the coming years.

We are so devoid of skillful left footed players. If Ream does not make the 26 in Qatar, I think Jedi might be the only lefty in the entire squad. Vines may also sneak on.

Revenge tastes so good. LAFC have yet to beat us btw ever. So happy for Jim Curtin. He's one of us. Grew up here worked hard and earned everything. He's not some sexy big name they paid big $$$ for and we didn't go and buy ourselves an all star team. Props to Sugarman and Ernest Tanner. Also special Congrats to Matt Real who went to school and grew up in my old neighborhood

Wrexham with the solid 1-0 at home against Maidenhead United. Keeping the pressure on Notts County who drew with Bromley today at home. Now just one point separates the two at the top.

Prior to today, Notts County form in its last 12 games was WWWWWWWLWWWW

Read today that Dax McCarty has played with a Top 3 finisher in the MVP race in 8 of the last 13 years. Which presumably doesn't count the years when Schweinsteiger thought that Dax was the only guy on the Fire who knew how to play. Give him Adams' athleticism and he'd have been a legend.

Miggy Almiron is not only scoring consistently, every goal he scores is such high quality. He scored another beauty today.

He has to be one of the top handful of players (based on current form, not injury) that will miss the WC.

I'm in Bogotá on vacation and I just saw an insane game on TV while at a restaurant between Deportivo Pereira and Junior FC. Multiple red cards, field players as goalies, goalies taking penalty kicks, leads exchanged multiple times in the last 15 minutes, all sorts of emotions.
Sounds like Osasuna v Barca is trying to one up this.

71' and there have been 6 yellows (4 for Osasuna and 2 for Barca), 2 reds (Lewandowski and Pique)
Best part of Pique's is he is on the bench and got it at half time, in what is his last game for Barca. He doesn't even get to come on for a goodbye.

oh and its 1-1

Is there any player who thinks and moves slower than Harry Maguire? I mean at any level anywhere in the world. The man even falls slow. He defies gravity with how slow he falls.

Two first half goals secure all three points for Wrexham at home today while Notts County had a scoreless draw against Yeovil Town - moving Wrexham back top of the table by one point.
