Probably better new for Le'veon. Ngata has ate up the run game for years.Ngata to the Lions has to be good news for Ben/Steelers.
Thank Hey-soos. Can't wind up back in Pittsburgh now.Evilgrin 72 said:Woodley to AZ. Shocking.

completely shocked - I thought for sure he'd sign for big $ elsewhere and we'd get a comp pick - hope everything is well with himWorilds retiring.
This was the first thing that I thought of as well -- the Steelers are getting screwed out of a nice compensatory pick.completely shocked - I thought for sure he'd sign for big $ elsewhere and we'd get a comp pick - hope everything is well with himWorilds retiring.
Yes but for 2015 probably not that bad. The Steelers weren't signing Worilds and they definitely think Keisel is done. The only real loss would be McCain...Worilds retired. McCain might be a Dolphin. Kiesel cut. Rough couple hours there.
This help Deebo's chances of one more year? CFL guy (Lemon) and HoJo look like nice players but would hate to have to rely on them. Add in uncertainty of JJones and thin pickings in free agency. Given how cheap the Steelers have been on free agency in many many years, I can only imagine how that small that amount was compared to the JetsBigSteelThrill said:NFL Network reporter just said "the Steelers made an attempt at Darrelle Revis, but it was just too much money."
but given who they are losing lately there is really no choice.Reports are it was a 2 year deal worth $1 million, a case of Iron City and a $50 gift card to Primanti's.Given how cheap the Steelers have been on free agency in many many years, I can only imagine how that small that amount was compared to the JetsBigSteelThrill said:NFL Network reporter just said "the Steelers made an attempt at Darrelle Revis, but it was just too much money."

Surprisingly he turned it down...
If Arthur Moats is the "only sure thing" we have as a pass-rusher, this is going to be a looooooooong season on defense. Like Great Wall of China long. This help Deebo's chances of one more year? He'd make a decent backup to Bell if he signs cheap. Very clearly a guy on the decline, but on a 1 or 2 year deal as a veteran presence, I'd like it. He can catch, he's an above-average pass blocker now after being below average early in his career, good character "team first" guy who'd be satisfied with a backup role on a winning team (F U LaGarrette,) hard worker, good influence (F U again, LaGarrette.) He's not a 4.5 ypc guy any more, but as a 5-6 carry a game backup and emergency option? Sure.ex-CAR RB DeAngelo Williams to visit Steelers on Friday per Schefter
I like Williams and hopefully he has something left in the tank but he'll be 32 in April and was really banged up last year. The only way he makes sense is at the league minimum.Evilgrin 72 said:He'd make a decent backup to Bell if he signs cheap. Sounds like McCain is a Dolphin.
Hoping that means the Dolphins draft a receiver and not a corner in the first. That one is going to sting.
What an asshole.Twitter says Worilds retired so he could do some Jehovah's Witnessing. Don't knock on my door!
There's no one in the CFL we can sign to cover AJ Green?Sounds like McCain is a Dolphin.Hoping that means the Dolphins draft a receiver and not a corner in the first. That one is going to sting.
Desperate need at OLB and CB. Fingers crossed one falls to the Steelers.
Totally agree. It's only because CB is such a need position that it's getting some play. He was a pleasant surprise to be sure, but he can be replaced. I see there appears to be significant interest in Patrick Robinson. I remember liking this kid coming into the draft a few years back, but I haven't exactly kept up with his career since. Anyone know how he's played the last few years?Losing McCain hurts but let's not get carried away. He was not the second coming of Rod Woodson or even Deshea Townsend. He was decent last year but I don't think he is irreplaceable.
Other than what I have read on him I have nothing. He seems like he would be at least on the same level as McCain and perhaps more. He's only 27.Totally agree. I did some reading this morning. Apparently, he was the human torch his first three seasons and a colossal first-round bust, but put together his best season last year approaching UFA status. Feels like Mike Mitchell part 2. I'd be fine with it if he signs a deal that makes him easily cuttable if he sucks, but if he's looking for a Keenan Lewis type deal coming off his rookie contract, no frigging way.Godsbrother said:Other than what I have read on him I have nothing. That's my sentiment. Would have liked to have kept him. I'm fine with Gay but after that there's not much unless Cortez rebounds and Blake continues to improve.I don't think anyone was over-valuing McCain, it just sucks losing a competent player at a position where we already had a very deep need.
I agree that it sucks to lose McCain because of lack of depth at the position but I view him as a third corner at best. I would rather have him than not but I am totally fine going in with Gay on one side and then signing a vet FA, drafting a corner or two and letting them, Allen, Blake and Webb battle it out. That's my sentiment. Dolphins gave him a nice (but not huge) contract so maybe he's better than meh. I liked how he improved over the course of the season and think he'll be pretty solid. He's better than the other current options already there it seems. They'll have to bring someone else in for sure now.I agree that it sucks to lose McCain because of lack of depth at the position but I view him as a third corner at best. McCain had a huge game against the Bengals but aside from that he was meh as far as I was concerned. I don't know -- maybe I'm not giving McCain enough credit...

I guess it is good news but as I said earlier there are a ton of decent FA RBs available and the market has not been red hot for Williams.
